  1. Seriously, for those who think the Panthers should still find a new HC, do you really trust Tepper making the decision? Wilks may not be an offensive guru or genius this league loves. He's an old school, ground and pound, and strong defense kind of guy. Very much like Rivera in a way. However, he is a leader of men. He has shown time and time again he rallies these players into believing in this team. His leadership may be the most underrated aspect of what a head coach needs to succeed, and may truly be what could make this organization great in the future. In my opinion, it is far more likely for Tepper to botch another HC pick if he moves on from Wilks. I'd say: stick with Wilks, find a great OC to pair with him, and let him lead this team of men into believing.
  2. This is certainly an interesting statement. Whether intentional or unintentional, could be some implications that come along this: Now, it would be no surprise if the Panthers tried tanking behind the scenes. That much is obvious as to why they'd do that. But it is interesting that Wilks made a public statement like this... What say you?
  3. Not much. But a leader is what this team needs the most. A bunch of young guys need someone who can inspire them and push them as a role model. Something we missed sorely under Rhule. Wilks fits that role best of anyone and why he deserves to be the full time Head Coach if given the chance.
  4. If you told me after firing Rhule we'd still have a chance to make it to the playoffs, I'd be ecstatic. Who cares, no QB in this upcoming draft is a sure thing anyways. I'd like to see us finish as strong as we can than see us deflate the rest of the year away.
  5. Darnold still the same old bust. Man, run the ball. You're not Matt Ryan old. You got legs, take the easy first down.
  6. Whatever happened to the Panthers intensity from the first quarter? Not ideal to keep seeing blown coverages and giving Geno gimmies, and Burns flying to the backfield.
  7. Chinn has not been good today, but as the announcers said he funneled him inside, which was his role in that situation.
  8. Darnold needs to work the pocket better. All self inflicted sacks
  9. Let the offensive line dictate the game. Keep Sam Darnold from taking most of the offensive responsibility, and we got a well-oiled team.
  10. Matt Rhule would've had this team flop after the bye and disspirited. What a difference when a real NFL coach is in charge!
  11. Controlling time of possession, methodic drives that keep us driving and slurping time off the clock. In its own way, it's the best way the Panthers can be effective and take advantage of a top tier oline, and when it works it's beautiful.
  12. Our offensive line playing nasty and through the whistle! What a thing of beauty!
  13. What an atrociously horrible take that you should feel bad for even typing. Please, never speak of Horn again.
  14. Nice guy from all accounts of what I've seen and heard about him on the Panthers. Took being demoted with grace and exuded little drama. But this was a necessary move. He brings nothing to the table, and he's regressed heavily even post-Rhule. Sam Darnold and PJ Walker have shown more potential than him as a QB on this team, and they're the furthest thing from world-beaters. Wish him success as a backup in this league, but can't imagine he'd ever land another starting gig for a long time.
  15. Not sure if this is worth creating a post and discussion over, but felt it may be something to watch out for. DJ Moore has recently posted an apology to his wife on instagram, making public that a familial issue came up that possibly involves cheating: https://www.instagram.com/p/ClrxWjPL6Ac/?igshid=Zjc2ZTc4Nzk= Whether this affects his on field performance remains to be seen. Ultimately, hope that he learns from this and comes out a better man.
  16. Anyways back to OP - Kony Ealy was on his way to winning SBMVP had we won, he was playing lights out against the Broncos. In fact, our defense was rock solid. It was our offense that had no WR that could separate against the Broncos secondary and Remmers being a turnstile and giving Cam zero time to do much in the pocket. Literally any above average WR or even an average RT would've gotten us the win. We'd be undefeated if Cam had this current oline for 2015 and it wouldn't even be close.
  17. Painful seeing in hindsight just how Gettleman botched the bag with Smitty. Terrible way of handling one of our best players ever. Drank too much of the "Gettlemagic" kool-aid to realize how much he also destroyed the team while trying to "manage the cap." What could've been...and what could've been had we fixed our mistakes against our lone falcons loss and prepared for those green dog blitz'. Going against a legitimate secondary with no WR open made it hell for Cam to do much of anything. I'm still mad about 2017 too and our loss against the Saints. If Funchess tracked that ball we win and could've had an incredible run too with how Cam was playing. Damn perfect game from Newton but wasn't enough. The talent we wasted those years, I'll never forgive this franchise for squandering it. A disgrace we couldn't get Cam Newton, Ryan Kalil, Greg Olsen, Thomas Davis, and Luke Kuechly a ring in 2015.
  18. With the success of the Eagles this season, it brings to wonder if there are any coaches from there that may be potential HC candidates. According to Allbright, it appears their OC is very much in play: If Tepper does go for an offensive minded coach, would you think Steichen is a real possibility? Of course, I do not know much history behind the guy, but I find it intriguing that he will likely have a hot market. And, if all checks out, perhaps he may be the guy Tepper wants to gun for. What are your thoughts?
  19. Have you seen Matt Ryan play recently? He'd make Darnold and Mayfield look like all pros.
  20. To your first point, that was also a surprise. After PJ's preseason, I had little hope myself he'd turn out to even be serviceable. And while hindsight shows that the game plan against the Rams was to showcase CMC and maximize his trade value, it still didn't look encouraging for PJ. I'd say a lot had to do with how bad the Bucs CBs were. They allowed our wideouts to get a lot more separation than they normally had, plus, well, we arguably had a better offensive plan as well. So PJ had some good windows to throw to, keeping drives going. Even so, it was impressive seeing our offensive line hold up against a pretty elite DL, and PJ making some damn tough throws too when the windows were tight. That was pretty shocking. Plus, well, PJ doesn't lock onto his first read and goes through his progressions, a trait rarely seen from Mayfield and Darnold. Maybe it was a fluke, or maybe he'll continue a good high level of play. Not expecting the latter, but hell I wouldn't complain. This team has gotten more interesting after Rhule for sure. Players seem inspired, everyone's giving their all. It's a breath of fresh air and a good sign for things to come.
  21. Hah. Fair point, I'm certainly not crowning PJ the next Cam Newton. Certainly far from the answer at QB unless proven otherwise. It'd be silly to assume this becomes PJ's standard with so much other tape to the contrary. But the offensive line was the main standout. Gave PJ plenty of time to progress through his reads and lock on for that throw. That should be the main takeaway.
  22. Don't get what you're talking about lol. That was about 3-4 seconds of time before PJ moved over to the left and locked on his target. That's a whole lot more time than the average, and only reason they got past was due to PJ's movement when we was ready to throw. They held well, Chuba picked up well, and it was all great execution and gave PJ plenty of time to let routes develop then hit his target.
  23. Man, it's day and night seeing how well the Panthers offensive line is performing this season. In the wake of PJ Walker's impressive performance last Sunday, credit the offensive line for allowing it to happen. Beautiful pass, but even more beautiful offensive line work. Absolute wall just keeping back the Bucs pass rush from even doing anything. Get some consistency out of the QB position, and the Panthers could really be a force in the future.
  24. Was just about to post that. Seems like a lot of infighting in the Panthers if that's the case. And apparently Jermaine Carter and DJ Moore retweeted this... Steve Wilks is in contention against Phil Snow, primarily with the fact his defense is too light for his scheme to be any sort of effective. Snow maintains a stubborn attitude towards it: And Rhule screwed up getting Charles Dunlap over his tryouts style roster building: Derrick Brown got lighter to be a pass rusher, but Rhule screwed the pooch by not finding a replacement. And Chinn hates Phil Snow: Brian Burns wants out and none of our veterans likes this regime: But most starking of all, Phil Snow is the one with Rhule all the time speaking to Tepper. God.
