  1. Scott, Christensen, and Brown will all be fun to watch. Looks like Marshall and Tremble will be starting too!
  2. Agreed, Lance is very raw. Maybe I’m stuck with the image of older Brees in my head, but Burrow looks bigger/faster to me…
  3. Legs are awful for Jones, I agree. They are like Manning/Brady bad. I think Mac’s arm is better than people are giving him credit for. I would say it’s adequate enough to play in the league. Better than Teddy’s (not saying much). To me Brees had to always air it out to get it down field, he just practiced so hard he had the timing near perfect. I could see Jones doing this (especially if he keeps learning under McDaniels).
  4. If he has a good line and is as smart as they say, he could become a Brees-lite with the right OC.
  5. Smith was good with Harbaugh. https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/8416/alex-smith A 90.7 and 104.1 rating his last two years (only years he had Harbaugh). I wouldn’t call that a “bust”. Colin K was just the younger option who Harbaugh also had playing well. The Chiefs weren’t really trying to reclaim his career. Vick definitely got better with the Eagles, but again I don’t know of many people who would call him a “bust” with the Falcons from a skill standpoint. You basically just named two QBs who played better with Andy Reid which is expected since he is one of the best offensively minded coaches in the league…
  6. Alex Smith was a lot better with Harbaugh (same team that drafted him). Second highest rating was last year in SF 2012 104.1 vs 104.7 in 2017. I wouldn’t call that “significant” but I suppose everyone is a critic. I wouldn’t call Vick a bust or reclamation project. He dominated when he was healthy then got in legal trouble. Winston is just a complete guess who isn’t even named the starter yet…
  7. https://www.google.com/amp/s/inews.co.uk/sport/nfl-draft-2021-first-round-quarterbacks-how-likely-succeed-stats-972664/amp He is giving 1st QBs a 45% bust rate (since 2000). 55% become capable starters. Compare that to Tannehill vs every other bust trade/signing since 2000 and you get a much lower number. It’s something pretty obvious that shouldn’t have to be researched. QBs busting and becoming solid starters on other teams are pretty rare. Tannehill is pretty much the only recent situation that has happened (good news and Darnold and he share the same staff when they were struggling) Hopefully it will happen with Darnold since he is so young and the Jets were a complete shitshow.
  8. Yeah I’m not going to give references on a message board on every post. Most of what I’m posting is my personal opinion based on what I’ve seen as a fan. If I’m directly quoting or referring to something else I’ll post a link. I really don’t have an issue with Darnold (preferred Fields), but he is definitely not untouchable like they want him to be. If he looks great I’ll be excited, if he looks bad I’m going to call it like I see it.
  9. Are you serious? You can literally name plenty of 1st round QBs that have succeeded. Manning (both of them), Big Ben, Rivers, Stafford, Cam, Mayfield, Mahomes, Watson, Jackson, McNabb, Vick, Ryan, Luck, Josh Allen, Murray, and both Herbert and Burrow look decent and I want even go back before Peyton. The ONLY reclamation project that seemed to legitimately work is Tannehill and maybe Gannon, but that could be considered a reach. Sorry I didn’t respond earlier I honestly thought he was joking.
  10. Stafford isn’t playing with his new team in preseason game 1. Who does McVay think he is?!?!
  11. What else are we going to talk about? It’s preseason game 1…
  12. I remember us sending people to Fields’ second day, but thought we skipped Lance’s. Yeah maybe we knew it wasn’t going to be Mac at 3…
  13. Lol umm yeah I MAY have over exaggerated, but it did flick down the field pretty effortlessly. The RAC made it 80….
  14. I found it odd we were never that interested. Didn’t even attend his 2nd Pro Day. I guess it just goes to show how confident we are in Darnold…
  15. 80 yard bomb! Man has a cannon for an arm…
  16. Yep the 3rd year has been his sweet spot. The players seem to be buying in to the culture. Some progression this year would definitely go a long way. Fair point about college vs NFL.
  17. What about pigskins after being launched from Sammy D’s throwing arm?
  18. We aren’t winning the Super Bowl this year so let’s keep working on developing our team with our coach who is known for turning teams around in a short period of time.
  19. I don’t think there really is one. It’s all the staff’s preference and not too relevant until game 3 when they are getting in sync fir the regular season. We still don’t even know who our starters are on the offensive line yet…. I think us fans are just trying to find something to discuss this early in preseason.
  20. Ryan Day’s system is pretty different and relatively new. Clemson’s talent is way above the rest of the ACC’s and comes in higher than OSU more times than not. By your logic Watson should have busted and Lawrence will bust. These players are some of the top recruits coming out of high school, of course they are going to pick loaded teams. They are putting up dominant numbers with dominant talent like they are suppose to do.
  21. Yeah and it’s not even like Rhule was playing the odds or playing it safe. Statistically speaking there is a higher chance of a first round QB succeeding than a reclamation project being successful…
  22. I’m not saying he isn’t a good prospect. He had a short memory from bad mistakes in college. Seems to be a very smart man with all the tools and I wanted us to draft him. I’m just saying that preseason game one against backups isn’t really going to tell you much. A lot of teams run simple defensive/offensive schemes the whole game just to get players basic experience. It’s also why I’m not entirely worried about us not playing Darnold in game one.
