RE: Brooks The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. He ended 2 seasons with ACL injuries and was an injured scratch before this season even started. We're damned fools if he's any part of our offensive plans for next year.

Bill Barnwell with encouraging words on the Panthers

Annoyingly, O-Line has to be the priority again this off-season. All the progress we made comes crumbling down if we're not able to sustain offensive drives. We will absolutely regress if we don't have a GOOD answer at LT by the time training camp starts. Outside of that, I'd like to see us bring in a defensive backs coach who emphasizes form tackling. This season was a disaster of missed shoulder tackles, runners falling forward for extra yards, and friendly fire injuries. And I still really want to see a game-changing MLB again. I know it's like asking for a winning lottery ticket, but after a decade of Beason and Luke, it just seems like such an integral part of the Panthers identity. -
For all intents and purposes he's done. He's at best a "maybe" to ever play a snap of football again for us or anyone else. LT now has to be our top priority in the offseason. There go my dreams of a 1st round MLB.

If you're not proud of this team after that performance...

Honestly, a nail biter loss after putting up 30+ on the board is IMO the best outcome. Next week, someone it getting clapped by Seattle. I'd rather we end the season with our chins held high for having over performed than getting embarrassed by a rested Seahawks team that absolutely dominated us once. -
I'm a doubter. I have been a doubter. I was a doubter this game. No longer. He did what he needed to do. What he could do. I mean poo, he was down 14-0 and had us down by a field goal before the half. That's poise! I still doubt he's a future champion, but grudgingly I must admit, he earned his spot. He earned his 5th year option. He's not the reason we lost. He played well enough to win in the playoffs. That says everything I need to know about him.

Most realistic scenario in this thread so far, to be fair...

There's currently 7 other open HC slots in the league. There is no way McDaniel will need to take a step back to OC unless he wanted to.

It has to be A on this poll. If he shows up in the Playoffs? That's where you need your QB to succeed. So yeah, you go into next year with him as your starter. More realistic and worst case scenario. He looks... fine. He doesn't play well enough to win us the game. He doesn't play bad enough to be acknowledged as the problem. And so we spend another off-season paralyzed. Not feeling like he was bad enough that we need to make a move, but not good enough to be our QB of the future. So we end up loading up for another year of Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde Bryce and mediocre ball.

He better shout when he comes out the tunnel. -
TBF, I had that thought when I thought Lamar was the one who was looking to get out.
-
Honestly that was my thought earlier today. Pull off a Rams/Lions trade. Bryce plus a first for Lamar. Honestly it's a win for both teams. Fresh scenery for Lamar, Baltimore gets a younger QB with arguably a ceiling he hasn't reached yet, and Bryce moves into a situation that's set up perfectly for him to succeed (if that's remotely possible).

This seems like it should be obvious but what this season has taught me is First Principles. Simplicity. What really impressed me about both TMac and Coker is first and foremost, they catch the goddamn ball. And more importantly, they both make that look EASY. They catch the ball the way a dog snags a Frisbee. It's just natural. Everything else is secondary. I don't care about your 40 speed, your route running, your college stats. I want to see you pick the ball out of the air like an apple off a tree. XL can do a lot, he has the size, speed and physique. But I'm always so baffled how he can make a routine reception look like a circus catch. Catching doesn't seem natural to him. And it's the same story on the defense. I just want to see someone who can fuging TACKLE! We got so many guys leading with their shoulders. Looking to hit the truck stick. But then they just completely whiff. So that's what I'm hoping to see us focus on going forward. Follow the example of Coker and TMac and find guys who first and foremost are fundamentally sound. The rest will all fall into place.

We seem to counter what the Rams do well. This is probably the best matchup if we wanted to sniff the divisional round. Contain Puka. Harass Stafford. Feed Coker. We legitimately can outscore them if we don't get cute.
