  1. You know who that does sound like? At least as far as the media and everyone else says at least. The old man Tom Brady. I do think Reich will want to go with a veteran qb and I think at some point in the offseason Brady to carolina may get a little buzz at least. I dont know how I feel about it though.
  2. The only one I would say really fits that mold of the top 4 qbs is Young. Accuracy and decision making are literally the main weaknesses of the next 3 prospects.
  3. The riverboat ron moniker was hugely overblown. He only started being riverboat ron after he was about to lose his job for being too conservative and anytime that the game really mattered he reverted back to being super conservative. Going for it on 4th and 1 on the opponent's side of the field in meaningless games with Cam at qb isnt that aggressive. Its idiotic not to.
  4. I dont think you instantly change your entire way of thinking because you take one swing and miss. The odds arent good that the first coach you ever hire is going to be great regardless of experience. First time coach from defensive background and known to be conservative is totally different than first time coach from offensive background. The only thing similar is the amount of experience they have at head coaching.
  5. I'm sure you can also make a list of previous head coaches for other teams who also never won much again. That's most of them actually. It's a crap shoot either way. I would rather take the risk than low ceiling retreads.
  6. Also the whole supposedly being a defensive coach and letting them burn us for 3 huge touchdowns running the same play over and over without helping adjust.
  7. I doubt it. Fitterer even said after this season that last years draft was a "nuts and bolts" draft and never mentioned Corral I dont think. The question I'm sure that came up is what would you want to do to fix the qb problem. Not, can you fix corral?
  8. To be fair, of course hes going to say hes got big plans for the offense. What else is he going to say when trying to get a job.
  9. The defense was much better before Wilks and holcomb took over with the same roster. Also, all of those rankings are in the bottom third of the nfl. That's below average at the very best
  10. Not just destroy our secondary. Literally ran the same play for 3 bomb touchdowns and we still never adjusted.
  11. First off, I would rather have Steichen. Payton would be a distant third choice, but jeez this place. So some people here think Payton retired from the saints, not because he didnt want to coach there anymore, but he retired for an entire year just in the hopes to screw the Panthers in there hypothetical at the time next head coach search?
  12. All the trade up talk will be moot when we give up this years first or next years to sign Sean Payton anyways. I'm definitely against that more than trading up for Stroud but that's the way things currently seemed to be headed imo. I'd rather bring in Steichen personally.
  13. We were a bottom third defense in yards allowed and a bottom half defense in points this year and our total defense numbers regressed a lot from the previous season and even from the first 6 games of the season. With Wilks a super conservative defensive coach at the helm. I would at least like to have an innovative offensive coach if you're going to put up bottom third defensive numbers as a defensive coach.
  14. While I definitely agree with you, I think it all comes down to his workouts and how the scouts see him. You cant trade away your first next year to take a qb just to take one. Over reaching for need puts a lot of teams in a hole quick. In the history of the panthers how often has trading future draft picks worked well for us?
  15. There are a lot of question marks with Stroud. It would be different if he was a for sure prospect. I'm fine with giving up a couple seconds or something but I dont like giving up next year's first when we very well could be a bad team next year even with Stroud.
  16. He has also performed terribly in the playoffs and against most of the best teams in general. He is an elite runner who is great against above average teams and below but I dont believe in him in the playoffs.
  17. TB had a losing record and Seattle and detroit finished 9-8, and we split with TB and our coaching staff was totally exposed the second time we played them. Those teams werent exactly regular season juggernauts.
  18. Exactly. Every above average team they lost and every game that actually mattered they lost. He went .500 against a bunch of below 500 teams.
  19. Going this year or next year wont affect that big second deal though. Heck if you're confident you're great then if you're just worried about that second deal, the way the rookie contracts scale its probably better to go in the second round so you bypass that 5th year option if you really want to gamble.
  20. It's something that may happen more now that players can make big money in college too.
  21. He has some fine points and some I disagree with. This is a weird quote though. "We know already that Wilks would work out. The players respect him and generally want him to return. He grew up in Charlotte and is deeply rooted in the Queen City." hes pushing the media narrative. How do we already know he would work out? He went .500 against one of the easiest schedules in the nfl. Interim coaches often are really good that year and then fizzle out quickly once hired full time. But the "we already know that Wilks would work out" quote is such a weird thing to say when you're trying to push your opinion as fact.
  22. I dont know if it has been mentioned or not but did anyone see the huge Vegas odds increase last night of Levis being the first pick. They went from somewhere around 20 to 1 to 10 to 1.
  23. Yea maybe he wasnt thinking about it but when he said last year was a "nuts and bolts offensive draft" and this draft was going to be more sexy, that doesn't sound like he has a lot of faith in Corral doing much.
  24. I respect what you're saying but there is at least a decent chance Holcomb would be retained as DC because of their history. The defensive roster was flawed all year. You blame Snow for that like he built the defense himself but Wilks and Holcomb just inherited it. The thing that worries me is Snow figured out a way to make it work with its problems. Holcomb and to some extent Wilks instantly tried to change it and force a square peg into a round hole instead of working with the flawed personnel they had to work with. You can dance around it all you want but it's a fact.
  25. Sounds like a potential Wilks staff lol. Bring back Turner as OC and keep Holcombe as DC...
