REPORT: Panthers and Brian Burns not at all close to extension
CRA replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers

The contracts are the contracts. What do elite pass rushing specialist get? That’s not opinion. now, it is my opinion Burns is an elite pass rusher. He isn’t Julius Peppers 2.0. Burns has done little outside of rush the passer in the NFL at a high level.

Acknowledging the current market/money for skills/players isn’t living in the past. what are elite pass rushers getting? That’s what Burns should be hovering around

REPORT: Panthers and Brian Burns not at all close to extension

If we have zero pass rush without Burns on the field….we got a lot problems in reality. Evero should be able to scheme up pressure. He did it in Denver when they traded Chubb. If he can’t, the rest of the roster is a pretty big issue. -
We frankly brought in a better pass rusher than Burns not long ago. We let him go after a year. He went on to sign a deal that is reflective of elite pass rushers. Which is Burns. Which isn’t Bosa money.
-
Shouldn’t matter. Bosa’s deal shouldn’t be steering Burn’s that much. They aren’t comps.
-
A deal isn’t done because Burns wants elite DE money and he should get elite pass rush money. And those things aren’t the same. But I wager Fitt caves and does a contract we regret. Front office will feel the heat coming off this disaster Rhule era

If FSU was a SEC school they would have started the season higher than 8. Clemson would be higher than 9 too. All SEC schools get favoritism in the early polls.
-
SC lost a lot of talent off of what was really Dr Jeckyl and Mr Hyde team last year. Hard to really gauge them.
-
That guy is awesome. His stuff last football season was great. * I think he is a Carolina guy. Which would explain the Rhule nod at the end. His early stuff was always real heavy Clemson themed.
-
Did he say all that with his thick fake southern accent? I’m still not sure how they didn’t fire him on the spot for that lol.

ACC doing it vs this small time conference
-
FSU QB just playing stupid the last couple drives.
-
Opening week. Lot of bad football, not necessarily bad teams always show up week 1.
-
Maybe don’t do that Mr LSU QB. Damn.
-
Comes down to QB IMO in terms of Clem/FSU. FSU has the more known and proven QB so they got the 8 and Clemson the. 9. I got no issue with it as a Clemson fan. they play pretty early this year though so that gets answered and sorted pretty quick in the ACC

I don’t watch tons of UNC, generally when I do I feel Mack would annoy me as my teams HC. all 3 timeouts, a minute on the clock, one of the top QBs in college football…. and he just let the clock run out. UNC was slated to get the ball back in the 2nd half. That’s a lot of coaches dream scenario.

What’s your most overrated and underrated position group?
CRA replied to Wundrbread33's topic in Carolina Panthers
Overrated - backfield. Underrated - probably OL at this stage. Because they aren’t as trash as preseason suggests. -
Doug Pederson at 6% and ahead of some of those guys seems really weird
-
Real question is, is the UNC front that improved? Or is the SC OL just that much trash or somewhere in the middle
-
rankings really shouldn’t come out until week 4 or later. Too many teams build credit off teams defaulted into early rankings.
-
Sanders is good. But Colorado was also a complete unknown given the roster changes and staff to prep for….and that TCU D is likely a dumpster fire. I think you got to wait before crowning Sanders as the 2nd best in college football. He might be.

Cardinals are 100% in an orchestrated tank

Trevor was a #1 overall. I think he was a better prospect than Young too. But he isn't a generational talent. At least how I define it.

I mean, you are in the conversation. I think you should be in the ACC Championship. But if you think Clemson and Florida St are both favored to win over UNC.....how high can someone nationally rank a team viewed as the 3rd best in the ACC? I mean, the discussion is their current national ranking? If the UNC D improves? Well, I think people would adjust the rankings/odds as the season goes on. But it's tough to ignore how bad that D was. And I think that how bad D is, is more costly to UNC over Southern Cali. UNC plays more teams that play defense. So their O faces more resistance. And that bad D becomes a bigger liability in conference play than it does for USC.
