I'm sold.

Oh don't get me started on officiating now I still can't believe how night and day it is compared to how refs just let anything go when Cam was still in his prime. While that is a factor bare in mind the refs aren't going to physically dive in front of Young as some sort of human shield and prevent a 300 pound lineman from landing on him. Stroud has the accuracy edge I think that should be a foregone conclusion at this point.
-
If you truly think he only has the edge on size I think you are engaging in some self deception but that's cool. And let's be real. Doug Flutie was drafted on 1985. If you are stretching all the way back almost 40 years ago to find an example that's not a good sign.

Oh I like his skill. There are some small knocks of his work within the pocket to consider though that others have noted in one of the hundred threads about this recently. But why must he always be compared to current or future hall of famers to distract from his biggest con? They both just have potential at this point. But Stroud has the edge based on the full picture.

Doug Flutie lol. I love the desperation to defend his height. Always amusing.

Tony Pauline: CJ Stroud or Anthony Richardson
frankw replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Who is truly right or wrong in these discussions? None of us knows which QB will be the best out of this group. It might not even be Young or Stroud. Idk why some of you guys are so unwilling to just admit who you like. You clearly follow Alabama at least a little bit. It's odd to lie about it. But whatever works for you -

I didn't say he was injured last season but he has missed games previously and he's approaching the age where many linebackers struggle with this. I'm sorry discussing this has you so angry and triggered but at the end of the day it's a business. The Carolina Panthers have long overinvested in defense and let the offense make something out of nothing. Now we are not only resetting completely on offense we have no leaders no clear #1 #2 or maybe even #3 WR no real threat at TE. This regime has their work cut out for them in surrounding our new rookie QB with a great supporting cast. It can be done it won't be easy. I'm glad you get to rejoice about continuing to pay your favorite linebacker but also remember our defense took a beating last season in some of those final games. If this team is going to return to relevancy it will be through our offense.

Confused Why Some Seem to Think We Got Fleeced
frankw replied to Daddy_Uncle's topic in Carolina Panthers
My thoughts on the DJ Moore trade as it pertains to Scott Fitterer is basically that bit on Robot Chicken where Ang Lee is talking about how The Hulk surely won't be a giant flop that ruins his career. I hope Scott is the GM some folks here believe him to be. -
This is just opening the door to other potential variables that we shouldn't even be having to consider for what we gave up to move to 1. You pick your QB and keep moving.

For sure. That could never happen anyway.

At least this Buckeye Homer guy is transparent about it unlike some of these Bama fans hiding in plain sight. -
I would love what Young brings to the table as a passer and overall signal caller the same as Stroud. Both have what we seek as far as intangibles for the position. It just boils down to little things and which QB you think will guide the team for the long haul with the more productive career and you just can't ignore those little things for either prospect. Make no mistake we could find ourselves in a position with regret that's what we don't want. I don't envy Fitterer and Reich in that area. But that's why they get paid what they get paid to do this.

Excellent post sir. I concur with most of this. I'm also concerned about the glaring lack of any semblance of leadership on the offense. Like yeah I get the rah rah we're keeping Shaq Thompson because leadership but the defense got ran over by Pittsburgh in Carolina last year with that leadership. Our new rookie QB can only do so much to pickup the slack in that dept. We are going to need some veterans.

Moore can be replaced the issue isn't just that it's also getting an even better player we just raised our own bar by discarding him. Now the stakes are even higher for Fitt. That's on him.
-
You seem to be implying I hate Bryce. That's absurd. Unlike some of the fans here in his camp I do not think he is "trash" like some have labeled Stroud while hilariously claiming to not be Bama fans. Both prospects have many more pros than they do cons and check the boxes we seek. It boils down to do you think the heigh/weight will be an issue. It's a personal opinion thing. As for the trade involving Moore I am wait and see. I remember having many a heated convo with Panthers fans back in the day about whichever mediocre WR we were hoping would be the next Moose let alone anywhere near the stratosphere of a Steve Smith. Nothing is guaranteed. Hopium is high right now but having to hit on both a franchise QB an elite WR and find a legit TE in one offseason is a tall order. If you guys think it can be done you should get your egos ready to be checked because it probably won't happen quickly and there might be some lumps along the way.
-
Funny but I assume you've been here as long as I have and the best WR's we've fielded before him through almost 3 decades were 89 Moose Brandon LaFell and briefly Kelvin Benjamin. He's already 4th in the all time receiving list. Downplay how not easy it will be though if it makes you feel better
-
Obviously he is not Hill or Jefferson or Chase. But the onus is on us to not only replace him but considering we discarded him we must find an even better replacement. Trading him was the easy part.
