It’s time to discuss DANimal Morgan as our GM
Basbear replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
You people keep making me defend the 2024 class. Look XL might as well be 2nd rounder, guys drafted in the 30s-50s do not have what the first round 1-10 have. There's a huge gap. *Most drafts have a tier system that varies. 1-8, 9-14, 15-30, 30-50. Each level there's a huge talent fall or more risk involid. SInce Im a interwebz grandpa, "Back in my day" WRs took 3 full seasons before you knew the ones that had the talent. XL still has time to figure it out and if he doesn't, toss on 20 LBs and give TE a try.....Ive seen him blocking the number off players recently... I still holding out he and BY and...Dave can ALL figure out how to break XL out of the slump. Im not going to defend Brooks, it was wrong. I heard they viewed him as a first rounder, still.......no more. Wallace is looking better each week after that terrible week one, he's looking more and more like a great pick now. Sanders- a little unlucky, but he's the #1 TE on the roster. He's just got to figure out the silly minor injuries bug. Great pick for a 4th if he does, CSW- Unlucky with minor injuries too, but he's the starting NB. Great pick for the 5th round too as he's a legit starter. Crumedy- part of a deep DL and facts are he is the 50s on roster ranks. Still for a 208, that's about what's normally happens. He's still on the team and next year could have a better role. UDFA- Coker and RIchardson. They also signed Tremayne form that year, he made the deeeeep WR group and plays a solid ST. Im a former draft nerd... If you draft 2 starters and a top backup, that's a good/great draft. *Thus far this 2024 class has netted 4 starters, one backup, and one prayer. If you include and should the UFDA its increases the impact. -
Yea, he needs to stay on bench, unless a injury hits. Corbett did beat out Mays and viewed as a better leader, but the injuries..... Tho....... You could talk me into him replacing BC cause BC is the best utility OLman. Still BC is playing great as RG, both him and Mays have earned the right to keep playing. Finally I don't think Corbett has ever played for RB that's had back2back 200 scrimmage yards. Maybe its time for Cobrett to be a top IOL backup for the last couple of years in his career.

Its soo crazy how they were able to grift norime NFL fans. Evero can go-to JC horn and tell him if he calls cover2, he needs to man2man the player in front of him. Then when PFF "grades" the play, -50 points Horn didn't play his zone in cover2 shell. Still if you have no idea on a player, PFF is about so good as a rando x/twatter self proclaimed NFL film watcher. Like if @TheSpecialJuan makes a comment about how well a player did, its the same as PFF "grades"....

Yea it was a prior issue with eddie and panther 50+ yarders. Both sides were right, for a time Eddie was the most accurate kicker in NFL history. But the distance issue and he was a Chris Tabor guy. I was a pro-Eddie defender and guess what.... I still didnt want to pay nothing much above min.....just a bad kicker market for kickers. I don't know alot about kickers, but I know this as a fact. Kickers are confidence based, the moment they loss it, you need to hold try-outs. Very similar to golfers, they need to believe and be able to recover from a bad swing. CSW said in a piece he'd trust Fitz with his life!!!! Others sounded off support too. Fitz has already showed me enough and the kickoff shenanigans have been a big bonus. He has given the Panthers field position, that's huge value form a kicker, saving points from being scored while being a scorer.

BC is playing great as a RG, but cobett can play either OG and C. BC can play all 5 spots and do it well, I lost a bet thinking some team would see he's valued. Glad BC is a panther and I hope he stays a few more years!! He's worth keeping around. Mays can and as been injuries before, that would leave some guy signed off ravens PS. Sure cobett hasn't stayed healthy long enough, but he's still NFL roster worthy even at this stage/age/injuries.

I was a huge Eddie supporter. Guess what after the top 4 or so Kickers, the 6-30 group is the same bag. I prefer the save cap space and not have some 14th ranked kicker making top 5 salary. Rightfully so, Eddie wanted $$$$$ and commit. Facts are there are too many NFL kickers out there, around 44 guys would be good enough if given the chance. So it's doesn't make sense to pay up when only 32 get to kick on game days. Fitz has the new KO stuff, it doesn't make a field position difference. starting from the 20 is totally different than 40-35. If you are on the 40, couple of 1st downs and their kicker FG range. Panthers made the right choice for once, Fitz is legit and cheap!

This type of game that bring you stans and us haters together!! He did play very well with no excuses. *For the stans- In bad weather with Backup on the right side, backup RB, missing #1 TE and missing Coker. Still played like a real NFL QB
-
He played this game very well, nothing wrong can be said. Weather was not the best either.
-
Eddie wanted $$$$$$$$, Fitz is cheap and under control for 3 years.

These two weeks are most impressed RB Ive ever seen form a panther RB. CMC, Stew, Dwill, Davis <<<<<<<<< Rico how on earth?? Dowdle is like a better prime foreman, better hands and better speed. But like foreman breaks tack like I break hearts..... -

He part of this growing class that is CHANGING the losing culture. His impact on KOs is huge too, he's under contract for 3 years too.
-
He made a bad mistake and apologized for it. Don't worry within a few weeks he will give us fans more rage bait and the cycle will continue...

I was a Skatt fan and bump the draft thread was before the 4th and I was pleading for him.

Nic Scourton- PFF Highest Rated Rookie (Week 5)
Basbear replied to ProcessBlue2's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think he's more than just that role. I view Dan and Brandt as CO-GMs. If you watch the blueprint(fyi there's a new one this Friday with focus on rookies), Brandt is doing lots of the calling to the other GMs and he's giving input on players during. You know he vouched for Wharton and nearly everyone signed was younger than 26 years of age. That was by his design in rebuilding this bad team, knowing it takes years... Right now, gun to my head and make me pick one- Brandt easy choice. If you listen to him talk NFL; he maybe known for numbers, but he knows talent and players. 100% hes got ideas on how to run a team and Panthers are implementing some of them. -
Nic Scourton- PFF Highest Rated Rookie (Week 5)
Basbear replied to ProcessBlue2's topic in Carolina Panthers
I thought he only had one year in, but it does look like he came with Dan in 2023. I know Brooks puts that group in a deep hole. Still the others are contributing. XL- had his best game and maybe that's enough for him to be a factor in future games Wallace- Switched to the green dot and playing better each passing week after a horrendous start. Sanders- he's the #1 TE and just when he getting going with recs and yards, he gets nick'd.( he's back this week) CSW- Much like sanders, getting going and then a minor injury hits. He's still the starting NB and not a weak point Crumedy- Part of a legit rotation and has gotten snaps without issues Are we counting UDFAs??- Coker is back, Richardson is a main STer and still waiting for a turn at S, Tremayne is a ST guy and the top backup for WRs. they should get credit for finding him and hitting on the others listed. Far from dogshit and yes it could be much better given the top two picks. Still 4, yes 4 starters, 1 backup and a prayer. Add in the UDFAs, its not the worst class. I will say this rating does change too much after 4 weeks are played. XL can get better and its not too much asking for him to be a #2 type of impact on this team that doesn't pass much. Brooks can shock the world and replace RIco next year, no team knows better about 2x ACL tears to same the knee. (I give him 50/50 never taking another snap). Still he has legit game breaker talent, 50% he could take chubbas top spot as well. Whatever you get is just a bonus. For this group, lets see at seasons end and who remains for the starting 2026. I feel thats fair and not his constant judging each week too many lows and highs.... They are young men trying to figure out the NFL meat grinder. * Brandt/Dan also got a future 2nd in that draft. Plus they kept a 2nd in the draft as well. That lead to getting Nic Scortheearth. If Nic fails, its still a great value at adding a future 2nd....when they didn't have one from the bear trade(thanks tepper/Scott).
