  1. Any team that is in position to tank the season is likely years away from competing anyway. So by the time they got good nobody would accuse them of tanking by then. Any team that tanks the last game or couple games just has to not make it ultra obvious. Like you said the made it to the Super Bowl last year and on paper they look even better this year. If they win the Super Bowl this year does tanking a couple of years ago get some credit for helping them? Or is it so far gone since they tanked we don’t count it? And again for those who don’t believe the Eagles tanked… they benched a million starters and pulled Jalen Hurts out of the game in the middle of a quarter down just 3 points to “see what we had in 4th string QB Nate Sudfeld” or whatever his name was. Could you imagine pulling Bryce while we are down just three points, to see what MC2 has?
  2. The article linked at the beginning of the thread.
  3. I’ll agree with that. However, I don’t think Caleb Williams performs at the level he does without being a killer in the film room, too. If he’s dominated this much, and played at such an elite level without a film centric work ethic the NFL team that gets him is going to unlock something absolutely monstrous. He’s got better completion percent, better air yards per throw, a better TD to INT ratio, better rating than Bryce and then when you factor in what he does with his legs… if he doesn’t fall off this year the hype for him next year is likely going to eclipse the Lawrence hype and Burrow hype for top pick.
  4. I think the best QB in college has been Caleb Williams. I like Bryce. I think he has potential. But everyone keeps talking as if he is the smartest player in the league. I think we might be setting the kid up for a bit of false expectations.
  5. The hype for this kid is getting unreal. Like above Burrow level.
  6. Players won’t tank. Coaches and GMs? Owners? Hard to say.
  7. The league isn’t going to want to admit that the eagles tanked to end their season. It doesn’t want to admit ANY team ever tanks. I’m not making a stance advocating for tanking. I’m pointing out tanking happens and while it might not have helped the eagles, it doesn’t really hurt them either. They’ve been able to still sign free agents to come in, even Kelce who was furious with the team for tanking that game, stayed with the team. I don’t want to argue for or against tanking. I just want folks to stop holding their hands over their eyes trying to pretend there hasn’t been forms of tanking in the NFL before, even recently.
  8. That depends on the line. He got sacked a ton his second season in college.
  9. Bro… the eagles did this just a couple of years ago and their coach got fired with no lawsuit coming. Benching Jalen for their third string QB in the finale and pulling starters during the game. They went to the Super Bowl this past year. There was no long term lingering effect for doing it. players typically claim stuff like this would make them never play for an organization but guess what? Players sign there anyways because of $$$ and due to the salary cap not all the best run teams can afford the best players. Poor organizations like the Browns haven’t had trouble signing free agents. Guys usually just go to the highest bidder. But I’d you’re trying to be dramatic saying teams are telling the players they are tanking that’s not how it’s being done.
  10. It worked out for the Eagles and the Jags. Eagles tanked, the Jags have their coach now and went to the playoffs with him. Eagles new coach lead the team to a Super Bowl run. Indy is TBD but they are becoming a poorly run organization that elite QB play can’t cover up anymore.
  11. Yeah my man said there’s teams that have bad cultures and are worried about player evaluation and draft positioning… sounds like tanking without using the word. I don’t have an issue with folks saying they don’t want their team to tank. You always want to win. I approach every week with a “I want to win” attitude during the season. However, after we would lose games I flip the perspective to draft stock to get a QB so I had a reason to be happy rather than mad after each week. However, for folks ( and not you who I’m quoting ) who want to pretend teams don’t make decisions to rest “injured” players, to swap out QB to “evaluate them” or hiring a coach mid season who has never coached at any level… tanking definitely happens in the NFL.
  12. But the point is it happens. It happened in Philly and it happened in Indy. It’s definitely happened in the past as well but some organizations try to cover it up better.
  13. I agree. It worked out for both organizations. I was just pointing that recent example out for those claiming tanking never happens. And without needing to say it the Colts did it by hiring a coach who has never coached at any level before… They were clearly just hoping to remain in the running for a top pick.
  14. Didn’t the Eagles do just that a couple years ago? Bench some of their starters in the final week to see what their other players had?
  15. 49ers 3-3 without CMC. 10-1 with him in the regular season. With losses to Denver, Atlanta and Chicago during that 3-3 stretch. Piss poor coaching in Carolina wasted CMC.
  16. Glad you’re doing alright my brother
  17. Worked out great for the Bears. But the difference is, here I believe that’s just coach speak / organization speak. Bryce should not split a single rep with any other QB on the roster.
  18. I think he’ll find a way to start the season around 195 but not sure how long he’ll maintain that once the season starts.
  19. Folks like you feel the need to disparage others for having a different opinion for some reason. “Teaching these youngsters”, I am 36 and I’ve been around here for a long time. Theres no need for silly shots like this or attempts to insult my intelligence. You are aware winning a Heisman trophy does not correlate to success in the NFL right? The Golden Calf of Bristol won one and almost won two. How’s Winston doing? Manziel? I also guess you missed the quote in this interview where they said they were sure he WOULD bulk up.
  20. You think Mac Jones and Tua weren’t studying film and throwing? There might be a pattern here with Alabama QBs not doing much in the weight room and then getting banged up on the pros. Both Tua and Mac have missed time in the NFL due to injuries. And while I’m not sure about Montana we know Brady put in work in the weight room and so has Mahomes.
  21. There lies the issue I have: he had world class facilities and coaches and trainers at Bama and never bulked up, then played games with his weight around his pro day. I see folks more concerned over his weight than his height but almost every article pounds the issue of his height over and over.
  22. Brother… I watched him play. I probably watch more college ball than most folks here.
