We historically don't win in Atlanta. We aren't beating the Rams or on the road versus the 49ers. The Seahawks are for real and it's the Darnold revenge game (we always get slobber-knocked in revenge games). Tampa is actually playing better on the road than at home this season That leaves two games I think are possible wins, the Saints and the last game in Tampa if they rest players because they can't improve playoff positioning.

I don't think you frequent the draft sub-forum, but my argument for us to draft Warren (yes, that was my draft crush) was WR classes are increasingly deep draft after draft, but TEs like Warren or even Bowers are a once a draft or once every several drafts type of prospect. If you have a chance to grab a dude like that you don't pass them up. You can get legit WRs deep into round one or even on the second day, no problem. There's usually not just one can't miss WR prospect in any draft class. At most you have one TE, if any at all, in a given draft class.

Statistical wash. The only difference is one is a WR and the other is a TE, which shouldn't even be close, even in today's NFL I was told that drafting a TE over a WR or EDGE would be a dumb move with our first round pick. Generally speaking, it is, but generational talents break the rules of conventional norms. I knew that, but people didn't want to listen to reason and held tight to their drafting 101 rules of thumb.

Bryce Young's average stats over a whole season would be...
45catfan replied to TN05's topic in Carolina Panthers
The unicorn game this year versus Atlanta where all three phases were completely locked-in was the ONLY game we have won with Bryce Young as the starting QB that wasn't someone else sealing the win in late in regulation or overtime. His stans are like" he had to get them in position for the game winning run or FG." While true, he can't cap off the game with his own arm nor put the game out of reach before needing to manufacture a so-called "game winning" drive. Young as our starting QB we: lose badly, barely lose or once in a while pull a last second win out of our sphincters. Oh, and can't forget that one lucky game akin to winning the lottery like the Falcons game several weeks ago. -
At least XL has the tools to be better. He just needs to a) stay healthy and b) put in the work both in the film room and practice. I've been critical of XL, but he could turn things around. I'm not sure he has the mindset to take his game to the next level. Until he proves me wrong, he seems like he's collecting game checks with no will power to be any better.

Official Week 10: Saints @ Panthers Gameday Thread

Stafford = Young...got it. McVey likes a guy that can stretch the field. Bryce stretching the field is a 15 yard pass. -
Would you trade Derrick Brown to get a top QB prospect?

You can be become a millionaire transferring to the U to be their starting QB. Who's the lucky guy for '26? -

Agree to disagree. It's a different age. The rush to go Pro is not nearly as urgent as it once was. Moore would be top 10, possible top 5 pick. He's likely going back. -

That was *IF* a lot of the underclassmen declared, which is looking like nearly none of them are. It's largely going to be the same pool of guys as this year, minus the term limited seniors...which outside of Mendoza is looking skimpy. -

That's not it. The top guys I had in mind would be 1st rounders. Unlike years gone by, if you went back as a top guy it was an admission you weren't ready. Now, with NIL, there's not a money grab hurry and guys are actually encouraged to go back to school (if eligible) to hone their skills more. That being said, the '27 class went from being pretty damn good to absolutely loaded. -

I guess you haven't got the memo, nearly all the top prospects are going back to school. -
^^^This, lol! Misery loves company, so the more the....merrier?

Official Week 10: Saints @ Panthers Gameday Thread
45catfan replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
The only good thing about today is Tyler Shough look good enough that the Saints might pass on drafting a QB. I would freaking hate seeing Mendoza twice a year. That dude is going to be a monster in the League. -
Jones played into his 4th year without the extension. IIRC, Murray got a new deal in place of the option, but the Card's brass were VERY slow and methodical about it. There was a stink about language in the contract concerning mandatory film study time because apparently Kyler is a huge gamer. It's like they really didn't want to do it, however they felt obligated because Murray was the #1 overall pick and didn't want to give up on him despite lackluster results. Sound familiar?
-
Every time I think about Bryce's option, Murray is the dude that pops into my mind too (also Daniel Jones). If Tepper doesn't want mediocrity, then why sign a QB whose ceiling is mediocre? Heck a strong rushing attack and elite defense with weak QB play only got the Bears a single title in the mid 80's where our defense is no '85 Bears and Dowdle ain't Walter Peyton. Our recipe for success right now will win some games, but it's not a long term playoff winning scheme. Why? There will be games where our QB is asked to put the game on his shoulders and Bryce isn't that dude.
-
Mendoza better not become a Saint. I'd hate to see that dude twice a year. He's that dude.

What people fail to understand is Lance had a college career that lasted about as long as teenage boys first intercourse. To say he was raw was an understatement. So much so that even a QB whisperer had a difficult time molding him into a polished NFL product on top of multiple nagging injuries. The dud is in his mid-twenties, finally healthy and little miles on the tread. Low risk, high reward. If he's available, it would be stupid not to kick the tires. It took Darnold and Mayfield to hit their 3rd or 4th team for things to finally click. This is Lance's 3rd stop, I believe. It's either time for it to click for him or be relegated to a full time backup. Roll the dice....
-
Wrong. At least we put a QB sneak in the play book and and add plays over 20 yards.
-
He's a decent RB1, but a really good RB2. He's the first skill position player that has done anything for us recently, which parlayed him to a nice new deal.
-
Do you have proof to the contrary? I mean, I don't dislike Bryce the man, I dislike Bryce as the starting QB for the Carolina Panthers. I'm not going to dump on every aspect of the guy's life just because he's not the QB1 I prefer.
-
LB is a great value mid-round in the first. Unless there is an absolute can't miss WR prospect, stay away. Too many other holes to try to stack WRs.
-
The number QBs that are out of eligible years is pretty skimpy. Don't expect a deep class as most will go back to school that can, especially the top prospects. Right now you have a decent group of second round guys and some prospects early day 3. I suspect there will be some guys overvalued that will go in round one because to the lack of top prospects.
-
His problems aren't mental, he's actually a really sharp guy. Bryce's limitations are all physical: height, weight and arm strength. No amount of experience is going to overcome that. He knows our offensive system, is locked in with our personnel and knows how to read defenses. The problems are he can't see down field in a crowded pocket, has to step into his throws to get any sort of velocity on it, even still limited on the distance and is zero threat in the run game in as far as called QB runs (not busted pocket scrambles).

OFFICIAL Panthers @Packers GameDay Thread
45catfan replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Correct, the '99 game is the most memorable Panthers/Packers game ever in my book. The '96 NFCCG is second only because of how it ended.
