Yea he also had 3 straight years of bad retread QBs. Not sure how much of that was the GM's idea vs Reich pushing for it. Rivers wasn't the worst idea in the world, but he thought he could fix Carson Wentz and he was wrong. And then of course there's Matt Ryan. The Colts never really had a dangerous offense while he was there. They were more of a defensive team with a good running game.

I wouldn’t riot if we hired Payton, but I’m not really convinced he wants to coach the Panthers at this point. And I feel like the Saints would probably make it prohibitively expensive for us. I think he ends up in Denver or back on TV next year. I would be satisfied with Steichen or Kafka, and I think I would take Reich over Wilks if those two fall through.

The good teams are good at scoring points and stopping the other team from scoring points.

Its both. They have some very talented defenders.

They're talented no doubt, but they are all over what the 49ers are trying to do. That's scheme.
