No word on Corral or the rookies, but...

Technically three, with the third being that San Francisco has to become comfortable with the idea of Trey Lance as their starter. There's been some chatter that's not especially close to happening.

Something a lot of people don't get... Different teams' evaluations of players can vary...a lot. You can't assume that just because one team rated a certain player high or low, everyone else did too

A note from the Seahawks... Henderson is a Seahawks beat writer for ESPN. Here's an excerpt about Willis (and others) from the Henderson article cited for the tweet: Malik Willis was a popular mock pick for Seattle at No. 9 overall. The Seahawks passed on Willis four times before he was taken 86th overall -- feeling he was nowhere near NFL-ready, according to one source -- and didn't think enough of the other quarterbacks to take one with any of their nine selections. "It's hard for rookies," general manager John Schneider said after the draft, explaining the decision to not take a quarterback and hinting at how lousy this year's QB class was. "It's very hard on rookies to come in here and [compete right away]. You have to have unique, unique qualities ... Continuously throughout the draft, it just didn't fall the right way for one reason or another.

Guess the Panthers are pretty happy with how this turned out. The scout mentioned in the story as having originally checked out Ekwonu is being promoted.

Not one of ours, but for those who fondly remember Stephen Davis, his son is gonna be trying out for Ron Rivera in Washington. He's a linebacker rather than a runningback like his dad.

Regarding Ekwonu... "You go to practice, see them come out on the field, he's one of the first ones out there. You're like, 'Wow, who is this monster of a man who is telling everyone to do this, making sure all the checks are right, make sure to bring your helmet to warmups?' He was one of those guys who, as soon as he steps on the field, he was in charge. And he wasn't a part of the trio of captains. But he was their lead dog, and you could feel that on the field. "There's a certain measure of a man, you can always tell he's the man. You see an offensive lineman, when he walks on the field, everybody perks up. You could tell he was their tone-setter. He brings the mentality, their culture." And then practice started. "It was a hot day, you could tell he was already lathered up as soon as he went to practice," Kirksey said. "From the minute they went to inside run, this guy was, excuse my language, kicking the s--- out of everybody. About Corral... But he wasn't there just to see the game. Just like when McNeill and Kirksey and Spencer were watching Ekwonu dominate in practices, Haines wanted to see how Corral reacted to those around him in all the other settings that matter. Likewise... For all the moves they tried to make, they eventually did the conventional thing by actually using the 189th, 199th, and 242nd picks (though they had chance to accept veteran players in exchange for the 242nd shortly before they were on the clock, but passed). Would love to know the details of that one.

Here's a detail we hadn't seen before... Fitterer's not going to get into specific names, but Friday night, there were conversations about more than one veteran quarterback they could have acquired in trade.

Well now there's this... Plans can change of course (and very well might after the first time they see the guys they have take the field) but if they stick to this, Mayfield is pretty much out of starting options.

I've not seen a single report that questions Willis's character. By all accounts, he's a great kid.
