  1. It's definitely scenario driven, but I agree pick 3 or 5 are the ideal targets and would be a tad less value wise. It's hard to believe CHI stays put not having their 2nd rounder and needing both DL & playmakers for Fields. Eferblus needs to show some improvement year 2. He needs players. Question is--is it a HOU swap or Indy trade? We should hope it's the HOU swap. With that: 1 HOU - Young/Stroud/Levis 2 CHI - Anderson/Carter 3 AZ is the first trade target to leap Indy, if we can't manage, then if the guy we like is still on the board at 5, we simply call SEA 4 IND - Young/Stroud/Levis 5 SEA -- You call them if we can't figure it out with AZ and the QB we like is there.
  2. Fields has a big issue in the pocket he has still yet to fully correct. When he needs to ditch his first read, there is a visible delay in his next look. And it's long enough that you see that he's still deciding to run or throw to the next read, giving the DL an extra half second to get to him. Big reason for his sack numbers beyond CHI's OL. I think that's what other GMs saw to. He seems smart though and has acclimated to the NFL playbook & overall in-game speed, but it's that processing time (not processing in itself) that is a big knock IMO. Regarding OSU's offense: Day has described his offense as an adjustable one. Will never forget Fitzmagic on PMT (I think) earlier this year, and he described the OSU system and other college ones perfectly. It's not gimmicky, it is simply tailored to the signal caller more than the signal caller is installed within it. Because of that, QBs in college don't learn how to create and throw to the open receivers. They're not throwing guys open and creating plays, they're not learning proper risk/reward as a passer. You gotta push it, even at the risk of your stat sheet and TD:INT ratio. Too many of these QBs care about their numbers and play it safe. Stroud seemed to be on the more safe side during the early season, but was pushed to do the latter and proved he could indeed create. DId it in 2021 and 2022, it wasn't just the UGA game and his future star receivers. He also has really sound mechanics, and was committed as a passer. It's not that he can't run but he committed to becoming a great passer first. I appreciate that a ton. And he's got legs to use, and you know, they don't have a ton of mileage on them either. Stroud has so much to like IMO.
  3. Gene Steratore confirmed on Pat McAfee that he would've called 2 holds on the Chiefs on that final play. By textbook, hould've been offsetting. Also admitted the Hilton PI was not warranted. That game should've gone to OT. Damn shame. One thing is for sure--that crew is relegated to Panthers games next year lol.
  4. The way I look at it, you just can't bank on this kid but you definitely give him a good hard look this summer. He's on contract so see what you've got. Elsewhere, Darnold has as much experience in our TBD offense as anyone available and the FA is a bit average at best. Especially when you look past the guys I can't imagine coming here (Geno-SEA return, D Jones-NYG return, Baker, Teddy, and probably Sam) It's pretty much Jimmy G, Heinecke, Brissett, Mike White, Dalton by process of elimination. Unless you really think we're going after Jackson, Rodgers, or Brady, which I just highly highly doubt. It's just gotta be a draft trade-up QB any which way you look at it. It's like our only option with what's out there. And honestly, draft 2 QBs. You never know who clicks. 1-Stroud A Late Rounder-Haener/Tune/O'Connell And looking at the FA crop, I'm going to be a different here; but it's what I want and think could work: 2023 QB Room: CJ Stroud, Taylor Heinicke Jake Haener/Matt Corral/Jacob Eason battle it out for QB3
  5. Jacob Eason was pick 122 in his draft, and Corral 94. Just a year apart, and Eason was drafted by, you guessed it, Frank Reich. Tighter mechanics, better arm, more traditional, so not the mold he speaks to, but I think there's a fair shot Eason ends up ahead of Corral come preseason. I'm not dissing Corral but he's closer to the PS than the active-53 at this point.
  6. Having lived in Cali in recent years, I also think it's a pretty crap city. The best spots are across the bridge by Sausalito or far south outside town. The actual city has really dipped in quality. Even the trendy/cool neighborhoods for older millennial couples/young fams. This is coming from a City Planner Oakland is even looking better with the amount of improvements going on. San Fran has just had such a disappointing trajectory after being a standard bearer in many ways in the early 00s. Same goes for Portland. East coast & some of the resurgent midwest cities are what's up.
  7. The Cardinals are becoming a big old question mark. Apaprently they're resetting and requesting an interview with Lou Anarumo
  8. Chiefs went and got him. Buffalo went and got him. Baltimore went and got him. Cinci was #1 and took him their guy. Same with JAX. Hell, PHI and SF went and got their guy that didn't even work out, so lost the picks to a bust, and still made it as far as they did the past few years. So it comes to show even losing the future drfat capital isn't always some huge setback. If they found a QB, I honestly don't mind giving away what could be a mid or late 1st rounder in 2024. You'll likely be doing the same thing next year with your 2025 pick if you like Caleb/Maye/Ward/Penix/JJ. If Stroud or Young is the guy, sure. Do what you need to.
  9. Campen's Zone/Power Hybrid that he ran in GB shows well in that respect. He knows every scheme and how to blend them. He coached up two of my fave OL prospects in the past decade in Bitonio and Bakthiari so I think we've got a lot to really like with the approach. This bodes really well for Brady & Icky.
  10. You could see how he was good at diving into details without giving away the meat and potatoes. Different responses, with varying depth, and if anything, I am 100% reassured we're finally going to have a 3,800+ yard, 20 td+ passer again, and soon.
  11. I love that he knows NFL nuances and vernacular like it's a language in itself. Our fundamentals and discipline is gonna get a lot better. He just knows how to navigate pro-football. You can tell when compared to Rhule. He just knows it like clockwork.
  12. I wanna thank that dude for his two questions on offense & lessons learned. That got a good response. Balanced Offense that can run & get chunk plays. Can have the long drives but get big plays quickly when needed. And his confidence in getting a passing game going was reassuring. He knows what he's doing with the passing game.
  13. It will definitely feel like he's more in control of the moment and not this awe struck youngling or out of element college guy. I think we'll definitely sense why Tepper/Fitt/Dan went in this direction in thinking about it in that regard. He garners respect, people like playing for him and coaching with him.
  14. At a minimum, this type of thing is just good to gauge the general feel and direction of things. I imagine we'll get more into his vision, some big picture stuff beyond that short interview he had. Expect to hear a lot of generalities and to players we already have, but I'm excited to see what other takeaways come from it. If he came to his interview as prepared as it sounded, he could have a pretty strong plan in place. Would love to hear what he sold to Tepper and what we should expect. Also--He's quite a different dude than Ron & Matt so it's going to be a different feel than we're used to from the HC.
  15. Big Nazareth fan by the sounds of it ha Bond & Mission Impossible fan as well.
  16. Hey Folks. Before the bot swoops in, heads up! https://www.panthers.com/news/head-coach-frank-reich-will-hold-introductory-press-conference-on-tuesday Hopefully our god awful local reporters ask him some questions regarding how he's going to build out his staff. What I'd like to see: Him describe the offensive vision Type of players he wants to bring in Playcalling -- is it dependent on the hire? Will he take the reigns? What's everyone hoping to hear?
  17. Yep, it takes finding the passing lanes with good arc & velocity. Brees did it tremendously well. Bryce shows a lot of freaking talent in this department. Just really navigates smoothly and finds the lane. He threw over the line between the hash really well and I didn't see much issue. He's been able to stay in the pocket and find guys in the middle which is the biggest concern that emerges from the size discussion aside from injury potential, which I think is overblown. Everyone playing is at risk of an injury. Biggest to the smallest, and I don't see reason to think he's not durable. He's taken good licks over the years.
  18. I'm happy we didn't reach on a QB from 2006-2009 to eventually replace Jake. There were very few good ones to come out of those drafts and none that we could've even drafted in R1-2. Flacco would be an exception but he was taken a pick before us. Also don't like the narrative that Clausen led us to Cam. That was more on Matt Moore pulling a Kevin Kolb/Kyle Allen and teasing us he was our future, then flopping terribly. That saved us from a lot of pain and heartache, and truly led us from the end of Delhomme to Cam. No "bridge" required. A popular opinion: I still can't believe we didn't draft a QB high with Rhule. It is still mind boggling how poorly he did at trying to build an NFL team.
  19. Truly unpopular? Rasul Douglas should have had a 3-4 year extension/new contract. WIth all the complaining about contracts for our D, he would've solidified the outside and we could've gotten way more aggressive with QB. Would have been easy to let Jackson go. Totally change the current build.
