  1. You don't become a billionaire by paying for things yourself.
  2. I'm not giving them Darnold AND a 5th rounder. We've spent enough Draft capital on that guy as it is.
  3. My approach to the QB position is that, first of all, you always carry three. It's the most important position in sports - having an extra STer on the roster rather than a third QB is mental to me. Secondly, you draft one every other year (or every year if you don't like the guys currently in your room). To me you have a starter, a backup and a development guy. Those roles are flexible depending on age / experience / potential. Obviously you're going to miss on a lot of those later round Draft picks, but every now and again you're going to find a gem.
  4. Then when you do run into your 'Franchise' QB you're still looking for a LT. Weird take.
  5. I honestly think he's probably too broken at this point to fix, at least in terms of reaching his potential. Putting him behind THAT OLine last year was criminal, and a complete waste of resources - they traded for a reclamation project then threw him into the fire. I'd much rather strengthen the OLine for the next guy, whoever that may be, than roll the dice with a premium pick on a middling QB prospect this year.
  6. Mainly because he wasn't very good at his job.
  7. I was frustrated with his 7 drops (that number seems v generous).
  8. Selecting a QB at #6 is more of the same. I personally don't think either of the Bridgewater or Darnold deals were bad - Bridgewater was clearly a toxic personality in the locker room and Darnold hasn't had a chance behind this OLine. That said, taking a middling-poor QB prospect is more of the same - throwing poo at the wall and seeing what sticks.
  9. The thing that stands out with Cross to me is that he knows his assignment and is athletic / technical enough to complete it. Watch any of his cut-ups and see how readily (and smoothly) he passes off the inside rusher to pick up the stunt / late blitzer. It's beautiful stuff.
  10. I liked him last year as a second round project, but he didn't make the jump you'd expect him to as a Senior. He struggles throwing to his left. Another kid that should have jumped to the NFL while the hype wasn't being analysed too closely.
  11. Whoever delivers your eulogy has an incredibly easy job. "As anyone who knew stbugs will tell you, he never recovered from the Panthers passing over Trey Smith in the 2021 NFL Draft".
  12. We survived the Watson clusterfug. We just need to stay the course and survive this Draft. Picking Pickett at #6 is just a terrible move.
  13. And I wish we'd taken Mahomes when he was on the table, but you can't have everything.
  14. I didn't like Lance at all - but he's got prototypical Franchise QB size (Willis is on the smaller side) and he put up a better season than Willis has during his one year as a starter.
  15. You saw anyone we put behind C get obliterated last year and still you're making these posts that 'hog molly' picks are boring. I'd say I'm baffled, but this is the Huddle after all.
