  1. A couple things are very clear after watching some of the analyses on Darnold. 1 - His improvisational skills and ability to extend a play are great. He is a player that CAN be the difference. Teddy was not that type of player. 2 - His interior offensive line was absolute garbage. Van Roten got destroyed routinely, McGovern could barely handle the guy he was assigned, and Alex Lewis was solid at times but was hurt for a portion of the year. Fant at RT was basically Byron Bell; he would get in the way and if he latched on to you he was good, but he got torched by speed and bend. Becton was the only solid piece on the line. AND his backs? Terrible in pass pro. 3 - Darnold played some damn good defenses last year. Darnold had to play that Bills defense twice, a Belichick defense twice (though shorthanded, they were still coached well), and a Miami defense that proved to be much better than anticipated, twice. And that was just his division. He also played the Colts, the 49ers, the Chargers, and the Seahawks. 4 - He made guys look better than they are. He is owed a nice 'thank you' check from Breshad Perriman for his ability to make him look like a solid number 2 receiver acting as a number 1 for portions of the season out of necessity. Behind his offensive line and with Crowder, his top and only receiver, out for NINE games? Breshad Perriman was the only starting wideout to play 12 games or more. And no running game to speak of. 5 - Darnold can make every pass. He really can. His arm strength is a little overblown, but his touch is vastly understated. He can throw on the run, he can throw between defenders, over defenders, and throw guys open. He is a legit NFL arm. 6 - All of that being said, Sam is a gambler. He perhaps trusts his ability too much at times. I realize he is trying to make something happen, but oftentimes his risk-taking resulted in failure. He has a little bit of Favre and Delhomme in him. He wants to take shots. That can be both exciting and frustrating. He will need to be more controlled to make this offense work. He doesn't have to risk as much now, but that seems to go against his natural instincts. Can he be coached to take calculated risks? We will see. Overall, I think the 2021 Panthers will be much more exciting to watch with Darnold at QB. It may not work out, but it won't be for conservative play.
  2. Burris is more of a SS and a big nickel. We are lacking a true FS with starting potential on the roster. Kenny Robinson fits the profile better than anyone else and he is a huge question mark.
  3. Pick coming up for Panthers soon Simi Fehoko WR, Tommy Doyle OT, Daviyon Nixon DT, Dylan Moses LB, Caden Sterns S I expect all of those guys to be in consideration.
  4. 32 1/4 inch arms is very worrisome. But he has every other tool to be successful.
  5. Honestly, from 2013 forward? Not bad. And depending on the continued growth of Gross Matos and Chinn, pretty damn good. Not to mention Muhammad, Jenkins, Rucker, Minter, Grant, and even Marshall (he was a solid nickel).
  6. I personally don't like it and wish we would invest more in the offensive line. However, I also don't want them to reach for a player. I do believe in taking the BPA and filling the holes with depth and competition. It's really too bad that Sewell went one pick before us. Reminds me of when Clady went right before us and we went with JStew.
  7. From what I understand, his medicals weren't good. He was talked about as a potential 1st rounder before that.
  8. On paper, we have a championship worthy defense. Which is shocking to say after the amount of turnover we have had in the past 2 years.
  9. If his medicals checked out, I would love to have Landon Dickerson. He is like an Alex Mack and Nick Mangold hybrid. I would also be very happy with Jabril Cox (BEST coverage linebacker by far), Dillon Radunz, or Jeremiah O.K. I'll shrug at a safety. There are guys I like, but none that I am ecstatic over.
  10. And we didn't give up a draft pick or move up to get him like that arrogant ass, Sean Payton did. I truly despise that man.
  11. I actually think that is why they took Payton Turner. We took the guy they coveted and now they want to kill Sam Darnold by bulking their D-line. They took the wrong guy... but the goal was still there.
  12. I don't know who my dislike is stronger towards: The Saints team, Sean "Mouthful of Juicy Fruit" Payton, or Saints fans. It's literally the most difficult version of F, Marry, Kill ever.
  13. If you mean fat, heartless slobs, then yes. No more of those.
  14. I think he meant the rumor that we were intrigued by him. I think second on Rhule's wishlist is the player having a passion and attitude for the game and preparation for it. That was Fields' biggest question mark.
  15. It's a nice feeling, that being true going forward.
  16. I saw something yesterday where an insider knew that many teams had Payton Turner rated as a 4th rounder...
  17. Above all else, it has become apparent that Rhule values one thing over anything else: Rare Athletic ability If you look at the players drafted just in the first two rounds last year and round 1 this year: - Derrick Brown (for his size, strength, balance, and hands moreso than speed. I do believe this was more of a Hurney pick. I believe the rumor that Rhule wanted to move down and grab Kinlaw who was more athletically gifted). - Yetur Gross Matos - Jeremy Chinn - Jaycee Horn All of those guys are FREAK athletes. Those are the guys we can expect to pinpoint as targets for the rest of this draft and in every draft with Rhule at the helm going forward. He believes he can coach anyone. He just wants the guy he is coaching to have SOMETHING special to work with. So who else stands out in this regard for the draft this year?
  18. Hmm. Me thinks Mayock ought to go back to the booth...
  19. And I would dish poo to others that believe they have some revolutionary stance too, when in actuality, they don't. I don't care if he is a rookie or been here since the beginning, the point is true in all walks of life. Your voice only matters when you have something to say. Most people open their mouths before opening their minds. Then they get pissed off because not everyone is appreciating their words. Well, tough. He is posting in a forum about a professional football team. It's a hobby. He isn't being tarred and feathered in the streets or put on the evening news. If this affects his life more than a passing fancy, he has more problems than a poo on a post.
  20. True, but when you draft in the top 5 you typically look for a position that determines the outcomes of games. Tight ends rarely get that. Most of the greatest tight ends in history don't have a ring.
  21. While I can appreciate a big brother-esque stance, the fact is that an entirely new thread was started to state on obvious point as if we were being bestowed with some rare or unique point of view that warranted its own attention. It didn't. And if he can't see that, it should be pointed out to him. It wasn't a direct attack, it was sarcastic ribbing. I do worse to my own family and friends. People are too damn sensitive.
