fivethirtyeight will switch to scenarios later in the year. NYT is a nice analysis but I have a few problems with it. Plus I subscribe. But we already knew the probability of a 7-1 team making the playoffs based on historical data. It's 95%! The NYT is fairly meaningless in that it adds a bunch of simulations and math but doesn't tell us anything we didn't already know. This is a fairly big no no in the world of big data. But a fun toy nonetheless.
