No they both have weaker NFL arms. I’d say Tua and Burrow have below average NFL starting QB arms. Burrow did a lot of work after his rookie year to develop more velocity in his throws and it’s still on the weaker side. I’ve posted articles on how his playing style and accuracy has helped offset his weaker NFL arm.
-
Chark’s best seasons featured Foles and Minshew throwing him passes. Again showing arm strength isn’t needed for deep threats. Tua and Hill have created great chemistry and timing together.
-
Vertical threats don’t really matter with arm strength. Tua and Burrow have weaker arms but Hill and Chase can track down deep balls they air out.

I need to hear it from Ryan Leaf…

4th or later sounds right. I’d be ok if we traded back in the 3rd for him. He is long and fast. Route running can be polished up, his speed, size, and natural ability can’t.
-
He looked great and UNC most of the year though. He really opened up their offense when he was activated.
-
He has speed and good hands. 4th round or later and I’m good. 3rd maybe if we trade down.

Stroud was my top choice and if I remember correctly he was the most popular on the polls here. I thought he had highest floor due being the best pure passer. Young did seem like the QB teams would regret passing up due to his “magic” and clutch gene, plus most analysts had him as QB1. AR was the 3rd option with the crazy high ceiling but highest chance of busting. I’m definitely intrigued to see what Bryce can do if we actually put some protection, weapons, and solid coaching around him. I’m not writing him off yet and I’m also not overly attached to him or anyone on this roster.

Exactly. People on here trying to rewrite history to make us look bad. We can make ourselves look bad without all that nonsense! Here is the May 2022 way to early mock with Young leading the way… https://www.pff.com/news/draft-way-too-early-2023-nfl-mock-draft-alabamas-bryce-young-houston-texans-no-1-overall
-
Bryce was QB1 on a load of boards before the S2 info. I mean we can pull up mocks and draft boards before that test was released. It doesn’t mean he was the right choice but there is no need try to create a narrative that isn’t accurate. We gave into the hype like many experts did. What confuses people here is that the Huddle as a group always leaned Stroud but the media leaned Young all the way back to the year before the draft honestly.

You are missing the point. The Niners traded for him and immediately started him. That means whoever was their prior was viewed as not as good by Wilks the DC. So that’s called an upgrade or at least Wilks viewed him as an upgrade. I believe Young had 2 sacks in the big game when they were only bringing 4 rushers as well.
-
If you want to make that argument fine, but they traded for him and he immediately became the starter and got a ton of minutes with Wilks running the defense. DeMeco didn't have him last year when they were #1.
-
Lol I forgot a KEY word in there. I would NOT be happy with Quinn as HC. Kyle carried him in ATL.
-
I’m not a fan of Quinn. Did he inherit that defense or create it though? Seriously if Quinn was our HC I would be happy about it. Wilks was in college as DC for Missouri it was similar. In his lone season in charge of the defense, the Tigers struggled greatly in Wilks’ 4-2-5 defensive system, particularly against the run. Of Missouri’s 13 opponents, seven of them rushed for over 200 yards. In-state opponent Southeast Missouri State even racked up 294 yards on the ground.
-
Taking a top defense and adding a premier player like Chase Young midseason and having them drop to 3 isn't that great of a task. I get replacing DeMeco might be impossible, but lets not act like Wilks crushed it as DC in SF... In Wilks' lone season with the Niners, the defense had its share of ups and downs. A unit that led the NFL in multiple categories in 2022 under DeMeco Ryans -- including fewest points per game allowed (16.3) and defensive expected points added (89.58) -- took a step back in 2023. San Francisco still finished third in points allowed (17.5) this season, but the 49ers were ninth in defensive EPA (41.48) and sprung significant leaks against the run in the playoffs, allowing the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs to average 5.1 yards per carry and 149.3 yards per game in the postseason.

I mean WIlks put Young in as a starter after they traded a 3rd round pick to rent him for half a year. He got plenty of playing time on that roster. Ryans didn't have him last year and the defense played better. He brought Carolina to "above average" but made Arizona go dead last? Hmm it's not adding up. Wilks is a great person, a decent DC, and just not that good of a HC.
-
They kind of clash IMO. Wilks seems like an old school more conservative defensive coach while Kyle is analytical new school offensive coach. If Kyle is looking for the next DeMeco Ryans he may never find it.
-
Now do the Cardinals when he was HC and Missouri when he was DC or do these not count? Also the Niners had a drop off in defense despite adding Chase Young midseason and then he was fired after one season….
-
Meanwhile PJ gives Dallas a 3 point PJ special.
-
He wants to play here too
-
People are also underrating the Chiefs defense in the playoffs. They were arguably the strength of the team and kept them in the game when the offense was struggling.
-
Romo claimed he may have needed to rest his defense and let them regroup. Regardless it was a questionable call....
-
He is available again. We going to sign him?
