  1. A few eye opening quotes from the Joe Person article in The Athletic this morning for you miserable fugs to enjoy: -But the three-month collapse after a 3-0 start has tested everyone’s patience, with one Panthers source characterizing the team’s regression in Rhule’s second season as “a clusterfug.” -Many of the 20-plus players, staffers, team and league sources interviewed for this story believe the same attributes that made Rhule a successful college coach are undermining his efforts in the NFL. They say Rhule — like a lot of ex-college coaches used to controlling every facet of the program — has the tendency to micromanage “everything that touches football,” as one source put it. -“The defense is starting to wear down,” said a longtime NFC personnel executive. “They don’t have a lot of size on defense, which is starting to show late in the year.” The Panthers have allowed 30.4 points during their current five-game losing streak. Only the Steelers (31.0 ppg) and the Chargers (30.5) have allowed more points since Week 10. -Another veteran scout said it’s tough to say what the Panthers’ identity is, but it’s not toughness. “(Rhule) can say toughness in his mind, but they’re not oozing toughness on the field,” the scout said. “They’re soft. They’re a really soft football team. I don’t see the defense stopping anybody where it’s a 14-13 score. That’s tough football.” -There’s also the feeling among league sources that Rhule keeps too many of his former college players, which can affect his credibility in the locker room. An agent who represents multiple Panthers’ players called Carolina “less meritocratic” than any team he deals with, adding the Panthers have Temple and Baylor players who wouldn’t make a roster anywhere else in the league. -Sources also say Rhule sometimes gets concerned with seemingly trivial matters, pointing to one week when Rhule was upset when a player signed an autograph before a game.
  2. I bet he told his wife something similar when he was liking Halle Berry’s pics on Instagram. “With the money Tepper is paying me, I could pull women like this….but I choose to be with you”
  3. Call is a season a let’s just forfeit the remaining games.
  4. I never root against us winning, but I have a feeling the Huddle will explode this year if we beat the Saints in a meaningless game. I hate the culture build vs draft pick debate….but this year it seems more than ever that we all want the highest pick possible. How will you feel if we beat the Saints in a battle of the suck bowl?
  5. Showing up to play…..and of course the DBO sign.
  6. If it resulted in us using our 2 1st round picks on a QB and a LT I would do it in a heartbeat. There isn’t really anyone on the team I wouldn’t trade to help us get a QB and a better O line.
  7. We had an all defense draft…. I say trade down, pick up as many additional draft picks as possible, and draft all O line at this point. Give us some hope for the love of god.
  8. I’ll take a trade down and use our 1st and 2nd round picks on linemen. Guard and Center are massive needs and we could continue to develop BC at LT with Erving as backup next year.
  9. Panthers coach Matt Rhule is among the NFL coaches whose job could be in jeopardy, but he says owner David Tepper is confident in him — even if Rhule hasn’t been told whether his job is safe. Rhule said today that he talked to Tepper and the two had a positive conversation. “I talked to Dave today,” Rhule said. “He’s been unbelievably supportive. All of our conversations this morning were about the best things to do moving forward. He’s been tremendously supportive and shown me a ton of confidence. We’re certainly not where we want to be but we knew that this was something that was gonna have to be done right. Dave’s been nothing but great to me and I appreciate his confidence.” Rhule said he didn’t ask directly whether his job is safe and will let Tepper speak to that if he chooses to. “I don’t ask those direct questions and I certainly would never speak to his words,” Rhule said. “I would never speak for him. I would feel like that’d be out of line.” There’s no doubt that Rhule has fallen short of what Tepper was expecting. But at this point it’s unknown whether Tepper thinks he can make the Panthers better by moving in a new direction. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/12/27/matt-rhule-i-didnt-ask-if-my-job-is-safe-but-panthers-owner-david-tepper-has-shown-confidence/
  10. Thank god we have Darnold and an 18 million dollar cap hit instead.
  11. Lol Rhule wouldn’t take blame for anything. He can’t even accept that people were calling for him to be fired.
  12. From Article “Buccaneers thrash Panthers to clinch NFC South”: Reporters in the press box passed along word of “Fire Matt Rhule” chants at Bank of America Stadium as the Panthers’ fifth-straight loss wound down. Finding a way to show some promise in the final two weeks would help ensure that doesn’t happen, but more days like this could lead to change of plans for Carolina. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/12/26/buccaneers-thrash-panthers-to-clinch-nfc-south/
  13. It’s hard to listen to even the commentators every 20 min talking about how this shows that your team has no identity.
  14. Please answer me this. What competent head coach in the league does this?
