Not a Rodgers fan, but you can’t hold it against him that he can consistently put up MVP numbers…
-
2 QBs played well behind shitty lines in college this past year. Howell and Willis. Howell will probably be ready to start sooner with a higher floor, and Willis has the highest ceiling of any QB in the draft. Dream scenario would be trade down and draft one of these two…
-
I wouldn’t hate it. It would give me something to be excited about as a fan. Plus I want to say “Watch you talkin’ about Willis?” during his interviews.
-
Yeah I don’t get why this is so hard for people to grasp. Draft a QB and use the rookie deal cap space to build around him. Once his contract is due he should be good enough to somewhat carry a team. If your drafted QB busts, you start over and try it again.
-
When did they hire their new coach and what was their record when they got him? I mean we have been “rebuilding” for the past 6 years otherwise… It’s more like a 3 year process for their Super Bowl, tore it down in 2019 and were terrible, drafted Burrow and turned it around very quickly.
-
Right out if range from drafting one of the top QBs next year. Might as well extend Darnold another year…

What is Rhule going to give up for Jimmy G?

What is Joe Burrow’s superior trait to Kenny Pickett?
ForJimmy replied to FuFuLamePoo's topic in 2015 NFL Draft
I agree with everything you posted and Burrow is obviously the better prospect. The counter argument to the Burrow vs Pickett is Burrow had a NFL supporting cast from RB to WR3 and Pickett was working with 3/4 star recruits at Pitt. They both had a surprise year and are known as film room junkies. Again I don’t think Pickett is in Burrow’s league, but it would be interesting to see what he would have done on that LSU roster. -
Stupid franchise QBs. Who needs them…
-
Well I hope our scouts do their research on Glass. He looks like he has a lot of potential.
-
Got it. Yeah I don’t see many HBCU QBs that have been drafted lately…
-
Yeah, but Lance was a small school guy and went 3rd overall? I only watched a few highlight clips, but his stats look pretty solid too.
-
He looks pretty legit. Why haven’t I heard of him before??

It also falls on the coaching/schemes and what they do with the players they have. I seen several defenders/players leave NE on good contracts and underperform on different teams. Several players have done this and come back to NE to play well again. Collins (LB) comes to mind. Coaches have to put players in position to succeed. You take someone like DJ Moore and let Kyle Shanahan or Andy Reid coach/scheme him and he would be in the Pro Bowl. Matt Ryan won MVP with Shanahan and went back to being average/maybe slightly above average right after he left.

Burrow’s hands are actually pretty small too. He had the smallest hands of a first round QB since 08. He was 9” and Pickett’s are coming in at 8.25.” Honestly I wouldn’t use Burrow’s athletic ability or measurements to project a QB. Burrow’s cut from a different cloth with his mental toughness and football IQ. He is the most Brady-like of any QB I’ve seen yet. -
That’s one of the reasons I think he is the best fit for us. He can perform with bad OL play. I don’t think Strong (mobility) or possibly Picket (always seemed to have a good pocket) can. Willis also had a terrible OL, but he really needs to sit a year like Lance and Rhule doesn’t have a year to wait. I think Corral gets hurt trying to make a play behind our line. He is tough, but has a small frame. Corral and Willis really need a coach that knows what he is doing ( something we don’t have).

Well said.

His technique was considered a strength by draft analysts before Rhule drafted him. https://www.profootballnetwork.com/brady-christensen-nfl-draft-player-profile-byu-offensive-tackle/ https://www.si.com/nfl/seahawks/.amp/gm-report/seahawks-2021-nfl-draft-profile-brady-christensen https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2931245-brady-christensen-nfl-draft-2021-scouting-report-for-carolina-panthers-ot.amp.html The phrases you will keep seeing under strength are “fundamentally sound” “High Football IQ” in which they brag on his techniques. His weaknesses were athleticism and competition at BYU. These guys do this for a living, but you played ball back in 1952 for some small town High School so you know better right? So yeah moving him all over the place and being a terrible developer of talent probably overwhelmed the guy where he forfeits his basic skills and tries to overcompensate. It’s like when a QB gets pressure and throws off his back foot. Does he know better? Sure, but the moment can become overwhelming and they get desperate trying to make a play (or stop a sack). No matter how you look at it, it still falls back on Rhule. He scouted, evaluated, drafted, coached and developed BC.
-
If you think shuffling a 3rd round rookie around the line doesn’t hurt development I honestly don’t know what else to say. The poster I was responding too was questioning if the OP thought BC was not a good pick because we didn’t evaluate him well. I was explaining he was probably more upset with how Rhule handled BC not how they evaluated him. However you want to look at it, it still falls on Rhule who drafted him. Did he draft a player with bad technique or did he do a terrible job at coaching/developing that player. Looking at the regressions from Brown and Chinn, I would lean towards the coaching/development.
-
Honestly he checks a lot of boxes. It’s been a small sample size so far, but if he lights it up next year he should definitely be in the mix with Young/Stroud.
-
Picket must be you guy this year then. He killed it in yardage/TDs!
-
I’m assuming it was the fact we didn’t give him a chance almost all season while shuffling him around the line and starting terrible vets over him. Brady could be a nice pick considering where we drafted him.
-
I hope Pride doesn’t get cut. He has some starting experience and is still pretty young. I know he was rocky as a rookie, but he was rushed into starting IMO. He has to be pretty cheap too.
