  1. Dude is screwed. Go all Steve Wilks and win a couple more games in spite of Bryce……the org is going to keep him tied to Bryce. You got to at some point just call games as they should even if it means losing to get rid of Bryce IMO
  2. I’m old enough to remember Canales not calling preseason plays because after 2 years of calling plays in the NFL and just one with this team…..other people needed the reps more than him
  3. Do not do this. This is the NFL. Rams could easily just sleepwalk cross country and play down to an inferior team and still comfortably win by 7 (that isn't as close as the final score says)
  4. I think Geno fits. Not that I want that. They got history. He fits the scheme. It's why he worked in Seattle and only Seattle. I also don't think Canales is some QB guru. I think the NFL is about fit. He coached in places where the QBs fit the scheme. He doesn't now. I've been hammering the fit mantra since the day we drafted Bryce. He has never fit anything we have done. He doesn't fit much. And you aren't making him fit and work in Frank's or Dave's O.
  5. we didn't draft him but we picked up Chinn in the 2nd round. He was basically the good deal version of Simmons.
  6. the can do everything on a college football field super kid....that fits nowhere in the NFL.
  7. Canales flat out needs a playmaking QB. Lot of OCs do. I still say Canales is best paired w/ a Jake Delhomme style QB. Preferably a smarter and more athletic type. It fits the tree he comes from. Downfield gambler. Type that can make a play when the playcalls just aren't there (Baker did a lot bailing out on 3rd and long).
  8. I think Kaye is selling some bologna with that take.....presenting fairly even sample of great, okay and bad. They don't split like that. I mean, selling Bryce/Canales as "fine" with the freaking Jets game? Bryce had 138 yards and they were horrible there. First Atlanta game? Bryce had 121 yards and couldn't move the ball (they didn't need to but still tried). Phins? Bryce was horrible and Rico carried us out of the hole w/ an all-time performance. There aren't 3 blocks the games fall fairly even into. It's been largely all bad and subpar play from Bryce and Canales. You basically give him the one Atlanta game as the great one. One okay game with Dallas (that was all Rico eating that game and Bryce getting some scraps off that). The rest bad/subpar. The games fall overwhelming into the bad/subpar tier....and that's not what he is portraying. He is still putting some spin on there Bryce/Canales shouldn't be getting.
  9. I mean, Tepper is an issue. I think we use him as the scapegoat for the bad of others though. We seem to always want it to boil down to 1 guy. And it sort of contradicts what we know of Tepper. Tepper is a bad decision maker that moves on from bad decisions. Nowhere does the Tepper ego have him tripling down on bad mistakes. That's not his thing. I mean, I do believe the reporting of the split in house decision on Bryce. I think it is logical that that the split was front office and coaches. Tepper was the audience. He sided with the front office. But Scott Fitterer did his sales job on Bryce Young with his team. Fitterer's team is helping shape Fitterers viewpoint. Dan Morgan was Fitterer's #1 guy and Dan's current staff all feed the Bryce Young narrative IMO.
  10. Yeah, I actually think folks are way too hard on Person. Tepper has done a good job of squashing real reporting locally. Person carries decent odds of being the guy who might ask something they don’t want
  11. add in offensive head coach. 5 of the last 6 first and second round picks have gone to the O.
  12. I'm not doing the 100% scapegoat thing we so often to do here. Clearly, the Bryce Young issue has a lot to do with the folks in the front office. Morgan and his team are part of the problem.
  13. none of these players are comps. That's where the Bryce gymnastics fall apart. They all showed things Bryce hasn't.
  14. it was evident after his rookie year, he lacked the tools to play in this league. and it was also evident, unless you were going to 100% on some gimmick offense w/ elite YAC players all over the field there was really no point. we have been wasting time because we can't accept we picked a dud despite getting a real quick and clear answer.
  15. I'll be honest, I'd be trying to get out the Rams game if I was him (especially w/ Horn now likely out)
  16. Becomes Drew Brees? There is no path for such a comp. Brees was able to survive being a noodle armed QB late in his career......after he developed into one of the best passers in NFL history and used all that elite play/knowledge/career to help mask his deficiencies as an old player.
  17. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/49ers-jauan-jennings-throws-postgame-punch-at-panthers-player-in-retaliation-for-cheap-shot-low-blow/ I mean, talk about a perfectly executed, clean and direct hit......
  18. impossible to throw out the rookie season. Bryce is bad even under really good circumstances. So yeah, a bad rookie version of Bryce being so bad.....had a great deal to do with that trainwreck being what it was. Bryce was why the best landing spot for a rookie was an instant nightmare. A really horrific QB was forced on a staff and team that can't do NFL basics.
  19. Canales IMO was screwed the moment they allowed the Bryce Young "comeback" last season. Which to me was Morgan and the front office screwing him by not immediately trading him after they "moved on". if you are Canales how do you get rid of Bryce? Because if you coach the Panthers to a win last night in spite of Bryce....which a decent coach likely could of or should of.....you are going to end up w/ Bryce Young again next year doing so. so to an extent, Canales has to treat him like he is supposed to. It's a double edge sword and lose lose scenario for Dave.
  20. Not only that, but on a team that has basically gone organizational all in on offense the last several years
  21. 1 completion over 20 yards 2 completions over 10 yards Bryce Young is an arena league QB. In his career, he averages almost 100 yards more per game in a dome vs outside. He is basically an average QB in a dome over his career. He is backup caliber outside. You can’t compete in the NFL when being able to challenge for 200 yards is the ultimate test week in and week out for your tiny middle school QB. That’s the story. 3 years tell the story. He should not even be part of a competition next year. It’s a fraudulent comeption if your battle for #1 features a dude that isn’t starting caliber and doesn’t have the potential. I’ll say it again, 2025 Bryce Young is 2022 Matt Rhule. It’s was always pointless going into this year with him. All the answers were known before week 1. Some just denied the known.
  22. Canales’ argument was basically….well if you can’t try and build off of Young’s pass game vs Atlanta then when can you with him IMO. I mean the answer is you can’t and Bryce stinks. The charade should be over. there is nothing to build and develop with Bryce. He stinks and after so many times of stinking he will have a random game where he doesn’t. The gameplan every week should be the QB stinks and how many times can I give Rico the ball
  23. Play anyone long enough and they luck into random good days. Thats Bryce.
  24. I don’t even think Dave did that. I think that would just be running Rico all game. I don’t know what that was all I know is, all those folks that defended the buffoonery going into this season with Dave Canales pretending he didn’t need playcalling work, Bryce didn’t need heavy reps etc should quit defending glaring red flags when they are smacking you in the face. A bottom tier starting QB and good coach probably would win the NFCS this year with Rico, our run blocking and D
