Official Panthers at Cowboys Predictions Thread
Mr. Scot replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wish it weren't true, but I was here for the Texans game so... -
2003 Game 6, got our asses handed to us by the Tennessee Titans. We looked like sh-t and loads of people were saying we'd been exposed as frauds. Our season ended up better than theirs did.

Meyer reminds me of Jim Harbaugh in that regard, i.e. guy who does better communicating with young kids than professional adults. Mind you, Harbaugh's been undermining that idea since going to Michigan. -
I'm thinking of a scene in Remember the Titans... "All I need you to do is cover 43."

Completely agree. Pretty much. But you know, especially in your role, that a loss or a poor performance is gonna bring the dumbsh-ts out of the woodwork.

Possible.

I'm thinking girl-next-door, honestly. Maybe she lives in a rich neighborhood? -

Agree on the QB but I do think we'd have taken Sewell had he dropped. Heck, that was probably true anyway. -

Oh, he's that guy. I knew the name sounded familiar but I couldn't think of why. As I recall, we had a pretty extensive discussion of that incident when the story came out. -

QB? Seriously doubt it. Having him wouldn't have changed their feelings on that front. OL? We tried, but the guy we wanted went to Detroit and we apparently didn't think Slater was worth the #8. Honestly, we still might have taken Horn. But if not, as I recall per Panthers Confidential we had Devonta Smith in the mix. -

How much of our run blocking woes are on coaching and scheme?
Mr. Scot replied to SBBlue's topic in Carolina Panthers
From what I see, not much. Mind you, we're not as bad as I thought we'd be, but we definitely need improvement. Don't necessarily expect to see that until next year although it's possible it could happen down the road if some of our rookies become ready to play. -

I think it's possible Tepper would have wanted him (good for business...at least before, you know). But the incorrect perception at the time was that Tepper would have been willing to influence football decisions. We now know that isn't true. -
FYI: Joe Person picked us to lose too.

GMs don't determine coaching philosophy. (people who actually know jack about football understand this) -

I think it's possible if it's up to Darnold. Not so sure his agent will be quite so cooperative...unless of course Sam tells him to be. -

Pretty much. Our offensive philosophy under Rivera was basically the Buddy Ryan approach, i.e. Cam is the offense and the defense handles the rest. -

Side Note regarding reporters: Bridget Condon (aka the female voice you heard asking questions at several recent Panthers press conferences) is joining the NFL's media team. Not sure who else does, but I remember her verbally backhanding David Newton for a stupid question a while back.

I've said before that I think we signed stopgaps this year with a plan to build the OL via the draft.
