  1. Tanking is real. It’s just not something actively done on Sundays. Front offices tank teams though. The Jets front office tanked them the last season Sam Darnold was there because it became evident they had to start over.
  2. His job was apparently some 7 year rebuild from the ground up. reality is we have no direction or vision or really any evidence anything is being built. Rhule frankly is just as far along building something as the day he was hired. still just renting castoff vet QBs. No team identity. Trading away draft picks. Poor coaching. We just added a bunch redemption tour coaches for the most part being billed as a great staff.
  3. you can find quotes going into 2021 that hit relatively all the same notes. You can almost name any team going into any season and the talk is good heading in.
  4. Selah won 4 games with a rookie Rhule won 5 with a vet (twice) Jets looked better than the Panthers at the end of last season. I’m not sure that casts Selah in a more negative light than Rhule. Jets at least went the route of actually rebuilding and attempting to build a new from the ground up. Rhule just in no man’s land. New vet the league rejected as a starter each season. Already on a 2nd coordinator and I don’t think anyone can actually declare what our vision really is at this point. We have a HC that keeps rambling about running the football and hiring OCs that don’t.
  5. what are people ignoring? There is no factual good on Rhule as a NFL coach. Matt Rhule isn’t a good NFL coach. And I don’t think there is an actual argument he was a great college coach either.
  6. I think the BOA crowd determines his fate. If we are losing and he is getting booed out by midseason (like last year)…..he gets fired in season. Rhule better have something to show for after Brady/Tampa get done beating us at BOA. If not, that IMO will be a bad crowd for Rhule. Rhule is going to need to win early and at home. If he does that he probably can last the season.
  7. Dang, no TMJ. Was looking forward to seeing him.
  8. mad is for things that actually matter. I'm just talking about a bad football coach for entertainment.
  9. I'm definitely not saying he was coming as the perfect prospect, or without baggage or without stuff to prove. all can be true and you still be better than Sam Darnold. I still maintain if you erased draft position, history and money.....Sam is closer to the PJ Walker tier than the Baker tier. If cost and history wasn't a factor, PJ vs Sam is the actual competition.
  10. I mean, it's not my narrative Baker Mayfield is better QB than Sam Darnold. That is the overall national narrative. And it was the overall collective local narrative too. I mean, you can always find guys in the click media looking to take the counter opinion. Or guys tied to an org throwing support toward guys. and I thought Sam would win the "competition". But me saying that had nothing to do with Sam Darnold being better than Baker. It was rooted in other things. Rhule nonsense. I 100% believed he had a real chance to win it. But him being better had zero to do with him getting the nod and me saying that.
  11. but looking at that was depressing, our 3rd round picks post Trai Truner in 2014. Maybe Tremble can break that streak. It's been pretty much 1 or 2 seasons and disappear.
  12. True, he got cut but then made PS and eventually the actual roster that season. LOL I cheated and just looked if they were on the roster that year. Guess that's why I missed that one. He showed up on the roster and I missed him. So that is 2 3rd rounders that got cut. He must of looked really bad. He made it through waivers. Cardinals picked up the guy in 1996.
  13. it's missing the mark and it's missing the actual complaint. Sam Darnold can't beat Baker in an actual competition. He is simply a better QB. The outcome of who is better is known before the competition were to occur. Therefore, people don't want a competition. And it's why outside of Carolina, it has also been deemed bogus. People wanted Rhule to bring in someone else to compete with Sam in 2021. Because the outcome of a competition between Sam Darnold and a Gardner Menshew type isn't actually known. Who is better. Baker is a legit starting QB. Sam isn't a legit starting QB. Sam is the worst QB in the NFL over the last 4 years. We complained that Sam was just given the job given he is what he is. They aren't the same things.
  14. Well, I went down the wormhole. It has occurred only once in Panther history for our 3rd round pick. We have cut some 5th, 6th, and 7th rounders. 1996 - DT - J.C. Price out of Virginia Tech Carolina Panthers Draft History | Carolina Panthers - Panthers.com
  15. a Joe Brady type would have needed to go to a team like KC (under Reid) or Tampa (under Arians). Stud QB where the HC frankly can do the heavy lifting of the OC job while the coordinator develops. Instead, we had Matt Rhule over Joe Brady and gave him Sam Darnold. That's not how you develop an OC. Matt Rhule didn't even know college offense. It's like saying John Fox could develop an OC and put him in charge of it.
  16. Gruden was an offensive coordinator in the NFL though. That's the type HC that could actually bring in a Joe Brady type gamble. That makes the Gruden/McVay example vastly different IMO. Rhule didn't know NFL offense. NFL practices. Rhule isn't an offensive guy in reality. And hasn't been an OC on any level.
  17. I think Baker, Sam, and Corral make the official roster. I think they cut PJ and bring him back to the practice squad.
  18. Rhule said a week ago the starters wouldn't play. Rhule said joint practice were largely for the starters. But Bill is playing his. I think it goes back to Rhule copying people last preseason. Reality was those 2 teams last year were simply only going to expose their studs QBs (Lamar and Allen) to 1 preseason game and he mimicked what they did.
  19. It is sunk cost fallacy. and they aren’t going to go from co/starter to cut. The entire Rhule era is a story of QB mismanagement.
  20. Sam isn't going anywhere. He is the biggest cap hit on our roster. And you really can't cut him and keep PJ and Corral. Because it just highlights what a complete mess our front office is on talent evaluation and contracts. Keep Sam and you can at least argue that well, Baker was a steal and slightly better. Cut Sam and you just are forced to admit you probably shouldn't be in charge of a NFL team IMO.
  21. I'm not as anti-PJ as some here. That said, he makes zero sense to be on our roster though given what and where we are. We certainly shouldn't be dedicating so much work for him just to be auditioning for other teams.
  22. But the take on Matt Rhule was never....Matt Rhule is hands off but just was forced into micromanaging Joe Brady. The take on Matt Rhule is simply that he is a micromanager that has to put his fingerprint on everything football related. Those coaches exist. McAdoo worked under one in NY. They are what they are.
