Jim Caldwelll needs to go. And quick. Not sure why so many don’t seem to care he is still hanging around. What was his job last year??? And on top of that, who is still in Tepper’s good graces after the Game of Thrones reporting on Frank? Caldwell certainly seemed to of skyrocketed in standing in Tepper’s eye. I don’t view that as good at all.

Doubling down on Young. I don't like it. We NEED Young insurance.
CRA replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
If he doesn’t improve we just need to let him be our Jimmy Clausen and give the new HC a freebie season. Last thing we need is some long time not good enough vet getting us to 6 pointless wins. We need talent. I’d be cool spending our 3rd on a QB that falls….pending he never sees the field. Because that’s just going to likely ruin his odds too. -
Now I just need confirmation that Jim Caldwell is no longer on the payroll and I’ll be fine with it all
-
I’m not implying Ejiro isn’t a good coach. He is good. I just don’t think a new HC that is also tasked with installing a good culture in a franchise that has none…..should be assigned a staff, that largely was the staff assigned to the last fired HC.
-
if basically the only change is Frank/Brown and keeping everything as is or promoting from what was there…..that’s too much of the old for my liking. We have a lot to issues to fix. Lack to culture is one. I’m a firm believer we need new people/faces. Preferably ones the new HC wants and isn’t assigned. I don’t think any new HC should be assigned most of his key staff.

J person, Athletic. Canales has one job Fix Young
CRA replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
It’s the NFL. No one gets 3 years while being bad just because…. This is make it or break it for Bryce. He has to get better to stay on the field after this season. If this year looks like last year….he isn’t going to be a starter in his 3rd season. -
batted balls is a weird thing. Cam has them because he would throw ropes/lasers and it didn’t matter if it was a short route. He would throw a fastball 5 yards downfield. That makes it easy to block if you guess right as a defender given their height Bryce can’t see a lot of throws. Bryce also didn’t sit in the same area of the pocket as consistently as a Cam type QB. Bryce’s size and arm just flat out took things off the table whether it be throws, open players, attempts or ability to call things.
-
Yes and no. But I would say generally the fixes at this level aren’t dealing with some key issues Bryce has outside of his footwork Bryce’s size and arm can’t be fixed. Which means he has to be able to play QB at an insane level to overcome such and ever be worth the pick or sticking with long term.

I can’t think of a single WR that should be back outside of Mingo. And that’s just because we just drafted him.
-
Fine hire from a O perspective. But we have to wait and see if Tepper is going to screw him and repeat his patterns. if Ejiro, Tabor, Caldwell, all remain…..Tepper hasn’t learned anything. Guy is pretty green so I could see Tepper wanting to build out his staff for him.
-
He only become a legit 2nd tier QB….on Vrabel’s team though. Vrabel opened with 5 straight winning seasons. I wouldn’t call that a one Cinderella run. His teams were tough and Vrabel is a smart in some coach. a hard nose, tough, culture guy who is also smart….seems exactly like what we need to climb out of the gutter. But I don’t see it happening. What Vrabel is….isn’t going to fly with Tepper
-
I’ve already given my worst case scenario. Tepper - Owner Morgan - GM Ejiro - HC Caldwell - overseeing Thomas Brown 2.0 Tabor - ST basically the survivors of Game of Thrones season 1. We need a 100% clean slate and brand new culture installed.

11 minutes of what true NFL ownership looks like…. BY A WOMAN!
CRA replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I bet when you look into the Lions draft room....she isn't sitting smack dab in the middle of it. -
I think he is self reflective, I just don't think he is NFL smart. I think his self reflection to date has just caused him to do 180s and overcorrect. And even if he did stumble across someone good, not sure he could endure the growing pains to see the fruits of it. Who knows. Can only guess. Vrabel also is set to interview in Atlanta before us. Which is a better job. Sometimes these very public scheduled interviews aren't always about that job...and it can be about adding pressure elsewhere that someone else might get you.
-
For all I know this is a token Sportsology interview. Proof is in the pudding and Tepper to date has shown no indication of being a net positive owner. He is still front and center and it certainly looks like he enjoys stacking all decisions in his favor. I would glad to be wrong. Vrabel IMO is the best hire out there.
-
right that man an absurd check when he walks in the door and tell him he can hire anyone he wants!!! I would wager that interview has odds of going poorly given what Tepper likes. Vrabal is the polar opposite of anything Tepper has been around. An "a hole" some would say. Little surprised they even got him to come in.

Tell me it isn't happening...and there is a zero % chance
CRA replied to CRA's topic in Carolina Panthers
lol. Yeah, if I told you Jim Caldwell was going to be tasked with helping find the new GM and the new GM was already here.....people would have called that crazy a couple months ago. Ejiro has already made it to round 2 of interviews. It's not crazy to think given what world Tepper is creating for the next HC.....Ejiro might be the guy who is agreeable to taking it on and others are resistant IMO. Better odds of Ejiro than Ben Johnson if my money is on the line. I'm not saying what I propose is the likely outcome. But a variation of that is on the table at this point. Folks better prepare themselves for this gigantic change next year not actually coming to fruition as a reasonable outcome IMO. -

I mean, we are attempting to attract a new HC. Then you got Tepper telling him who the majority of his top staff are? That's generally not how it goes. Especially if you are the worst team in the NFL and the job is to change the culture here. -

CRA replied to CRA's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mean, there are only 32 in the world. Tepper does have the ability to make the opening less attractive than it is. Which I think he continues to do. Largely his involvement continues. And he continues IMO to handicap the new HC and many likely would view it as such. Morgan as much as people like the player.....probably makes the job less attractive to many. I would think a good HC candidate would be wanting to come in here and tackle the problem w/ a new GM (preferably one he knows). What are we offering? Come work with an in house guy that helped get us to the bottom. Oh, and the owner is going to likely want to tell you who your staff is. -

in theory I would get Vrabel. In reality, Vrabel ain't coming. Why would he. I thought the job was an unattractive as it got when it opened. I think it is becoming less attractive by the day. That's why I think a nightmare has potential to really be cooking up here. Which is really going to favor the leftovers from season 1 of Game of Panthers. -
Owner- Tepper GM - Morgan HC - Evero Some made up job overseeing a Thomas Brown 2.0 - Caldwell ST - Tabor QB - Young RB - Hubbard/Sanders WR - the same dudes plus another rookie

Florio ain't "kissing the ring" or Tepper's ass apparently. (On Morgan)
CRA replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
well, let's take a look at Adam Peters. He and Morgan entered their roles as assistant GMs at the same time. Peters? People were looking at him for GM jobs after 2021. They were looking at him again after 2022. They were looking at him again, this year. Dan Morgan ever interviewed with anyone? Not just this cycle. I mean, he is just a Tepper add if there ever was one. Sportsology isn't going to be looking inside BOA for the solution to this nightmare. And the solution being someone they nor anyone else in the business has wanted to get in a room. -

CRA replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Underrated point not talked about enough….Dan Morgan wasn’t being looked at by anyone else. Thankfully, we got Jim Caldwell and the Teppers to find him. And they didn’t even have to look hard. That’s why they all needed to be on board. Sportsology was likely looking at all the good candidates and wouldn’t of seen it -
Donnelly: Process used to hire Morgan was wrong
CRA replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
So far all the fix is just the failed parts fixing things. Tepper/Nicole/Jim Caldwell “finding” the new GM that was just a guy part of the nightmare. And if you actually are prioritizing Sportsology to lead you to an answer you don’t bring on Jim Caldwell….and there are tiny odds Sportsology is going to find the answer to our mess inside our mess. Common sense says that just Teppers/Caldwell steering it. and yeah, it all sets up for Morgan to go quick and musical chairs to continue. Because all the reasons Fitterer shouldn’t have been back this year will largely apply to Morgan. Morgan helped create this nightmare at the end of the day. the love of player Morgan has blinded some folks. It was a bad hire given what Morgan has been part of and what we have been. Everything from Caldwell helping to hire has been exactly how you shouldn’t do it. Textbook Tepper at this point. More and more it wouldn’t surprise me if Ejiro is the new HC. Because that’s the path we are on. -
Really looking forward to season GOT 2. Spoilers! Where Tepper gets Jim Caldwell to help find a GM Where Jim Caldwell gets Morgan hired as GM and then Morgan gets Ejiro hired as HC
