    I'd be delighted if we were just a good QB away. Our roster is miles away from that being a reality right now. Two more Drafts like the last one and I'll change my tune.

    The Bridgewater trade rumours were at the same time we were in the running for Stafford and Watson. You can't trade him away if you don't have a backup plan. Grier and Walker aren't NFL calibre players. You can't go into the Draft NEEDING to draft a player - that's how you end up with a bust.

    I think YGM will still see a lot of game time - he's got the prototypical 4-3 SDE size that nobody else on our roster does. He'll be our best run defender at DE I feel.

    Mahomes isn't mobile, per se. Not in the same way an Allen, Herbert or a Watson is.

    Lance is a complete project pick. He has all the physical tools you look for, but his mechanics need a lot of work and his lack of experience is startling. He's a second round pick in most years, but evidently this isn't a normal year.

    Why would the Jaguars trade him? He's a very affordable backup who has proven he's more than capable of starting in the NFL. Those guys are gold dust.

    I'd argue we weren't consistently competitive even with Newton. It's the cult of personality that fostered around him that has baffled me. But I appreciate I'm in the minority there.

    I genuinely blame Cam Newton for ruining this franchise's fan base. A lot of you have a QB obsession - there's 21 other guys on the field.

    Elway and Young were before my time. As I understand it though they're both mobile QBs.

    No. No. I was all for sitting at #8 and considering him, depending who else was still available. I'm not giving away three first round picks for him - or anyone in our current situation.

    How many of you guys have serious gambling debts? Stop throwing good money after bad in this desire for a QB. The 49ers have set the market - it's ridiculous. We're in no position to mortgage our future for one player. Sit tight at #8 and see what happens on April 30. Be very open to trading back.

    I disagree - the best I've seen that system run was when the Broncos had Jake Plummer - a mobile QB. You have to have a mobile QB in that system to account for the athletic zone blocking Olinemen not holding up against the pass.

    I'm pretty much Jones' biggest fan on the board and even I don't think they've traded all that for him.

    I'm currently delighted we didn't get Adam Peters if he had any part in this trade.

    You want to give up future first round picks for the 4th best QB (in theory) in the Draft? Just have to let it ride at this point - continue rebuilding the roster.

    Same, but for Fields. To me it's Wilson / Lawrence - big gap - Fields / Jones - gap - Lance (dude is all potential) - Mond - everyone else.

    We don't know how much the Bills have paid him (or at least I can't see with a quick Google search). We'd have had to pay him a minimum of $2,133,000 if we'd tendered him. As we didn't think Kerr was worth $1.6m I can understand why they'd have balked at paying Obada more.

    Most credible evaluators have Jones as the #3 QB in the Draft.

    Where has this this 'top 4 QB' phrase come from? People throw it around like it's a fact. It really baffles me.
