If Smith takes Mingo under his wings... Look out!
-
We have no idea how good some of these teams are going to be plus we are installing a new offense and defense. I expect us to be competitive and would be thrilled with a winning record but there may be some learning curves this year.
-
You can not allow a sack but still allow pressures or commit penalties while pass protecting. People (or the single person/troll) claiming he will cost us a quarter of our schedule in losses because his pass protection is so bad are clearly full of poo. He is a capable pass protector who was raw as a rookie but has already shown great improvement. As the article stated it appears we have our franchise LT.
-
Agreed. He was raw as a pass protector, but clearly progressed well under Campen. We definitely drafted the right LT last year.

Was he playing CB? You are going into full negative mode because we didn’t draft your guy. Get over it.
-
Oh poo I missed that. Yeah they could definitely be a problem if Ridder shows anything.
-
If he struggled and any of the other rookies look good this place will be a mad house. The thing is, most rookies struggle…
-
Atlanta has some great skill players, but how are they in the trenches? The OL and run defense was pretty bad last year. They do have the 2nd best coaching staff IMO outside of us.
-
As long as he puts in the time like Mahomes he should be great. I know Young will put in the time. You are right though he would get drafted over Young due to size and arm strength.
-
I don’t understand why people think our roster is worse than Tampa and Atlanta’s outside if the QB? We split with these teams last year with terrible QB play and half of a coaching staff. I think we definitely got better as well. Brown, Burns, Horn, Chinn, and Shaq are as good of pieces as any defense in the division. Our OL is probably the best, Sanders is probably better than Tampa or NO’s RBs (with Kamara suspended), our WRs are pretty unproven outside of Thielen/Chark so we are probably last there but Hurst is mid-tier for TE (below ATL obviously).

Caleb Williams is great and probably goes above Young in this draft if he was eligible. Lincoln Riley does make a lot of QBs look better than they do in the Pros with Baker and Kyler. Personally I like Bryce’s demeanor a lot. I couldn’t imagine him putting “fug UGA” on his knuckles and then losing to them. To me Caleb wants to have more fun playing the game similar to Cam while Young just wants to win and execute similar to a Manning/Brees. Both ways can be affective though.

True. Plus Wilks was coaching for a job. There is no way he was going to tank after the crap that happened to him in ARZ.
-
I don’t think anyone is expecting Burrow. If he catches on quickly the hope is we make the playoffs in a weak NFC. Nothing too crazy IMO.
-
Yeah we didn’t draft the player you preferred. We drafted the played that 90% of scouts and analysts had as the top QB in the draft. We drafted the QB that the Texans actually wanted over Stroud. You keep looking for some elite physical trait. Physically Young is capable of playing QB in the NFL, but you want find anything elite just like Brady, Burrow, Manning, Brees, and Wilson. These QBs excel at playing the position with poise, accuracy, and elite processing. So you keep hoping for a Jeff George arm while most of us are wanting a Manning brain.
-
Makes sense. He was considered a bit of a system QB with a strong arm for Texas Tech that would make some head scratching throws. Hell he still makes those throws but they are some how completions.
-
Agreed. Between Thielen, Chark, Hurst, and TMJ/Mingo someone will have a mismatch and Young is the type of QB to find it and exploit it. Sanders has good hands as well for a RB. There isn’t 1 true elite weapon, but several solid ones which might make it harder for the defense to predict the offense honestly.
-
If he genuinely had nothing to do with it, then I truly hate it for him. What a terrible, disgusting thing to be associated with and it possibly ruined his career.
-
I think Young and Theilen are going to get some chemistry early. He will be a nice vet for Young to lean on early.

Several big upgrades available and we are just staying put…

I don’t know why this made me laugh so much

Solid depth for the interior and can play LT if needed. I’m more than ok with this.
