So... Common Sense Says We're Drafting Stroud... Right????
TLGPanthersFan replied to tukafan21's topic in Carolina Panthers
Fields didn’t look bad when they actually let him throw the ball and he wasn’t running for his life. No way they’d do this without Reich at least approving of it. Don’t want to piss off your new coach. I trust Reich and Co. to get the best out of the new QB. -
Less his decision making was getting better and more the coaching staff knew what QB they had and wouldn't let him do anymore than the basics because if he did more he'd have a bunch of turnovers.

Could be a good receiver to pair with a rookie. Good comfort blanket. He still has some gas in the tank.

Honestly I think it is inevitable he is probably gone.

You really think people will keep watching if the team just does that? I am falling asleep just thinking of a team that settles at QB and keeps drafting positions other than QB hoping one day, which will never come, a QB falls into our lap supposedly worth investing in. Mahomes don’t happen very often. It is hard to build a team for a rookie but it isn’t hard to build a team around a rookie.

Did he only start because the head coach had no one else and went with the vet in the room?

New trade down theory coming out of League circles

Then they do the exact opposite. But something tells me the Panthers wouldn’t be too unhappy to get Young if the Texans flip flopped. -
I have never see a system as QB friendly as the 49ers. I mean it had Brock Purdy looking like an amazing QB. Yes Jimmy G has a winning record as QB. But you have to realize that it is because of the system he is in. He was responsible for them losing the Super Bowl and the 2022 NFC Championship. He has shown during big games a great capacity to choke. As people have pointed out if we did get him it should be a 1 or 2 year deal, but with a rookie being developed behind him.

Panthers are now the betting favorite for the #1 pick
TLGPanthersFan replied to Martin's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’ve always preferred the get a young QB then build around him plan. The build a team and then get a young QB doesn’t seem to work that often. Not every team can be lucky like the Chiefs and have a complete team ready to insert a new young QB. I think building this team around a QB with a rookie deal will work well for the Panthers. Keeping a team together before you draft a rookie QB is hard because players get tired of losing and then leave or want more money and the team we built for a rookie suddenly is gone. -

And possibly waiting till next year using picks to more up to get a QB could possibly have the same result. Just a different year. There are what 5 or 6 supposed good QBs right now for 2024. That number will likely shrink to 2-4. Then we are left with project players. I get peoples logic not to move up but wait till next year, pretty much keeps coming up every off-season for the last 3 years, but eventually ya gotta take a chance and if not this year then next year. BUT I guarantee that there will be people who don’t want to move up or draft a QB were we are, I predict 15+, and just wait till 2025. Vicious cycle. -

You are assuming people won’t be back here next year saying that no QB in 2024 is worth our first round pick. You are also assuming we will have a QB better than this year fall to us next year. Pretty obvious that, unless the team falls off a cliff, we probably won’t be drafting high enough to get a top QB in the first round. Unless every QB coming out in the 2024 supposedly stacked class is good, they won’t be, then we will be right back where we started every off-season. Arguing the same darn thing. We have no idea if any of the QBs next year will be good and if they are we will probably still have to pay to move up and it will be expensive. Panthers won too many games this year and really put themselves in between a rock and a hard place. I don’t envy the FO of the decisions they will have to make. -
Would love to see Fields with a good coaching staff and o line. Yeah a lot of his impressive plays were running but he also made some good throws that showed potential. I’d give him a chance.
