It sucks but we have seen that you can basically keep trying guys out over the course of the season until you get it right. Might cost you some W's. In Detroit case, I don't think that is as big of a deterrent.

I really don't know. Some of the cuts we made were a little head scratching. Seems like when we think the staff/FO is gonna zig they zag. Don't really even mean that so much as shade as I don't think we really have enough info on what their master plan or tendencies are yet. It's sometimes hard to predict what their priorities are.

Agreed. He leaned game manager but he was a very effective NFL player. Now, admittedly, I think a bunch of that credit probably lies with Andy Reid but Smith played his part. I would definitely take "prime" Alex Smith over Sam Darnold, lower ceiling or not. And for the people complaining about Smith not being a true franchise QB, okay, fine. But pair that with the success he had in those five years and now we are a serious NFL team to contend with.

If he was able to have the success(team winning wise) that Smith was in KC, abso-fuging-lutely. We have never even had back to back winning seasons. That would be the most successful period in franchise history and would be a big step forward in establishing us as a contending team. We can always go get another guy when the opportunity presents itself(like Mahomes) but that would be a massive step.

They've literally been shuffling them all offseason, so if that is an issue, they retarded the process of gelling pretty considerably. I like most of what Rhule has done with the team and the direction we are headed but I simply cannot figure out what he is doing on the OL. I hope he knows something that the rest of us don't.

I think Rhule took a flier on a younger guy that was more athletic to create some competition(wasted a pick in the process, IMO). It just didn't work out that way. By all account, JJ won that competition fairly easily.
