Rhule blames the D when asked about offensive struggles
Mage replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Honestly, I'm watching this press conference and Rhule was VERY transparent throughout. I don't know how people can possibly compare this to Rivera. Rhule is pretty direct in saying the coaches and players were bad yesterday. And that the offensive line sucks. Like he's not simply saying "it is what it is" and whatnot. He has owned everything. -

Such a terrible thread title. Literally in the first 2 minutes of the video, the first player Rhule openly criticizes is Sam Darnold. Saying he was out of whack from the get go. -
We are going to get clapped

Actually, the Minnesota game in 2016 is close. Cam got sacked 8 times in that one. And of course the Super Bowl. Still, I don't think either of those were as bad as that night in Philly.

Eye test tells me that line was worse. Let's not forget the Thursday Night Massacre in Philadelphia in 2014. There has never, ever been a single game performance by the OL worse than that one, at least in Panthers history. I still can't believe that team rallied and made the playoffs. Newton before the last two garbage time drives had 0 TDs, 3 INTs, probably around 180-200 yards, and had been sacked 9 times. And probably hit on every single snap. A running game with Stew and Williams could barely do anything. The OL has been horrible, but hasn't had a "signature" game like that yet. But if any unit could do it, its them.

The only offensive line in Panthers history that I can remember being worse, is 2014. Isn't that crazy though? For as bad as this OL is, I STILL don't think it is half as bad as the one that year. At least until Norwell and Turner started later in the season. The line the majority of the season IIRC Byron Bell Amini Silatolu Ryan Kalil Fernando Velasco Nate Chandler Now the question is does this team have any Norwell/Turner's they can insert into the line-up late in the season? I'd say our only hope is Deonte Brown. Play Moton/Brady at the tackles spot, hope Brown works out at guard, allows us to move Erving to the other guard position. That leaves Paradis but not much we can do about that.

I think you might be overrating the Jags a little. That team got steamrolled by the Texans. They might shatter the consecutive losses record.

It's funny how easy it is to notice the posters on this site who weren't posting during the 3-game win streak, who have now coincidentally started posting again after the Eagles game.

We're a 3-2 team with an elite defense missing 3 starters (4 if you count Horn, but I'm counting Gilmore in his place) and an inconsistent offense that needs its All-Pro RB. Is it great? No. But it is Year 2 of a rebuild. Yeah it sucks we lost, yeah it sucks we are realizing we probably aren't as far along as we thought we were... but we are still WAY further along than most teams manage to get in our position given how this team looked at the time Rhule signed on to be HC. We'll be fine.

Even if we wanted to move on from Darnold, the only alternatives next year will be to try and trade a truckload for Wilson, Rodgers, or Watson. And I doubt the Seahawks or Green Bay would let either of those QBs stay in-conference. If you want to draft a QB, good luck. But it isn't a good class.

My biggest takeaway from the last 2 weeks
Mage replied to Second_Solution's topic in Carolina Panthers
He's good when it comes to analyzing the game, but tbh I found him really boring to listen to. That is what makes Tony Romo so good. He can analyze the game with the best of them, but he does it with enthusiasm that makes it really easy to listen to. Which is how it should be done. Being a good announcer isn't all about being knowledgable. Its about being entertaining, and Olsen is going to have to get a lot better in that regard. He's better than some other guys in the Fox line-up though. -
The defense was amazing. Let's not take away from the defense because the offense was crap for 4 quarters. They only fell apart because they kept getting put back on the field.
