  1. Sure but LT is more like QB where scarcity requires adaptation. WR and Safety have plenty of guys coming out that can go the obvious route in their respective types. My example wasn't really well done I guess.
  2. Would that be like route skills and catching vs potential and big body at WR?
  3. It was such an overcorrection. Not having safeties that can cover just ignores everything the NFL has done the last 20 years. There is a front 7 and those guys need to be stronger against the run. Now a safety that can also tackle along with coverage? That's the dream.
  4. Yeah that's it. Could have had Chinn at half the price. It was a mistake and I think they will have to eat that one hard this year.
  5. I agree. The safety room looks bad and I think they already made their knee jerk reaction by signing Moehrig after committing to stopping the run in so many other places. That unit is set up for disaster IMO. Jackson nor Horn can't cover everyone themselves and if the passrush doesn't materialize then it gets real ugly. Richardson is the wild card but if you ask me to bet on the Panthers developing talent it's not one I'm taking, especially from Evero.
  6. As it stands our safeties look like liabilities at this point. Not sure Blackmon helps much given how Moehrig is basically useless in coverage. Moehrig and Scott are huge red flags if that's their day 1 starters. Not sure Evero makes it through the season season if that is the case.
  7. I like the first 2 for sure. Still they went and blew money on a SS that can't cover. They desperately need one that can or they are going to have containment issues. They have one special teamer who sucks and one young guy who hasn't done much of anything which is an improvement over the first guy. It's still a need unfortunately.
  8. Not landing a safety in the first 3 rounds is going to be a hard fail for me just like no RB or WR later eould also be fails in this draft. Edge and FS look really bad without talent injections at this point.
  9. The 5th option is an easy call. He already lit a fire himself after his 2nd season was bad. Even if he isn't a HoFer his 5th option should be an easy call. Long term negotiations shouldn't even enter into that but it should lean into it by giving a tradable year to the Panthers if he is negotiating that poorly. The only angle I get is that it effects the draft process and Moton. That's weird because of how poorly all of that has been since Tepper showed up. They figure out how to do basic draft posturing but still keep a dead weight DC comimg off of terrible season while building a D around that? Too difficult to guess but it's going to be interesting to watch it play out. It's just too hard to expect basic competencies still. Wel will see what the hell that is really all about.
  10. I'm all for pushing him to take that next step but he is already a solid LT so the 5th option should be an easy call even if negotiations go sideways. Morgan needs to worry about dragging the D is to respectability because it's still not looking close to good.
  11. 'We are great' turns into 'ohh poop' real fast in the NFL. Moton has a 1 year contract and they just spent big on 2 OGs and a LT coming up on his big payday. He shouldn't be here next year given all of that. It's already the highest paid Oline. Teams need rookie contracts. How healthy is he anyways has to be added into thst mix too. All the home grown moaning is just a thing because they have been terrible at drafting and the stupid trade up to #1 IMO. Moore is the only one we are really missing. The OTs look better than the TEs and WRs. The entire buffet of D options is in that 'maybe but' category where need gives them more value.
  12. I would rather have the FS than Golden. Golden looks solid, like him more than Tet from what I have seen. Still not ending up with the best playable immediately talent on the D would be a hard fail in round 1. The D's free agency injection was a start but not close enough to where it needs to be.
  13. My 2 big negatives are not upgrading a one of many positions that needs improvement and not a good look for a franchise that is at the bottom of the leauge in wins recently. Bringing in a rookie to play next to Hunt and offsetting his bloated contract with a rookie contract is what good teams would do. It's set up for next year anyways and his health is an unknown at this point. No idea about the savings this year it would be a cya move moving forward for sure. Also, there could be a hole in the center of the line so it's not like improvement isn't unwelcome long term, even if they really need to find players on the D to inject imediate competition at the minimum. They still need to take one some time this draft and I'm fine with a later development type guy of Moton's wheels have one last year in him.
  14. Best news of the offseason. No one who is available at 8 will be much different than in the twenties this year. Trade back with an additional 2nd is still my wish scenario.
  15. The only part of this that is surprising post Carr is anyone wanting Rogers with the totality of what he showed in NJ. Dude is nothing but a name and a bag of cancer he brings with him. I'm glad Sanders is heating up. It increases the chances of a trade back and that's absolutely what I am still wishing for.
  16. I only think they do that trade for Sanders if we are talking to other teams at 8. If they were woried about us taking their pick they would try and jump to 7. I have no idea what they want to do if Carr is not dead weighting their roster this year but they have to be looking hard now.
  17. Right? From every angle it's a win. Not sure if getting more and sending it elsewhere or watching the Saints take Sanders while having to eat Carr's dead money appeals to me more still. Either way win-win for the Panthers
  18. Just take less value for a trade back this year. 'But the trade value chart'... just doesn't matter when an extra 2nd should be enough to move back this year given the situation. I would take an extra 2nd over any player that could potentially be there at 8 and it's not close. Let the media bitch about it, just doesn’t matter if we walk away with an edge, FS and WR in the first 2 rounds given how close all of that talent is when looking at it big picture. Fug the value chart and just give me a decent additional 2nd for the win. All it takes is someone falling in love with Sanders or the RB or whatever. If there was more talent in this draft then that would be a terrible idea but turning down a trade because the value was less than other years when the tellent is obviously less at the top of this draft would just show how poorly the people in charge understand this class and it's weaknesses. It would be like not finding a slot WR or RB later, just dumb IMO.
  19. Having Sanders go to the Saints is the consolation prize for not being able to trade back. That is a QB we should love playing agaisnt twice a year.
  20. Olsen was drafted with pick 31. Why are we comparing the epitome of a quality TE without burst to the bust of Pitts (terrible hands for a receiving TE) and Howard (just an all around bust)? Olsen was a great 2nd round TE taken 2 picks early. That's what Warren looks like...well he looks slower than Olsen by a bit to me. In no reality is that worth a top 10 pick IMO. It's going to be fun watching the team that drafts him realize his speed and size won't look the same in the NFL. Maybe we can trade for him like we did with Olsen in year 3 or 4 of his rookie deal.
  21. Too early to tell. It's different in that aspect but if the draft is the same old then it's just polishing the turd. Not going on prodays was a basic step towards bare minimum. We will see.
  22. I think the Teppers are terrible at football but they aren't clueless about everything. Tepper made a big effort to distance himself from the draft last year after the debacle of a process of 23'. He clearly learns somethings but then the 24' draft is the same old since he showed up with 'new' faces even with his efforted distance. Look I want improvement to happen. I want the Teppers to become better owners. I just need to see more than basic pr moves that anyone with experience would suggest to belive it's truely meaningful. Even if they are not meddling to the previous levels, and that's an if still, then they need to learn to hire better. I think Tillis has been their only quality hire since purchasing the team. Morgan sticking around after his work from '23 was a terrible sign, even if I loved him as a player. Keeping Evero giving the quality of his work is a terrible sign too. Morgan can make all the faces he wants and sit in his chamber as long as he wants but he isn't impressing me at all as a GM. The last draft was not good and I'm waiting to see if meaningful change shows up there this year. Plenty of people said Young would struggle, just not the useless tslking heads. I also remember the consensus flipping to Young once the leaks started. The leaks are 2 for 2 the last 2 years. We are 2 weeks out and I haven't seen the obvious signs so that may be an improvement too...even if it is also a basic concept in the NFL.
  23. Sanders isn't worth it. He looked like a polished but limited QB. They should have learned after Pickett but finding out they are desperate enough to do something that dumb wouldn't be surprising given their situation. Take that trade. Take a trade with a discounted value too. 21 is fine. Getting 2nds in 26 and 27 vs a 1st in 26 is fine. This is a 5 win team that needs a lot of chances are young talent. The people in the 20s won't be thst much different than at 8 in this draft. I would rather have their 2nd than the rest of the picks this year. Getting a 2nd this year would be ideal given the talent in that range.
  24. The only people that don't like Olsen in that job are the people who hated watching their team play him. Years of ex-players that make mute a better option during games make him a stud in comparison.
