This is the worst panthers team in our history
Seltzer replied to philw5289's topic in Carolina Panthers
The talent on this roster is above average. We have more talent than any team since 2015. I've watched this team since 1995. There is plenty of talent. This team sucks bc of the QB and offensive play calling, almost exclusively -
If you have PSLs are are already committed financially, do you not show up? I handle multiple million dollar accounts but even I couldn't sell someone else to pay for this crap
-
Exactly... and cutting Nixon this early on just to sign this guy??
-
Unless they think Nixon is never going to be the same post injury, this makes no sense IMO
-
Exactly. It's past time. I've certainly not been sold on Rhule, but some people are just overboard to the point I honestly think they get more pleasure when this teams fails than succeeds. Rhule has done an underrated job of revamping the God awful roster he inherited. He does deserve every ounce of criticism about his QB decisions, but if Baker can be the guy, the so what? If Rhule can't lead this team to playoffs in year 3, I'm cool with and want to change direction. But some people act like Rhule hasn't done anything right and that's simply not true. This roster is significantly better than what we had rolling into 2020. Yes, there are still depth concerns but almost every team has that. We at least have legitimate starters unlike in 2020 where we started a guy (Rasul Douglas) less than 2 weeks after he was cut. I could see Rhule's tenure being much like Seifert's. Didn't look good at the time, but both will get better credit in retrospect for rebuilding and drafting good players, even if they weren't the right guys to be the head coach. Anyway, let's give the man at least a few games this season before acting like it's an unmitigated disaster

Video of Kenny Robinson's hit + celebration vs. Kristian Wilkerson
Seltzer replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
It was a cheap shot, totally unnecessary and completely unacceptable for practice. He definitely deserved to be thrown out of practice. But Robinson looks like he could be a core ST guy, provides good depth, and has some dawg in him we've been solely lacking. All unrelated to this video in a vacuum. I'd rather have KRob over Franklin or Chandler. He offers so much more and it's past time to wash all the unnecessary Temple/Baylor players off the roster. I'm tired of losing, tired of us being boring, and tired of not having an identity. KRob can help on all 3... hope he makes the 53 -
Exactly. This is a nonsense post TBH

How Many of Rhule's Bear-Owls make the final 53?
Seltzer replied to 45catfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Good list except I could see them keeping 7 WRs and only 10 DBs. Agree with others there is a chance we make a waiver claim (and/or sign after week 1) for an offensive/defensive lineman. I guess I could still see a move at LB but I think we are better there than I thought before TC and preseason -

100%. Rhule isn't going to totally wash his hands of PJ, but PJ was not going to make this 53 man roster even before the Corral injury. I think the plan all along was to cut PJ and try to resign him to the PS. Corrals injury just means Baker and Sam will be the only 2 QBs on the 53 man roster IMO -
I'm at a loss trying to understand the consternation here. I certainty don't want to see Corral hurt, but this is probably the best thing for the team this year. PJ will be traded or probably just cut (although I think he will be on the PS if no one picks him up)' we roll with Sam and Baker, and Matt gets a redshirt season. Best part is hopefully we only keep 2 QBs and have that valuable roster spot for another group. I'm still excited about Corral long term. But this is Baker's team in terms of QB. If he doesn't perform, there's no one else going to save this team
-
You may be right. But if I had to chose between keeping 3 QBs or just 2 QBs and IRing Corral for the roster spot I would chose that. Rhule is not going to only keep Mayfield and Corral. And if we keep 2 I don't see a lot of difference between Darnold or Walker. IMO, if Baker doesn't play well, this season is a bust regardless. I still think there are good things about Corral that can be developed, and he hasn't been out there with a lot of guys that will be on NFL rosters, but his performances in these games don't look like a guy who will be ready to contribute in year 1.
-
In the overall interest of the team, might be best to IR him and save the roster spot. You see the talent on some of his throws, but he needs time developing before he would be anywhere ready to come in a live game.
-
I seriously won't be surprised if Corral is put on IR if they can in anyway justify it. but I still think PJ stands a good chance to get cut. I don't think we can unload Darnold for anything, so why not just keep 2 QBs. The extra spot could be much better used elsewhere, and I think a redshirt season for Corral would be good. If Baker doesn't revert to 2020 form, then we're not a playoff team and we might as well reset at QB again going into next year with just Corral under contract
-
Yep
-
I'll give credit to Rhule for developing Ricci. He is looking like a decent H-Back/FB. But Sullivan shouldn't be on a NFL roster. Got to upgrade there
-
Engram is begging to come home. Literally on social media. Sullivan has to go
-
Sounds like the Bozeman injury isn't season threatening or anything, but it's still not a good sign for an offensive Interior which has given us zero confidence the last couple of years. To me, Ekwonu, Christensen, Bozeman, Corbett, and Moton are the right choice, injuries nothing. I am disappointed Bozeman has not shown anymore separation from Elflein thus far, but I still think Bozeman has to be the better choice. It's certainly not all doom and gloom, and I think the overall quality of the Oline will be much improved this year- unfortunately when you're starting at 31st that's not necessarily an indication of great things.
-
We're all over it. I'm cool with Darnold as the backup or getting rid of him. Whatever. This season hinges on Baker, seriously. Give him a chance to cook. If he fails, it's on to Corral and/or 2023 anyway.
-
Baker should be announced as QB1 before tomorrow's practice... I'm actually excited about what this team can be. Time to get the starters the reps together they need
-
Nixon showed great flashes before he got hurt. I'm not worried bc I think there is still a great chance we will add another DE and/or DT at some point. Coaches want to get a good look at the young guys during TC before making a move. It could be as late as after Week 1 before a move is made too bc then the team is not on the hook for a whole seasons salary if it doesn't pan out.
-
Taylor and Hartsfield are solid players too. Rhule/Fitterer have done a remarkable job building up the CB group. This is the kind of CB talent and depth we need to face a modern NFL offense
-
It's almost impossible to believe considering how thin we've been at CB for most of the past 10+ years, but this group may have the most long term potential (considering they are all young) in many, many years
-
He also has about twice as many TDs. Keep it in perspective
-
IMO a lot of the defensive issues can be mitigated by having an offense that can actually pull their weight and not keep them on the field so much. I think that had a lot to do with them breaking down both physically and mentally as the season progressed. Not saying there wasn't some regression, but I think 75% of it was due to the complete lack of complementary football from our offense and to a lesser extent special teams
-
Absolutely, unequivocally, no. He's the most talented receiver we've had in a long time.
