It's gonna be a long offseason, I suspect. I hope we don't go wild on the spending after creating all this cap space.

This offseason is going to give you a stroke if the early moves are any indication. Hurney 3.0, Silent Partner Edition.

I gotta be honest, if we nuked all our depth(which was already bad) to make a "big signing"...........it's going to be a long "X" amount of years until our next coaching staff, GM and/or owner.

Well, if we are looking at rebuilding Part Deux, I guess we can count on another top 10 draft pick again. Oh well........I did originally say I thought it would be 4-6 years before we would be contenders again. Looks like that could end up being right. Guess we will see what "the plan" is for the rest of the offseason.

Well, I am going to say that I don't see us pursuing Watson if we plan on fielding a team this season. Sounds like we are going to be really active in free agency and need all our draft picks.

This would be light speed stupid to let him go.

Yeah, I don't think the franchise has really earned the right to that benefit of the doubt.

Man, I hope we get him back. He isn't our typical JAG fetish player. He really is a solid rotational guy. I'd rather have fuging paid him than goddamn Stephen fuging Weatherly.

Arm strength is a big deal in the NFL because it means you will be a lot more reliant on being in a system that is suited to shorter throws or having big playmakers. Sean Payton would probably do well with him, Josh McDaniels, etc. He isn't able to make all the NFL throws, however. I would say he is a below average arm strength for the NFL from what I have seen. He does have some nice touch and he seems to process the routes well but, TBH, the offense at Alabama is designed to get the ball into the big time playmakers hands and let them do their thing. Accuracy and decision making CAN improve at the NFL level but a lot of that just depends on the guy. Typically an accurate college passer(which all of the top 4 QB's are very accurate college passers, as is Jones) bodes well for accuracy in the NFL. But, then you have a guy like Josh Allen that has a much higher NFL completion percentage than he had in college football. So it isn't a rule that is the case and outliers do exist. Conversely, someone like Sam Darnold was a very accurate college passer but has been a rather inaccurate NFL passer.

Proven winners haven't always fared well in the NFL. That is the one thing that isn't a 1:1 translation because the college game is so tilted towards power programs and power conferences. Athleticism would be less of an issue if Jones had elite arm talent, but he doesn't. That's the main rub. Not a good athlete AND lacking in arm ability makes it tough. He really has to be very, very elite in everything else and I don't personally see that.

Last year was the most stress free year of Panthers football I have ever watched. I literally just approached it as entertainment and didn't get upset very often. Seeing the wins was nice because it showed we had some real moxy and potential, and the losses didn't bother me much(except for the Redskins one, that one had me pissed) because I knew that the better our draft pick was, the better the shots we had at higher talent level.

Pay close attention to the money and duration of all the deals coming out. That will be a big early indicator of what the market is going to be like.

That is one thing that is going to be interesting to see. There are legit #1 and #2 WR's available this free agent class. Unless there are a lot of teams that want to spend loot on free agent WR's, Samuel COULD end up being more of a bargain signing.

He was a lot more solid tackling this past season. I realize that bar is low.

If he is largely viewed as a slot guy by the league, his value would obviously drop in the open market. One thing that is hard to deny is he is one of the best TO producing DB's we have ever had. That also adds a lot of value.
