It would take someone like Denver falling for one of the QBs like Corral. They could swap firsts and throw in their 2nd. We grab the Iowa center at 11 followed by Strong/Howel with their second. If we land a G like Schreff in FA we could be rolling out with BC, Schreff, Iowa C, ??, and Moton on the line with Strong or Howell in waiting. We could honestly draft a G in the 4th to compete with Brown/Erving for that final spot.

Mike Florio: Could Jim Harbaugh be an option
ForJimmy replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wanted him when Rivera was let go. He inherited a mess from Singletary’s Niners and flipped them into Super Bowl contenders. That Niners team hadn’t been to the playoffs since 2002, in 2011 (his first year) they lost the NFC championship in OT to the Giants. He had them in the Super Bowl the following year. He didn’t get along with the owners and was forced out. His last year he went 8-8 knowing he was going to be leaving. I’ll take it up a notch and say Jim Harbough with a top LT drafted and Mariotta playing QB (similar skillset to Kap) would make for a promising year. Then we can grab KJ Jefferson the next year in the draft and I’ll be thrilled. -
Matt Rhule responds to scathing report of volatile culture
ForJimmy replied to ladypanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah he should have took the Oklahoma job when they were inquiring. NFL just isn’t his cup of tea. I’m honestly not sure he can keep an already solid college program going… -
If Matt Rhule is the coach next season, I will…

Strong might be the best pure pocket passer. The only problem is we can’t provide him a pocket…
-
He is not my top pick, but the man definitely has a good arm. He can fling it down the field in a second. The main issue with him is he is still pretty raw. Rhule would ruin his development. If he goes to an offensive minded coach like Sean Peyton we could be screwed…

If we drafted Fields we would be using our draft to rebuild this OL while having a talented young QB to pair with an improved OL. We would just need a coach to be set. Seems like he is having a similar year as Lawrence, Wilson, any rookie not named Mac.
-
If Rhule is still our coach, I hope he isn’t allowed to give away any future draft capital. If he is here we will likely be picking in the top 10 next year. He already screwed this draft up with Darnold. We should be grabbing a top OL at 5/6 and then possibly a QB (Strong/Howell) in the second. Then more OL in the 3rd and so on…

2020 Offensive Line vs. 2021 Offensive Line
ForJimmy replied to thennek's topic in Carolina Panthers
It’s all about Rhule trying to “win now” with the “rebuild” excuse still in his pocket. -
Oh good Daley is back…,
-
Pickett seems to be a good decision maker. He does the things well that are hard to coach. This draft does have more OL talent it just depends on if we trade down and how we value these QBs. A good QB takes priority over a good OL in the draft for most teams. If we could trade down and snag a top OL and a Strong/Howell in the 2nd.
-
Ok so if Rhule gets fired you are all for QB then?
-
The future of our franchise??? Who are you drafting any player for? Should we just not draft anyone because Rhule might be a lame duck coach??
-
A case for QB https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/joe-burrow-1.html A case for OL https://amp.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nfl/carolina-panthers/article256880992.html This is why we go round in circles. Both are valid arguments.
-
Baker played great through college. https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/joe-burrow-1.html There is Burrow with elite NFL WRs, a NFL OL, and a NFL RB.
-
A 4th/5th round guard is an immediate upgrade over our current guards. There is another thread going on how Miller, Scott, and Daley are looking worse this year than ever. If Rhule is still here whatever rookie OL we pick might struggle due to coaching. If we get a new coach our line Also if we draft OL and roll with Sam our team won’t look much different because he has struggled with time in the pocket…

https://www.profootballnetwork.com/cam-mellors-2022-nfl-mock-draft-broncos-trade-up-for-matt-corral/ This would be ideal assuming we gave a new coach. Gives us at shot at Howell or Strong at 42 plus a plug and play LT.

Ideally we wouldn’t have this line with this staff. But yeah Burrow got IRed behind his terrible line his rookie year, so I see your point.

2020 Offensive Line vs. 2021 Offensive Line
ForJimmy replied to thennek's topic in Carolina Panthers
It’s coaching. Miller, Scott, and Daley (at G) have looked decent in the past. Also looks like BC might be benched for Erving while MJ and Miller will be starting… https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/.amp/gm-report/carolina-panthers-release-depth-chart-vs-saints-12-29 The only think left interesting in this team was if BC can progress into a decent LT, but we might not even know this year… -
Trade down, best QB available and the rest Oline..
ForJimmy replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
If Rhule is making the call/still here, I want us to just draft a blue chip OL and move on. If it’s a new staff then I’d be interested to see what they do with the QB position.
