PFF grades after week 3 (not for the faint of heart)
ForJimmy replied to Cdparr7's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah they were able to move on from them because they aren’t starters in the NFL. WTF are you even doing labeling a couple busts? There are plenty of examples of it working as well. You really think we traded all that capital to move up and draft a QB at 1 to roll with Dalton all year? -

That doesn’t bother me either. He will be linked to them. I was all about Stroud before the draft and he looks legit. I get it’s frustrating. I’m just trying to comb through nonsense to find legit football info. I think you have a group of negative posters (which is fine they are free to have their opinions) but they freak out and overreact whenever the team struggles. Some seem to thrive on it. Maybe it is a form of coping who knows? -

THE NATIONAL MEDIA??? Oh poo it must be true then. Who care what our staff is saying about our doctors the national media can never lie. My bad man. -

Are you wanting me to quote all of them? Just type “bust” in the search bar and you will see a couple posts mocking those users then a bunch of users saying it. It’s been all over here. People are talking about getting a first next year to draft his replacement. -

Oh I wasn’t calling you out specifically. Just in general on this forum. You are usual fair and logical. -

Critical is fair and fine. Overreacting calling him a bust and making up a theory for a “soft” benching is extreme. So is bumping every Stroud thread. -

Agreed, but the WRs haven’t got many chances to make those Tank Dell plays. They had some nice catches with Dalton airing it out. We need to draw up some plays where Young gives the WR a chance on some deep routes and the Vikings would be a good start. -

If he can’t get past that he won’t ever become our franchise QB. Better find out now vs later. Winning a couple extra games with Dalton while leaving Young as a question mark does us no good. We are better off losing their extra games and seeing if Young can develop. -

There is a happy medium where every thread isn’t a Stroud predraft thread or already writing off our top pick after 2 games or conspiracy theories about benching him. Most people know he needs work but can also agree it’s a very small sample size. -

Zavala is affecting his surrounding OL. Might want to put him back on the RG side where he played decent. -
Caleb is saying he might stay another year depending on who is at 1. Rattler would be a terrible move. The point is at some point you have to try to get your QB. Maybe Young was the right guy maybe he wasn't, but the alternative was to keep signing Darnolds, Bakers, and Teddys while winning enough games to not get a top pick to use on a QB. Roll with Young these next two years and if he implodes we will have a top pick to try again in 2025. Were you not saying Young will be a good pick as well? I know you preferred Stroud.

The fans don't want to see Dalton. The best thing for Young is to get experience. If he is healthy he needs to play against a bad defense at home. That's what the season is about. -

What does a Dalton win get us? This year is about developing Young and a weak defense is a good game to start doing that. Let Brown get the running game corrected and let Young get some confidence if he is healthy. -

Continuing to throw picks to the tune of 4 in one game isn't good. You have to protect the ball also if you are wanting to win games. I like his attitude, but people can't hype that into a good thing. -

I'm just looking at the stats you posted. Stats without perspective don't tell the whole story. I think Howell will be fine, but just glancing at these stats it doesn't look that way. -
I think you can get a older vet from there like Z Smith for a decent price and a mid-level one while seeing if Barno, Haynes, or YGM can develop. 1st round goes to an offensive weapon. Late round add more OL depth. A FA LB or 2 is what we need also. We should have a decent amount of cap space (especially if we don't extend Burns).

Interesting to se Mahomes and Hurts in the top 10, but I guess if you have time with the better OLs then you can take longer to throw it. Your boy Howell is challenging Jimmy G for the INT leader in the NFL. -
Barno, Johnson, Houston, YGM for the rest of the year plus Haynes when he returns. If YGM keeps looking better he might be a cheap extension for depth. Then yeah you look at an older vet pass rushers to hold down the spot or draft one in rounds 2-3. $30 million allocated to Burns would make it too hard to fill all of our holes and depth needed. If we can flip Burns we should have a lot of cap space to sign some decent FAs plus you get the first back plus a depth player and better pick in the draft.
-
The Bengals can't afford him plus Burrow's health is questionable right now. They might not be in the playoff race if Burrow can't get healthy (you know since he tried playing through a calf injury). If we keep losing we need to be in sell mode with Burns being top of the list as he can get the best return and would cost the most money to extend. Not accepting the Rams deal sucks, but it can't be undone.
-
Yeah a first (it will be a late first because only a contender would trade) middle pick (or swap later for early) and a depth player (who honestly would get playing time if you make it an Edge or LB or CB). That should be the minimum IMO, but hopefully something better. Getting back that 1st would be huge plus whatever else we can squeeze. We have to build around Bryce for the time being.
-
It doesn't matter. That's a sunk cost at this point and making another mistake to make up for an old one is twice as bad. Our team is in no position to offer any player $30 million a year. We have holes and need depth.

Vikings have a terrible defense and it's at home. We need Bryce to play this game and get some confidence. Hopefully he is healthy enough to play. -
Definitely see what you can get. A first plus some is what we should be seeking. If we can't get that wait until this offseason and try a tag and trade. Something similar to the Bradley Chubb deal who was also on the final year of his contract and was traded to Miami for a 1st, 4th, and RB in exchange for Chubb and a 5th. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/34925836/sources-dolphins-trade-broncos-lb-bradley-chubb Brown is the one we need to extend. He should be cheaper and is a tough position to replace. I also think he is more important to our defense.
