Tom Brady taking what should have been Greg Olsen's spot

Exactly right. Some of the best announcers of any sport never played, or were average at best. -
Could Jimmy G still be on the table?
Stuart Smith replied to FuFuLamePoo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Whether or not he starts any games this year we need to give Corral some playing time. Even if Darnold gets the majority of the snaps we need to see if we feel comfortable moving forward with plans for Corral as a future starting quarterback. We do not need to repeat the Christensen experiment with Corral. Bringing Jimmy G. On board will complicate that. Besides, we still may need cap space to sign a couple of players on defense. -
Clowney interest in playing close to home
Stuart Smith replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
The factor here may be Baker Mayfield. I know no one wants to hear this, but are we truly satisfied with the quarterbacks we have? If Cleveland offered to trade Mayfield for a 4th round draft pick and agreed to pay 10 million of his contract would Fitterer do it? Until a hard decision is made here it might complicate the Panthers pursuing Clowney. I am not advocating for Mayfield, just a random thought. -
I think in the past Rhule might have made the decision without deferring to advice.

I know the past few years have been frustrating for Panther fans. It has been a long time since 2015 when many of us watched the Panthers destroy the Cardinals to win the NFC. I get that. As fans There have been many issues we have all found fault with, and rightly so. However, at some point I have come to 2 conclusions. Whatever happens, I feel Matt Rhule will be here for the immediate future. Hopefully with the former head coaches on staff he will learn from them. I believe the coaching hires were told Rhule would be here or they would not have signed on to be with a “lame duck” coach. I feel Rhule will be here at least 5 years. I also believe Tepper has changed the “Chain of command” and Fitterer is more in control of the draft. I also believe this was a solid draft. We filled positions of need and did not make foolish trades and mortgage the future. We also have cap space that hopefully we can use to retain our best players. I honestly feel like we are tremendously better than we were 2 months ago. Maybe I am just a “glass half full” person, but I like where the Panthers are much better than at the end of last season.

Round 3 Pick 94: Panthers Select Matt Corral - QB Ole Miss
Stuart Smith replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Best post all night! -
I want the Panthers to be the best team they can be. If that means we get Baker Mayfield or anyone else that can make us a better team so be it. I fear that the objective of some fans is more to get Matt Rhule fired than it is for the Panthers to win. If we put a winning team on the field and Matt Rhule is still head coach I can live with that.

Bozeman signed here to be the center.

How will you feel if we PASS on a LT in round one…..
Stuart Smith replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
Draft a left tackle please. When you sign a tackle at 46, 37 years old you are more likely to get a broken down Russell Okung or Matt Khalil than you are a Whitworth. Then you are looking for a tackle again after kicking the can down the road in a year. Failure to draft the best available Left Tackle in this draft will be an absolute failure. -
Baltimore and Eagles looking to trade up....
Stuart Smith replied to Lurk21's topic in Carolina Panthers
Please use the 6th pick for a franchise Left Tackle. Don’t blow this pick for 2 projects. Hopefully next year we will not pick this low. -
If..Just If….this happens and Sam turns it around and has a decent year and the Panthers would win…..maybe 9 games…it will be very interesting this time next year. I know it sounds far fetched, but stranger things have happened in the sports world.

Cross will not be there that long, too many teams needing O.L. Help.

I have read numerous places that the Giants would not go O.L. I hope they are right.

Panthers terminating Rock Hill project agreements
Stuart Smith replied to Dorian Gray's topic in Carolina Panthers
It needs to be said this is not about the S.C. Fan base. This is about an agreement between two entities that one party did not live up to. This could have been any town (city) in N.C. That made the same agreement and reneged on. There is a reason the Panthers were named the “Carolina Panthers” and not the Charlotte Panthers. As someone who lives 120 miles from Charlotte, I have numerous friends who have PSL’s. The Panthers fan base needs this regional fan base for merchandising and many other reasons. The fact that the Panthers draw many fans from outside Charlotte proper is often overlooked. If Tepper Sports does eventually ask for funding for a new stadium I imagine the state of NC will be asked to provide some level of funding. Something to think about. -

If Mara has any credibility, Giants are committed to their quarterback for this year. Murray wants Arizona to pay him.

Would you put it past Tepper to move the team?
Stuart Smith replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
3/4 of the owners have to approve a team relocating. It could always happen, but I think he knows he will make money here if he puts a quality product on the field. Do you think Jerry Jones will approve the Panthers moving to San Antonio? I think he is trying hard to make the Panthers competitive. He has made some missteps, there is a learning curve to ownership like there is coaching. If he has not fired Rhule because of the $ to buy him out, I don’t think he wants to incur the expense of moving a franchise right now. (Or 2 franchises) After all the bluster of the Rock Hill situation is resolved (It will get resolved) and the draft the conversation will change. It is a slow time of the year. -
Panthers may now be hesitant to trade back...
Stuart Smith replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I hope the Panthers keep their first round pick and select what should be a generational talent at left tackle. We haven’t seen enough for an extended period of time to know if Christensen can handle the position. We have needed a solid left tackle as long as we have needed a quarterback. If we want to take a flyer on a quarterback in the draft Fitterer can get creative and find one. -

If he wanted to move the team it takes 3/4 of the owners approval to move. With everything the league is facing now with the Flores lawsuit and allegations I don’t think they want any more negative publicity. There is no legitimate reason to move the Panthers. He has not yet asked for a new stadium. If he puts a winning team on the field it might help sway public opinion somewhat.
