Panthers cut Will Grier - PJ Wins backup QB spot
Jackie Lee replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
"They released veteran cornerback Rashaan Melvin as part of the moves. That will leave them young in the secondary for the first two weeks of the season. The Panthers also waived safety Kenny Robinson, waived/injured running back Reggie Bonnafon and placed rookie long snapper Thomas Fletcher on season-ending injured reserve." One more move to make -
They can't IR him until after 4pm today, so someone who is getting cut before 4 today will be back tmrw, unless they can work some timing magic out to avoid exposing anyone to waivers

He's 28 and two years of snap yips, that's worse than snapping well and getting bull rushed from a QB timing standpoint. The QB prob prefers 2 seconds to get the ball out vs scrambling to recover a bad snap -10 yards

Rhule didn't like Jermaine Carter either at first either , he's got some ego issues adjusting to grown men but maybe someone has Rhule cooling out a little bit

I was looking the 2020 roster and Franklin was initially listed at LB, I guess he either looked better at Safety or couldn't gain the weight, I think he's 215ish? I like Robinson but seems like Rhule doesn't so he might be the one

He's got the snap yips apparently

We probably can't keep all of Franklin/Robinson/Chandler/Burris/Hartsfield so maybe one of those is worth a 6 or 7 but theres' already been a good amount of safeties cut outright. Secondary is gonna be some hard decisions on the depth

Pretty sure Paradis and Elflein are bad at both. Honestly hard to say since we've basically never seen CMC in this system

Shi Smith hopefully won’t miss too much time…

Good news is the new rules are 3 weeks minimum IR and unlimited players can return. Best thing is it means he probably didn't need surgery, so either collarbone fracture or some kinda sprain -
Kinda less detailed, way less annoying voice and all 22 views. After watching Teddy tonight at least we'll have more exciting plays for better or worse

Sounds like he doesn't need surgery for the shoulder/collarbone whatever it is so 4-8 weeks I'm guessing. Can come in fresh for the long season
