  1. Who is this good center in the run game that we had as recently as 5 years ago that you're thinking of? Agree with reasonable offer but no more. Agree with the best run blocking in a long time. I'm fine with a back that can consistently get you a first down every time they touch the ball. Backs who are a threat to score every time they touch it are extremely rare and cost too much money. Barry Sanders was the definition of threat to score every time he touched it. It did not lead the Lions to playoff success.
  2. @WarPanthers89 Appreciate you bringing this point up. It didn't convince me that turning down the Rams trade was a good idea, but it did make me think of Burns in a new light. Anytime someone brings a fresh perspective backed by solid facts, I'm all about it. Kudos.
  3. I second this motion. Dude has an eastern european first name and a french last name, neither the easiest spell. LVS it is.
  4. At this point in the evolution of the NFL, asking if RB is a high draft priority is akin to asking if kicker is a high draft priority. Whether your kicker situation is good or bad, it still isn't a draft priority. When your team sucks at running the ball, it is more likely about your OL's run blocking, With quality blocking, literally hundreds of guys who played RB in college can get you 4 yards in the NFL.
  5. Ty ty ty. As much time and energy as fans spend obsessing over every aspect of football, it amazes me that more don't see the self interest in many FO and coaching decisions. Fitterer failed to take that deal not because it was a bad deal for the team, but because it was a deal that wasn't in his personal interest in retaining his job. If you're a head coach or GM, winning a SB is great, making the playoffs is great, but keeping those paychecks coming is even greater. Until coach and GM contracts are heavily incentivized towards playoff success, the number one priority for any HC or GM being paid millions of dollars a year will be retaining your job over on the field success.
  6. Why can't they pay him starter money but not break the bank? Unless you have a starter on a rookie deal, you have to pay going rate for the position unless you're underpaying for obvious talent deficiencies. Not everyone needs to be a "build around" piece nor do you need to pay them that way. Whatever the going rate for a middle of the road non pass rushing linebacker is what we should offer. If Luvi won't take that, then let him walk.
  7. Or just sign another dude just like him off of their couch. Guys, it's more about the Oline's blocking. Once you have a solid Oline that can open holes, there are plenty of guys sitting at home on their couch who can get you 4 yards a carry in the NFL. Everyone ooo's and ahhh's over McCaffrey, and his abilities as a runner and especially a receiver out of the backfield are top notch, but on the ground you can pay someone a fraction of what McCaffrey makes for nearly identictal run production. Not hating on CMC, not hating on Foreman, but this is just the reality. Stop paying RB's and stop drafting them, especially early in the draft. You wanna take a flyer on some sixth rounder who can play ST's? Be my guest, but dont' waste money or early picks on the position.
  8. QB play is the one big obvious hole, followed by a second pass rusher to compliment Burns. Damien Wilson is a non entity at MLB, but that's one of the least important positions on the field these days on D. Upgrading that shouldn't be too hard.
  9. ... START YOUR OWN THREAD! Can't get two posts into a thread for Luvu without someone changing the subject. What up with that? Sure, yeah, BC solid, that's not the topic here. I'm coming over to your house and changing the channel to Real House Wives of Des Moines every time you try to watch sports for a week.
  10. 12 tackles, 2 sacks. Plays like his hair is on fire. Why is no one talking about the game this dude had? Let the love start here.
  11. No, it's not, and if you really think that, you need some perspective. Sandusky and Cosby literally ruined and destroyed people's lives and committed serious crimes. Matt Rhule is just a good college football coach who's not good at the pro level. In that respect, he has tons of company and no one's life is destroyed, not even his. The millions he's been paid will cushion the pain of his failure. Molestation of young men & date rape are far far worse than failing as an NFL head coach. It's not even close.
  12. In other news, the sky is blue, water is wet, and women have secrets.
  13. I know you're not really serious, but let's not pretend bad coaching is anywhere close to what Sandusky and Cosby did. Bad coaching is just poor job performance. It's not a crime.
  14. The sort of nerds who show up for trivia nights are often exactly the sort of nerds who don't follow sports.... Speaking as someone you definitely want on your trivia team.
  15. To be fair, one factor in the thinking here that is part of the equation but rarely gets discussed is the value of really good players on cheap rookie deals. Having a young high performing QB on a rookie deal in particular provides you with so much value at so little cost it's almost a cheat code because of the way it lets you load up your roster elsewhere. If the Chargers don't win a SB or at the least come close in the next few years before they have to sign Herbert to an extension, it will be an indictment of their FO's ability to capitalize. Should everyone be traded away willy nilly, even in a rebuild? No.
  16. Doubtful those picks continue to be on the table at that point.
  17. Every village has it's idiot. He's ours. Okay one of ours.
  18. If he finishes those pressures that he fails to convert from crappy arm tackles where he slides off a QB half his size, then yeah all of a sudden he's elite, with half a dozen more sacks a season. I agree we should have been all over that one. Rams trying to mortgage their future for now, we should have been buyers.
  19. Agreed. And aside from Josh Allen, how many NFL qb prospects who showed less than stellar accuracy in college improve that aspect of their game at the pro level? To me it seems a short list indeed for such a key part of a prospect's game.
  20. 4Corners regards Hines as a scrub because he once argued with him on a message board, or said something bad about UNC, or used his brain. Useful tool for checking to see if your thinking is sound: Does 4Corners have the exact opposite opinion? If so, you're probably good.
  21. Sorry I stopped paying attention after to be fair, I have no intention of being fair. Also what were we talking about?
  22. I got bad grades in science so I'm perfectly comfortable positing this is how singularities are formed. Prove me wrong.
