Just Bet $250 on Carolina to Win the NFC South...
Khyber53 replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
Why would anyone give you money to place a bet with them? Had you been betting before but stopped for a while? If so, that's a great way to get you back into their cash flow plans. Had you signed up for the service but never used it? Then it's a powerful way to motivate you to start betting. Just tiny little hooks to keep you dancing on the line for them. Sports booking/betting outfits really don't care if you win or lose, they are balancing bets against each other to keep the books straight. They make their money off of the vigorish or placement fees. They are interested in volume, keeping the number of people active and involved. Free money for bets, comped rooms, "VIP" bettor status, whatever it takes to keep the action rolling. Gambling has always had a parasitic relationship with society. And man, it's on steroids now. -
Here's another one I wrote. Interesting guy. This one ran on our main channel before but we had to pull it and re-edit it because of a viewer complaint. It happens. So, here we go.

Highest Roster Turnover in the NFL
Khyber53 replied to Leeroy Jenkins Ph.D.'s topic in Carolina Panthers
This has been a war of attrition between a carpet-bagged Pittsburgh hedge fund billionaire and professional football in the Carolinas. And it's the fans who have lost the most. We have gotten worse and worse and worse since the team was sold to that semi-bald, numbers massager and his trophy wife. And now we're all hoping that Meathead Morgan has somehow come around to become the savior of the organization. The guy who was the right hand man of the worst GM in the organization's history... and that's saying something. I hope, I hope, I hope that it will all miraculously come back around like it did at times in the past under the prior ownership. We had a few tragically bad years back then, and a few that we weren't competitive in, but since Tepid took over, that's all we've had. This is a roster that breeds and needs turnover, but until there's turnover at the very top, we probably will be stuck like this. -
It does. My buddy Jason is our narrator and he does a great job, I think.

Mount Tabor High School here, how about you? 1987 grad.

I grew up in the neighborhood where Fritz Klenner killed the old couple. My best friend's mom was the one who discovered them. (They also lived right across the street from Maya Angelou, a wonderful lady). I remember the TV station breaking in in the middle of the afternoon cartoons to announce about the chase, wreck and explosion that killed Klenner, his girlfriend and her two kids. The tale behind that whole event is just jaw dropping. I've wanted to do it, but the guy who owns our channel says it's too old and won't draw much attention because there is no footage to work with. I disagree but I don't sign the checks, so... And I think Velma Jean Barfield, North Carolina's poisoning black widow, would be excellent, too. And there's another nope for the same reasons. The narrator and I are hoping he'll let us open up a spin-off channel that can cover older stories like those. Maybe someday we will get the chance.

I mean, he hasn't been the answer to a lot of questions so far, but he isn't costing us much more money than his roster spot at the moment. Let him compete. Of course, he might want to work on more than one good route. There is literally such a lack of talent on this roster right now that just by giving it some semblance of effort you could make a difference. That's a heck of an opportunity for someone who is willing to work at it. But if that drive isn't there, then we can't manufacture something for him. Root hog or die.

Yeah, those poor kids. And I really think they'd had a tough time of it for a while before this. Thanks for watching! We try to put these out every Thursday.

There's kind of a Valvano feel to this tourney's Wolfpack. Good luck to them!

Latest one, let me know if you like it.

Panthers agree to terms with linebacker Tae Davis
Khyber53 replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
Still, here's hoping he has the best year of his career so far. -
Kinda depends on what it is mixed with. Traits don't breed true once they begin mixing them. You might end up with a Lab-looking dog that doesn't retrieve or love water or be good with families. Or you could end up with one that is even better at one or all of those things. It's really a roll of the dice. When it comes to dogs, we stick with purebreds from reputable AKC breeders.

And I think there's the mistake. Perfect chance the grab the best center available to grow up with the QB.

And a better reputation against the run. Something we have desperately needed. I really think our work against the run last season was very indicative of how important Shaq Thompson was, not just as a tackler but in getting people in place and setting the tone for the group. I've never been on the grab Clowney wagon in previous seasons and actually was dismissive of him again this season because I've thought he never played up to the potential that they said he had. He's been good-ish and solid, but not a game breaker. And when I looked at his production versus what BrIan Burns had produced, well, the math is that as sack artists they are pretty much the same, but there's some plus with run defense and we desperately need some veterans out there to bring our young folks along. In the end, I think he was the right guy at the right time and the trade was a plus overall, not a grand slam or a homerun even, but a solid double that could position us better than we've been in a while. Edit to add: Oh yeah, and the money worked out better.

Because we might be headed down a new road, but we might also be in the same old car. I'm hopeful, but I've been disappointed too many times in too many years running. Enjoy the moment, though, and hope the guy plays up to the contract.

Somewhere in a Denny's near Annapolis, MD, a disheveled and bedeviled Bill Bellichick is scribbling furiously in a big green spiralbound notebook, finding wrinkles to exploit in the new kickoff rules. His wife just rolls her eyes and orders another cup of coffee. It's going to be a long day for her.

That's a heavy, heavy statement. And a true one, too. At least it looks like the HC understands his assignment. Now whether he can do something with it is the question.
-
I wish him luck if he gets drafted. But that guy is going to bring a lot of baggage and his own coach. Once he gets where he is going, he's going to use up almost all of the air in the room. He's being portrayed as a superstar in the making, but the tea leaves are predicting a bitter brew.

MHS's first round mock with BPA and trade scenarios for #33
Khyber53 replied to MHS831's topic in 2025 NFL Draft
It's a small boon, but we really can't afford to not have it. Let's hope for some pennies from heaven then! -
MHS's first round mock with BPA and trade scenarios for #33
Khyber53 replied to MHS831's topic in 2025 NFL Draft
Let me answer my own statement here: ANYONE can make their own place on this team quickly considering how low effort, low grit and low drive most of our players (and coaches) showed last season. This has literally become a team where it really could be that anyone could earn a starting spot. Anyone drafted here should come in with that mindset and just try to out work anyone around them. I don't think more than one or two players kept over have their names chiseled in stone for a starting position. And UDFAs have a shot here, too. -

So many needs, and we are in the place where BPA is the only way to go. Chop or Ladd could really make their place on this team quickly. -
Out of that list, honestly, only CMC has proven to still be a star. The other guys looked like stars on our team, but to the outside observer, meh. Brown, I think, has star power. I really want to see him with a good team built around him.

Find and gather solid football players. Draft and develop stars. Don't buy someone else's cast off stars.

WR Draft News/Gossip per The Athletic Pod
Khyber53 replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think we'll grab McClonkey with our second pick in the second round. Now our first pick at 33? Because of the pretty wide base of excellent players in a number of different positions, someone, maybe multiple someones, will fall out of the first round that shouldn't have. And I really have no idea who that will be. There's a fantastic chance to grab a surprisingly good player at 33 this year. I'm kind of hoping for one of the top Centers or a DE, though.
