There could be quite a few HC openings this year

Tepper got his guy last time. When multiple teams were looking. He just picked the wrong guy. -
I know Rhule is bad, but Meyer might be worse

We're in a better situation with Rhule because he's a year closer to being fired. -
Chinn has been completely misused this year. I don't think he deserves to be in the Pro Bowl. He was a stud in his role last season. I think Reddick is probably the only deserving player this season. If Luvu got in the game more, he might have done enough.

Well at least he'll be ready for his next job.

Deviation from the Original Plan.. Is the Reason for this Mess..
PNW_PantherMan replied to WOW!!'s topic in Carolina Panthers
The whole idea of a "bridge" QB was a mistake. Signing Bridgewater was one of the first mistakes Rhule made. It just doesn't fit the rebuild at all. -
Interesting nugget from Rhule’s Brady presser

Its just a different situation entirely. It genuinely takes time to build programs in college because of the have and have nots of recruiting. In the NFL, you can build a winner from almost any situation in 2 seasons. Or at least be on the right track. This is because of the salary cap and most teams being relatively even in resources. -
I care more about the guy hiring the coach than the actual hire itself. I don't know the first thing about hiring a good NFL coach, and apparently Tepper doesn't either. Hopefully we have football people making that decision this time.

Well good for Joe, but I pity the school that thinks he's a power 5 head coach.

Doug Pederson is one of the few guys I could see taking such a chance. He's already got a SB win on his resume, so if we flamed out with him as OC, I don't think anyone would blame him specifically. If he had any success, he would find himself in interviews for head coaching jobs within a season. But I don't think Matt Rhule is hiring Doug Pederson, or anyone with legit NFL experience for that matter. He would have done it when he was hired, but instead he just hired his college crew.

Heineke being a franchise QB that's just made of glass is something I can't buy. Its revisionist history. We dumped Heineke because he stunk in limited action, and had limited potential (size, age). He's salvaged a career with Washington, and is growing into an entirely different player. On Minshew, most people aren't upset because they thought he'd be our franchise QB. We would just rather pay a 6th to have Minshew play QB than trade a 2nd to play Darnold. They are both low tier starters/high tier backups, but one of them cost a lot more than the other one. We could have paid a lot less to suck.

Person: Rhule could be next, but probably not this year
PNW_PantherMan replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree, and I think part of that is Rhule getting his "year 3" fixes forced into this season. Moving on from Sam Darnold and Joe Brady during the season just tells me he isn't getting a 3rd year to fix these problems. Tepper wants to see some actual improvement before committing to that. -
Are you willing to give Rhule a third season?
PNW_PantherMan replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
100%. Like how Urban Meyer said every week feels like playing Alabama in the NFL. Some rosters are better than others, but the gap is never that bad. The worst NFL roster is way better than the best college one. You can either win or you can't, and that becomes evident within 2-3 seasons. -
If last year is any indication, he'll turn that 1st round pick into 15 6th round picks. In on every deal.
-
Please name one thing Matt Rhule has done to look like an NFL head coach beyond getting that contract from Tepper. There's no use in giving him more time. He aint it.
-
The whole staff is unqualified, including Rhule. We are outmatched on the sidelines on a weekly basis. He needs to be gone after the season.
-
We'd be lucky if a top college program decides to buy Matt Rhule off of us. Unfortunately, I don't think it's happening. For me, I'll believe it when I see it. Matt Rhule isn't going anywhere until he gets fired, and I'd be shocked if he's hired by a major top 25 program.

Our defense showed flashes of being elite because we have a strong pass rush, and we were showing teams looks they weren't used to dealing with. However, just like Joe Brady's playbook, teams have figured out how to attack our defense. Snow is better than Brady (who is the worst OC in the league), but he is still getting it handed to him by NFL level defensive coordinators. Talent wise, the most disappointing part of our defense is the interior line. Derrick Brown was supposed to be a lock, but he doesn't look anything like Kris Jenkins or Star Lotulelei did. At best, this is a defense built to play with a lead. But, they are paired with an offense that can't do a thing.

Cam still has enough in the tank to win football games. We need a new offensive line and new coaching staff, though. We should be building a line that an average QB can have some success behind. Taylor Heineke has played well, but part of the reason he looks good is the Washington offensive line is strong.

We are seeing the end of Cam's career
PNW_PantherMan replied to Hayden Panettiere's topic in Carolina Panthers
Jake was signed to be a game manager on an offense built to pound the football with Stephen Davis. Cam was brought in to be the savior of the franchise.
