It can for sure. If we have an elite QB, a lot of those problems are fixed.

I am a little skeptical of the group overall. High potential but also decent probability that it just doesn't work out for one or more of them. But, I am gonna trust this coaching staff until they show me any reason not to. It's been a long time since we had a WR corps that anyone was threatened by.

I think that waxed and waned. Some periods they definitely dominated us on the 5x5 but I think our peak performance in 5x5 was better than theirs. We just needed them to go in and that didn't happen. And, Freddie played pretty well but one of those goals was just flat out an easy one. He can't make those mistakes. That goes for this series or the next(hopefully). Every round the intensity ramps up and the margin for error gets smaller.

Biggest Boom or Bust Position Group?
kungfoodude replied to CanadianCat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I will go with our pass rushing group(DE's/Edge's). -

Yeah these are not even remotely comparable. A better comparison would be the NHL or NBA and they don't have anything like this.

You saying @TheSpecialJuan is SkyNet???

It's literally his calling card. I don't even understand why the mods get mad at him sometimes. His shtick is so clearly defined at this point.
-
That would be fine but he played under two head coaches here with similar results. This stat pretty much holds up for most elite NFL RB's, BTW. This isn't new information. There are ample articles about spending money on RB's and the overall results. Some going back more than a decade. This story has already been written before CMC ever stepped on an NFL field as a player. It's not a critical position in the modern NFL. It's definitely not a position that most can afford to spend top 5 money on. Hence why the "luxury" post was just plain correct.
-
Well the difference between him playing and not playing had pretty limited impact on W/L during his entire Panthers career. I have posted that stat multiple times. That's kind of the point about elite RB's, though. They rarely have a remarkable W/L impact on any modern NFL franchise. Denying that is kind of silly.
-
I think more of it had to do with the team being built around a guy that ended up being broken beyond repair(Cam). CMC had very little to do with Panthers success. Just look at his W-L record in games played versus games not played. The success of the franchise was always going to revolve around Cam(or any of the successive QB's) and once he was done, so were we.

Yeah but that's for regular people. Rich(especially rich and young) people don't care as much about that kind of stuff. SF has far greater access to badass stuff than CLT. And NC doesn't have access to nearly the kind of attractions for young people that CA does. Doesn't mean I would personally choose SF over CLT but I understand. Plus he is already a WC guy.
-
He is 100% correct about it being a luxury. It didn't help SF win when they were down all their QB's because the league doesn't work like that. Same thing with Henry, Barkley, etc, etc, etc. Without the rest of the pieces around the elite RB, it doesn’t accomplish anything. Elite RB's are purely a luxury, not a necessity.

But we had a braintrust that was also stuck in the past. It obviously made sense to them. Oh well, that era is over. Nothing we can do about it now but move on. I will say that as much as I respect CMC as an amazing player, I don't wish him a bunch of success as a 49er. He kind of said "fug us" and so I feel similarly back. He isn't quite at DeAngelo levels but I will be curious to see if he keeps throwing some shade at us and if the fans turn on him as quickly as they did Williams.

I don't want to see Canes in 4. Not down for that at all. That amount of blood rushing to my groin might kill me.
