  1. Oh my sweet summer child, you ain't seen poo. *Smiles in rebel yell and lovely ladies*
  2. Sleep Token has filled all of my music listening time. For months now.
  3. Well, wrap it up boys. We going 7-10 this year. Am I doing preseason week 1 right after one possession?
  4. Give me Suzuki first. Guy is gonna be a baller
  5. No I'd say 30 spots are likely locks. Everything else is probably a question mark of fit and effort. Somebody is currently a #2 who could slide to #3 or even cut before the end of the month. That's the point.
  6. Very simply, our starters have to look good while out there, and I want to see everybody who isn't a starter playing like their career is on the line trying to earn a spot. That is it. If I see anything else, I will be very disheartened.
  7. He only missed a couple from 50+. Truth is, we didn't get many chances to gamble those. Our offense was abysmal and the last thing you want to do is ask your kicker to attempt a 50+ yarder every offensive possession because it is just harder to do consistently. That's how you crush a kicker's confidence and break him if he starts routinely missing those. He was automatic up to 40, and very accurate up to 50. Eddy wasn't the best in the league but he definitely wasn't the worst. The only thing hurting him was his declining FG% year to year. If he has an up spike there in his last year, even just a bit, he's still here
  8. Eddy was fine tbh. Historically good. Unless he doesn't have it in him anymore, need to kick those tires maybe
  9. Kickers are fickle beasts. It's easy to check out mentally as a specialist. Finding a consistent K, P, or LS is harder than it seems. That's at any level, and at the professional level it's harder because so much can be determined by a single special teams blunder (such as our first Superbowl). You ultimately have to take the best available option each year until you find the guy who gets his numbers in practice, tries to perfect his craft and doesn't shrink when the moments come in game. It's not like a QB or LB where you can develop him at this level. His leg strength is what it is, his mechanics can be tweaked to maximize his accuracy and drive, but he's not going to go from a 45 yard range to a 60 with accuracy suddenly. This is why you'll see teams randomly burn a draft pick on one. Going back to 2000, only 49 kickers — now including Moody — have been drafted at all. And of those, only five were taken in the first three rounds of the NFL draft. However, because the NFL draft is also longer now than it used to be, Moody ranks only sixth in overall picks since 2000 — the Cardinals took Bill Gramatica in the fourth round, 98th overall in 2001 https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/jake-moody-49ers-nfl-highest-drafted-kickers/hlxek3a3ggjwlvxaibq5bm64
  10. I think it's time we, as a fan base, cleanse ourselves of the curse of the former Panthers Jimmy. Pickles can't hurt us now. There's a new Jimmy on town and he has actual talent and it's best we just call him Jimmy. I know it stirs up some deep emotions, but it's time. Lol
  11. Put simply, this board's primary base was people here from the beginning until around 2015. The ones who came because Cam never stuck, save for a couple. The rest of us are now 35+ years old with jobs and families in an economy that sees us making more than double what we made 10 years ago and being no better off for it. We just don't have the time to invest in this place.
  12. People are really concerned that a rookie came in and didn't have the right mentality out the gate, admitted it and is now saying in no uncertain terms that he is committed to doing better? Wtf is going on?
  13. I just want Rodgers to play well. I think it'd be a better story. Crazy ass Aaron Rodgers winning would make the sports media lose its mind as they want Pittsburgh to compete and be successful but they want Rodgers to fail but they acknowledge him being a good QB again is best for business.
  14. Something everybody who played high school football in NC under any coach worth a damn learned in June: hydration begins 24 hours before you go to practice. If you're not pissing clear the night before practice, you failed. If you don't wake up to two glasses of water, you've failed. If you don't drink water before practice, you've failed. If you don't drink water between reps, you've failed. If you don't drink water during planned water breaks, you've failed. This is very easy to do. You're gonna be running behind connex boxes and trees and bleachers mid practice sometimes and that is far more acceptable than cramping or stroking out and going to the hospital.
  15. He played like a top half of the league QB to close the year. I think he is near earning his 5th, provided he continues that trajectory.
  16. I think he's answered it partially. After his benching, he showed he CAN BE the guy. The only way to know if he truly is is to see how he starts the season. If he builds off the end of the season last year, we got our guy. Any inconsistency, any regression that is more than an "off game", we have to be prepared to cut ties and move on. It's a cutthroat league for QBs right now. Guys have played better and ended up a backup on a new team the next season.
  17. This sounds like he's pissed and I love it. He knows what we have in our core and doesn't want to squander it. Our core is too good for us to not have a Cup appearance at least. Our bottom 6 need a rework. We need scoring and we need guys who can break the monotony in the offensive zone without breaking the discipline of the system entirely. We need guys who want to score more than they want to not fug up (looking squarely at Aho here). We need more points production. Aho is on par with an aging Ovechkin but we need more. Svech showed flashes of an Evgeni Malkin type but he has to do it each game, not for a quarter of the season. Goddamn I miss Necas.
  18. MVP is Slavin for every game we should have lost because he singlehandedly stopped several good chances by himself lol. If we don't have a different system in place next season which allows for more consistent threats of scoring, I've lost all hope. We're strong as hell defensively because of our system and the concept of wearing the opponent out until they make a mistake isn't a bad strategy to implement...it just can't be the only thing you do. The amount of cross crease passes that led to goals that Florida got on us and the fact that we seldom if ever get similar chances is telling.
  19. Knew he would but it still sucks. Really had hope the neck would heal better for him.
  20. Have we ever played this absolutely pissed off? Lol. Like the boys said fug it, y'all wanna play physical? We'll beat you at that too
  21. Gonna go Hall. Think he makes up for his missed shots with a well placed one early
  22. I'm hard on him but one can be a bum and still develop. He's way too much of a liability right now.
  23. Well let's also not act like Bob isn't Bob. We scored 1 goal because he is on top of everything. I still gotta believe in game 5 in Raleigh.
  24. So, we won a game in the ECF. Feels good. But was it a matter of the Panthers playing poorly due to going too easy, knowing a 3-0 series lead is basically a lock...or did we finally get our poo together? Here's how I am looking at it. - we looked different. Different energy, different approach to the offensive zone. We actually shot the puck, we actually tried to get guys free for cross crease and centering passes. We whiffed a bunch but we tried one timers. - Florida looked different. They seemed to slow as the game went on. Was it frustration and saying fug it, they can have this one, we'll just take game 5 or did the ice time these playoffs finally show signs of wearing on them? They still kept pace for the most part, but we had stretches where we simply beat them to pucks, got them off of pucks, and seemed to be in total control. - it's one game. Until we do it in Raleigh, that's all it is. It's a fluke until it isn't. If we bring this series to 3-2, we have a series. As of now, we still have a lot to prove. - Scott Morrow is an absolute bum and if we had Chatfield, this series is likely 2-2 right now. If we get Chatty back for game 5, we may be able to snowball this series and make it. But that's a big if. How long can Burns and Slavin last pulling double duty shifts? - Nikishin is impactful. He also elevated Orlov, who seemed to be a bit more active which was nice to see.
