Like they were comfortable with their pass rushers last offseason?
-
We have 2 startable cbs, good defenses have atleast 4 startable corners. We are in a pass happy era, base defenses have three corners on the field and dime packages with 4 corners are becoming incredibly common. We have zero depth at corner, if Jaycee or Jackson miss any time we will be torched in the air. Also Mike Jackson is an outside corner only, he is a big zone corner with below average change of direction and agility he would be a bad fit at nickle.
-
Respectfully man if your entire argument is based off of a simple pff score lookup then your argument is severely flawed. There is a reason Mike Jackson signed a two year 10 million dollar deal and Jaycee is one of the highest paid corners in the league. Secondly, I don’t get the comparison to our huge need at pass rush last year. What does our massive and historic lack of talent at rushing the passer have to do with a weakness on this years roster?
-
Rumor around the league is a third round pick, or something in that range.
-
I totally get this perspective, my only counter argument would be I think Jalen will play atleast another 4-5 seasons in the league. He is a true DB rather than only an outside corner, I could totally see him play the next few years at corner and transition to safety in his latter half of his career ala Charles Woodson. I think he would last longer on the team then the average 3rd round pick in the league.
-
Please give me your perspective, from mine our corner room is a gaping hole. Jaycee is a stud, but behind him we have essentially nothing outside of a below average cb2, bad NB and no depth.
-
Would you consider trading for Jalen Ramsey? Generally speaking I’m against trading for older vets on a rebuilding team. But, considering our massive need at CB it begs the question. Chau Smith Wade was a liability at nickle last year and Mike Jackson is more suited to be a CB3/4. Past that we have basically zero depth and zero promising young prospects at CB. Jaycee paired with Jalen would easily give us a top 5 corner duo for the next 2-3 seasons. Combined with the fact Jalen is the best run defending corner in the league and can align at NB and outside; with the potential to move to safety as he ages. This is the slowest news cycle part of the year just wanted to throw out this hypothetical. What are y’all’s thoughts?

Jags Not Picking Up Devin Lloyd's 5th Year Option (Trade Target?)
shaq replied to Jay Roosevelt's topic in Carolina Panthers
I generally am against trading picks for players in a rebuild, but for a young talented and ascending LB which is probably our biggest weakness rn I love it. Linebacker is one of the hardest positions to adjust to in the pros, dudes about to hit his prime. -
Round 1 - Panthers Select Tetairoa McMillan at Pick 8

Great pick! -
Shemar Stewart and the Huddle implodes
-
I don’t think he makes it past the Falcons at pick 15, Travon Walker went #1. All it takes is one team to fall in love with his potential.
-
Who did Natalie say?
-
Exactly, we got some major LEAKS it’s kinda scary. Not a good look at all, look no further then the Bills forcing our hands last year to trade up when the entire league knew Leggette was our target.
-
Are we the only team that press releases our first round pick every year? Am I crazy or is this a serious problem?
-
I need you to sell me on Walker, I get the whole high character and potentially good athlete angle(even though he never tested in the combine or pro day). I see a tweener who got majority of his production as a blitzing LB rather then on the EDGE. Who is undersized and has a tiny wingspan, who will get KILLED in run defense if he plays with his hand in the dirt. Also, why are we assuming he is a Micah Parsons level athlete if he never tested? There are just too many questions, tweener LBS who aren’t majority EDGE bust at a horrendous rate. Just my thoughts, I have been trying to convince myself otherwise. Great person and locker room guy!
-
Good point, honestly I would be punching the air if we ended up playing him deep. Then again what else can you expect from Evero, dude pigeon holes players into positions rather then actually building a defense around his players strengths.
-
Praying they hit, especially Moehrig we have nothing at Safety. Bare minimum he needs to be an above average run defender, I’m optimistic. Wharton personally I haven’t watched him enough to have an opinion, but after watching us signing the Shy Tuttles of the world I am a bit concerned.
-
lmaooo that’s actually hilarious
-
Even with Moerig, and adding Bobby Brown I’m still concerned. Wharton is an undersized 3tech who is below average against the run, but is a solid pass rusher. After allowing the most rushing yards (3057) in NFL history I think there’s not underestimating how far away we still are from a solid run defense even with Derrick Brown back.
-
Great point, plus I think in regards to our historically bad run defense they fit very well. They are both in the Greg Rousseau elite run defending mold.
-
Given our recent history with drafting athletes over production I genuinely would not blame you.
-
Shemar Stewart is probably the most controversial pick the Panthers could make, I think the huddle would explode if we did end up taking him. But, honestly I would be in support of taking him especially in a trade down or even with the 8th pick. I just made a video about my thoughts on him, feel free to watch if you have some spare time. Anyways, LFG DRAFT DAY IS HERE KEEP POUNDING!!
-
I like it, what positions would you be targeting between the first two rounds?
-
Yeah very well said, I think the reports coming out that we’re looking to trade back reflects some internal conflict on who we should draft. Call me crazy but I don’t think Jalon is a lock at 8, I think they have a multitude of guys with near identical grades.
-
Exactly, I feel like 8 is one of the hardest picks in the draft. There’s no clear cut BPA, rather an abundance of similarly talented players at different positions.
