I’m ok with it. Like people are saying it pretty much had to be someone on our staff. Nixon also has plenty of NFL coaching experience (more that Rhule). Let’s see how they come out after the bye week. Hopefully he pushes for BC to start at LT.

Is that the year Stafford won a playoff game?
-
He has more NFL experience than I thought.

Howell has the tools to be great too. You are correct though, we need a QB first IMO. It’s how the Cards did it with Murray, Bengals with Burrow, and Chargers with Herbert. Ignoring the QB position again and building a solid team with a random vet throwing the ball will keep us out of range from getting a top one the following year unless we give up a lot of assets like the Niners did… You pretty much have to draft your signal caller in this league.

Dane Brugler Mock Draft 1.0 (from The Athletic)

Huh? The only thing they have in common is the college they played for. That’s like saying Joe Burrow = Jamarcus Russell. -
I mean that happens anyway. It will be a penalty with a possible ejection if they do. They just need to change the rules, but it’s going to be hard to tell if they are stumbling or not…

Lol right?

NFL Salary Cap Expected to go to 208 million next year
ForJimmy replied to joemac's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yes! The only CB we should be interested in extending is Gilmore and that’s if the contract is reasonable. We have Horn, Henderson, Bouye, and Taylor who look solid going into next year. We need an average MLB and OL, OL, and OL! -
And Horn over Slayton, but we could play this game all day….

That fake slide is a slippery slope. Although Patrick Mahomes incorporated the fake going out of bounds and grabbing a few extra yards move he does. -
Big Ben hasn’t been good for a minute and is very injury prone these past 5 years or so. Tomlin has never had a losing season. 14 straight years with no losing seasons (tied a record). I would gladly welcome that here. He got handed a team by Cowher, but 14 years of success shows he is the real deal.

I wasn’t high on Mac, but the man is playing in the system by the team that drafted him and doing it very well while winning. That’s pretty much the name of the game. If he is that good in any system then you draft him and implement the system around him. Kyle Shanahan was very high on him and was torn about taking him at 3 and Kyle is one of the better offensive minded coaches in the league. If we drafted Mac would he have been that great this year? Doubt it, but we would overhaul the line and pickup a coach that implements that system as either a OC or Rhule replacement.

Saints have a coach (that hurt to type) and offensive line. All they need is a QB. We need a coach, QB, and line…
-
What about Tomlin?

Fields needed to sit for a moment like Mahomes, Mac was the most Pro Ready day 1. Although I wonder how Mac would have faired on the Beard with Naggy. Slater was definitely the best option. Day 1 starter at LT.

Some big boards --300+ players on each ranked

It’s hard to tell considering WHO he was playing. I look forward to seeing him against elite QBs and WRs. I think he will be great, but a top 10 pick on CB isn’t really a franchise changer. Like the Lions recently, Broncos last year, Jags with Ramsey, and Cards with Peterson have shown us. OL or QB should have been the pick with several options available. Slater would have been the safest, followed by Mac, with Fields having the most potential IMO.

I thought the same at first. He is actually a lot quicker and more elusive than I originally thought. He works the pocket and isn’t afraid to run with it every now and then. He isn’t going to run the QB option, but has a little if that Rodgers escapability in my opinion… -

Rhule’s seat is hot and Tepper wants to energize the fans. That screams QB in the draft IMO.
