  1. So who was evaluating? They have a different team for the first round? Crazy how lopsided it is. (I mean, Hurney was a sports writer before the NFL not a scout).
  2. Well seeing as we aren’t yet in a race for the playoffs if it takes another week, it takes another week. He has been out more games than I expected. That situation was some fuged up timing if you believe the official timeline. I don’t know what to think about that.
  3. I do remember that now that you mentioned it I saw an interview with him at the time and I think it’s mentioned here on the board somewhere. I was impressed. [He was considered a leading guy in that company, a scouting think tank/consultant type of thing. I remember the ex GM of the Falcons I think was involved. And Tampa Bay. Dimitrof?]
  4. Yeah that was something. In my youth a QB that couldn’t make it as a QB in the NFL and was going to try WR went a bit later. Now that you mention him though what would he look like at QB of the Panthers today? Makes me think.
  5. Hurney really relied on his scouts I think. Video wasn’t just pick up your phone or iPad and have it all right there. He lost me with the trade up I think it was Everette Brown which didn’t impress me but the killer was he gave a future 1st. I frown on that shut.
  6. Hey, I think we need to get into the rule book influence business. The receivers are so bad that maybe we could sneak a rule in so Bryce could walk down to where they are and hand it to them so they wouldn’t miss it.
  7. Tepper was the real #1. But Fit acting as #1 Dan #2, #2s don’t make that kind of call. I mean, IMO.
  8. Yeah I agree with that.and remember the pre draft process. Reich Might talk after he is fully paid and Bryce is out of the league but I doubt it. Dan Morgan would have to look me in the eye and say yes I bought into Bryce for mw to believe he was all in. And only if Bryce wasn’t standing there with us.
  9. Ah, he is a deep ball master, it has to be the WRs’ fault. We need to get him better help.
  10. Id you thought it was clear from last year, and you now see that maybe it isn’t, why would you make the same assumption just because finishes the same as 2024? Wouldn’t that be not learning from the first mistake? I don’t see a thing negative about year four being a contract year. We do it with players all the time. Prove it deal. Dowdle this year.
  11. You are right about us derailing it. One last thing about separating Morgan the player etx part of that foe me is I just never believed for a minute that a guy played against QBs like Manning and Brady and all the guys in the ‘00s would buy a 5’10” 185 soaking wet qb with a below NFL average arm and throws from his tippy toes would be be a guy you took at 1.1. Just cannot buy into it. And If you took the gig as GM, your dream gig, and that was the QB would you not take the job or would you maybe see if you could navigate it until you might be in a position to get the qb thing reset so you could make it into what you want it to be? Done- now I will return to praising the rookies.
  12. Unless you believe that the man that hired and pays him placed conditions on it. which I would buy 10 of before so bought one of Dan, a veteran of the NFL and high level player in his day, is blind.
  13. I am just saying that there are realistic alternatives to the Dan is totally Fitterer in all his opinions and incapable of his own mind. Because we don’t know what really happened. And your job is to support your boss even if you aren’t 100% in agreement. And further you do not publicly dissent. Publicly meaning when more than just the two of you are around. ISO believe he is doing Tepper’s bidding on a lot of things and I believe it was very likely as a new hire, in 2024. If I were to speculate further I would think that Canales has a big say in the offensive evaluations and Dan might not feel like he should be flatly overruling him since he is not an offensive guy. Any differences of opinion, if Canales feels strongly about an evaluation or decision Dan would be more likely to go with Dave than to overrule. But can’t claim to know anything with any certainty. I do think Dan showed us some solid work in this draft. I also am WTF no QB competition. But I know we agree that it wouldn’t take much to show Bruce up and it seems like they were avoiding that. In the big picture of the developmental arc they may have decided on, maybe that was okay for year two. It will absolutely not be okay for next year. And Canales has brought Hookernin so that is a small move in the direction we wanted them to go.
  14. I think there is room for other interpretations of the inner working of the DM SF bromance. Yourself, being a man of character, work for your best friend. You might be close enough to speak your true opinion without repercussion. Stay with me. Dan was really good NFL MLB. How do you think a guy that played against Brady, Farvre, people like that, would view going against a 5’10” noodle arm that wasn’t a human joystick? I know I what I think about that. So he say to best bud, I don’t know about this. Looks risky. Best Bud says, your opinion is noted. What about that DT we are looking at? Dan was a defensive guy. Now I will stretch it further but I don’t need to. Fit says the Tepper’s are in love with the guy what do you want me to do? That isn’t even necessary it may be that Fit loved him too. There are multiple things that an open minded person might view as realistic scenarios. Just sayin. As far as the offensive overeating at the buffet, I really believe that was an edict from the boss: “do not let him fail. Know what I’m sayin?”.
  15. Fair enough. I am convinced with Tet and Scourton surely looks the part. A couple more pan out it will be a great draft.
  16. Good lord. Bryce is high school Brees. He never grew to be NFL Brees. Never will, and isn’t close.
  17. I have a feeling it will be bittersweet, expecting how that game goes. I haven’t watched any Cowboys football this year. So I am not making a claim specifically on them…. The defensive rankings suggest they are tough against the run and the pass D is the weakness but stats based on yardage can be very misleading. Without looking at their games and results, things like making opposing offenses one dimensional via the scoreboard affect those stats.
  18. Sure. Eggs are still on the menu. This class looks good though, overall. Granted we have a low floor for making the field so ‘grain of salt’ applies but it is higher this year. It will likely be higher next year.
  19. Yeah. I think they are working towards much improved. The ILBs though, are gonna hold it back. I am not saying Much Improved means top defense. Instead of having 7 or 8 weak links, we may be down to 3 or 4 obvious laggards.
  20. I thought with Mayfield and Darnold having that mega shootout the winner of that would win it. Rico is deserving as hell, and I know he will give the OL their due for letting him get loose.
  21. I like Baldinger. That was a wow video right there.
  22. That stuff sets me off too because it is so disingenuous and lazy. Horrible take that was pasted all over this place in 2023. Someone accused me of misinformation last week, about Bryce. I guess saying his arm and footwork were what they are. But the Bryce is Brees stuff, now THAT is misinformation. The only valid parallel I can see is they had problems with inside pressure and needed the interior beefed up. PS, you are right about the people he threw to. He made basketball guys into stars.
  23. Well it used to be a TE, or was he the leading receiver. As long as we get the production from somewhere (such as it is); this QB will use the hell out of a RB if the RB can be used. As a secondary comment, I always though that was really what the Brooks pick was about. He was supposed to be ready for camp IIRC. Not endorsing the decision, just diagnosing it btw.
