  1. To answer the chicken little question, we're honestly not in horrible shape long term. We don't have a first in 2024, but have it in 2025. Realistically speaking we will know if Bryce is that dude by the end of next season heading into the 2025 draft where we can then re-evaluate and take another QB if necessary. We aren't in horrible long term shape, just mid short term shape in terms of draft assets due to the lack of first round pick next draft.
  2. I agree with this without the optimism, if that makes sense. I expect the ball to start rolling for us around week 8, at which point I see us making a playoff push, but not necessarily being contenders.
  3. He ran well at the end of last season too. Looked like he is carrying it over year over year which is encouraging to see. Still don't trust him to catch a cold though.
  4. Chicago had him for a few games last year and the fans loved him because he apparently helped secure them the #1 pick. So that says something...
  5. My thoughts exactly. First pick was more a great play by the safety than a bad read by Bryce. Second one though was a bad throw/decision and like he didn't even see him. Bryce went through full field reads the entire game, which is something not many rookies can do their first game. If receivers could actually get open I have faith he'll find them eventually.
  6. Rapport takes time and I think that's what the offense's biggest issue is. They just need some time together to gel. Hell, Thielen was saying in an interview this offseason that him and Kirk were out of sync on a route they never ran against a particular coverage after 4 years together. They had to stop and discuss how to attack it, then practice it to make sure the timing was right. That is with a 10+year vet QB throwing him the ball and a guy he'd built rapport with over 4 years. Now multiply that by Bryce being a rookie and never throwing to any one of these receivers until 4 months ago. Also none of them are very great at the moment.
  7. I didn't want to retain Wilks personally but that is a completely fair argument to make.
  8. SB 50 broke me, I had kids, time is occupied by more important things. I think I enjoy the idea of the panthers more than the actual team itself these days.
  9. I've also had some poo happen to my family over the summer that puts a lot of things into perspective about what is and isn't worth getting upset about it life. The Panthers are like my lotto ticket. You don't pay for the lotto ticket expecting to win, you pay for the dream of how fun it would be to win. I don't follow the Panthers expecting them to win, I follow them for the dream that one of these moves they make will make them good enough to win.
  10. That's kind of where I'm at with fit right now. I don't hate the aggressive nature, it just feels like his instincts aren't all there. I don't know where rhule's ineptitude ends and fits begins, but someone mentioned looking at his moves thus far and looking at them from a distance, there really haven't been a ton of wins and quite a few losses. But it's only week 1 of his first year sans Rhule so I don't even know at the moment. I will say if we did move on from him I wouldn't be upset, and if we decide to keep him again next year, I also won't be upset.
  11. I wouldn't call it half full, I just don't take the first month of the NFL as gospel, let alone the first game. With the limited practices and off-season time teams have these days, things look completely different from week 1 to week 5. If we came out and stomped Atlanta my expectations would be tempered the other way. This is a completely new coaching staff with a new complicated offensive scheme, and receivers who aren't very good at getting separation. Ive been saying for months that if we look good, it won't be until the second half of the season so we played about up to my expectations today? I'm not sweating it though. Everyone else seems to have the unrealistic expectations/overreactions. I'm not worried about it until we look like complete poo into late October
  12. Remember when we were 3-0 with sole position of first in the division with Sam Darnold under center and Matt Rhule as our coach? It's such a shame that we can't be as good as that team was that whole season and that we are doomed to be this bad the rest of this season. It's a shame the first game of the season is how you look the other 16 games. Such a shame that rookies never get better as the year goes on. Just a damn shame
  13. Bones are there it's just going to take time. They didn't look incompetent, they just made mistakes and need some time to work some poo out together. I'm not freaking out until next month
  14. Tee is a legit #1 receiver though. That's why it was seen as a luxury pick to take Jamar Chase instead of Penei Sewell in the draft. Turns out Chase happens to be elite, but Higgins himself is still a #1 level receiver. I'd put him on the same level as DJ Moore If not better, because I think Higgins runs better routes. It'd be a boon for us to somehow get him.
  15. Higigns is legit and I hope we bust down his door handing him a contract next offseason if the bengals don't re-sign him.
  16. I remember when it was a big deal that Cam wasn't a captain right off the bat.
  17. Yeah, but he never beat anyone, murdered anyone, assaulted women, or was even arrested like some guys that were inducted like Ray Lewis, Lawrence Taylor, and Michael Irvin.
  18. There is definitely a way he doesn't get in first ballot, he "only" played 8 seasons. Patrick Willis who also "only" Played 8 seasons and has a very similar resume to Luke still isn't in the hall (and should be as well): Luke: 5x 1st team AP, 2x 2nd team AP 7x Pro Bowl HOF All 2010s Team 2012 Def RoY 2013 Def PoY Willis: 5x 1st team AP, 2x 2nd team AP 7x Pro Bowl HOF All 2010s Team 2007 Def ROY Luke has the DPoY which may help nudge him in quicker, but Willis stepped away in his prime just like Luke and he has been waiting a few years now. Willis also played for a bigger market team in SF so he had more media attention, and he still isn't in yet. Both should get in eventually but don't be surprised if he isn't in first ballot. The writers are ass clowns when it comes to voting these guys in based on arbitrary reasons - Case in point, TO was not in first ballot even though he's a top 3 receiver in damn near every major category, mainly because he was a dick to the media.
  19. I've said it before and I'll say it again, this entire situation is reminiscent of the Charles Johnson situation back in the day. We overpaid for CJ, but he still had a solid but not spectacular career through that contract. Hopefully Burns takes that next step once we pay him. He's a top 10ish Pass rusher in this league, and those top 10 guys tend to reset the market once their deals come up. In a year or two he will have a top 5 deal, and in another, he'll have a top 10 deal.
