Don’t let Darnold keep you from the Fields train!

I guess that’s our main difference of opinion. I think when you are drafting in the top 10 and don’t have a franchise QB, you should always be at least considering getting your franchise QB. In a perfect world we would get better and never draft this high again. Our staff should believe this if they believe in themselves.

Say what you want about Fields, but he definitely makes a topic hot around here!

Nah we got Darnold!

It’s all about how they value the player. If our staff thinks Mac Jones will be significantly better than Darnold and our new franchise QB, then they would be stupid not to take him if he is there at 8. I happen to be high on Fields so I’m for taking him if he is there.

Brown was a game changer at Auburn. He has a great pass rush and we started to see that at the end of his rookie year. He was a solid pick in my opinion.

Brown is also very important to this team. Our run defense was so awful before he was drafted all teams needed to do was hand it off, control the clock and score with no issues. This was with Luke still playing. Players like Brown are similar to offensive linemen, they get under appreciated, but defenses fall apart without them. Luke was at his best when we had Star clogging the lane.

Depends if our staff sees him as a NFL LT or G. He only played LT this past year and it’s was an unusual year, especially in the Big 10...

Yeah and if one like Sewell falls to us, we should. We just don’t need to draft one in the first just for the sake of doing it though. If the value is there, I’m for it.

I’m not the biggest fan of Horn at 8. I feel we could trade down and get a CB like Surtain, Newsome, or Samuel with not much of a drop off...

Left tackle might be the second most important position.

Haha fair, but I haven’t seen anyone say they would be upset with it. At least not yet...

So if Lawrence slips and falls to us you would stick with Darnold? I know there is no chance in hell of that happening, but I’m just curious. If Watson is miraculously cleared and we can have him for our first, would you do it? I getting wanting to fix our line. If we get Sewell I will be thrilled (even if Fields is still there). That’s just such a pivotal position and if our staff thinks a better option is available they didn’t think would be, they shouldn’t take it?

If you think owners in any organization aren’t going to have some sort of input, you are sadly mistaken. He is very much invested in this team and has made it painfully clear (to the tune of trying to Watson, Stafford, maybe Russ, and Darnold) he wants the QB position addressed. I’m sure he has spoken with Rhule and Fitts on draft scenarios in which they gave their input. Maybe Fields or Lance were players he was high on until speaking with them. We don’t know and probably won’t know.

Wow fair enough. I definitely didn’t keep up with him in college.

I just read ATL is trading with the Niners to get Pick 3 and select Pitts.

Sewell might be the one pick that everyone will be happy with if he makes it to 8.

She was wrong about something? GTFO. She is just telling everyone what she is hearing. Take it however you want. I just want her to be right about Mac to SF so a better player drops to us.

Do I feel lucky?

There was a good series on ESPN with Horn, Pitts, Fields, and Parsons. They all fed off each other and seem to have great competitive personalities that will serve them well in the NFL. Horn can be a little “handsy” but honestly all the elite CBs are to a degree. Jalen Ramsey was talking with him, giving him advice and of course having a NFL dad helps (despite which team he played for) just ask CMC!

Great post! The people making the picks know a lot more about the team/players than any of us do. However it turns out our team should be in the rise! At the end of the day we all want what we think is best for this franchise.
