  1. When you're recovering from a foot injury you're not going to be immediately in football game shape no matter how young and talented you are. His dad played over a decade in the league. He's seen these situations before. He's gonna be in Jaycee's ear on how to handle this. He's not gonna let his son put himself in danger of injury by going out there and playing before he should.
  2. I just don't see him recovering from this injury, getting himself back into football game shape, AND being a better option than other the other guys we've been adding who will have had the advantage of being fully in the swing of things. We'll see him in a uniform again in next year's training camp.
  3. Haven't read through the thread, but I have to wonder if someone is moving to FS? We're STACKED at CB now even with the injury to Horn but what we could really use is a true deep FS to free up Chinn to roam underneath.
  4. I'm not gonna sugarcoat this. I could literally not possibly care any less about what you think. And that you think this thread might have had any possibility of being created to get any credit from you or thode of your ilk is hilarious. It's just football conversation. I'm not seeking any validation from any "camp" on this forum and if my posting history is proof of anything, it's that.
  5. I've never understood the people who take their disdain for a player to a personal level. Even the Panthers I've drug through the mud like Jimmy Clausen, Armanti Edwards, Byron Bell, Amini Silatolu, etc. I never heard anything about them indicating they didn't work hard and do everything the coaches asked of them. That's all a player can do. If he still fails then it's not his fault. It's an evaluation issue, a development issue, or a utilization issue at that point and that's on the staff and/or front office. The only time I hold it against the player is when it's clear that it's his fault. Take Kelvin Benjamin. He showed on the field that he had the ability to develop into a big time NFL WR, but the guy constantly showed up to camp out of shape and then blamed everyone under the sun for every issue he's ever faced on the way out the door. His failure is on him.
  6. I have my opinions and I'm not afraid to share them, but I'm always happy to be wrong if it works out to the benefit of the Panthers.
  7. We're pretty far down the waiver wire. I hope we make a claim though.
  8. There were posters here who didn't want Zach Wilson because his appearance reminded them of Jimmy Clausen. I'm serious.
  9. The thing you don't understand is I am too. I like to talk football. If you want to just be in an echo chamber of nothing but positivity, there's an ignore feature.
  10. Yep. Darnold has far exceeded my expectations so far and he's been very good under pressure. But God forbid I mention that he has two glaring opportunities for improvement and suggest that I think he can fix them. LOL!
  11. If you read this thread and only see me complaining about Darnold then you have some severe selective reading habits.
  12. Yeah, we should stop discussing how we could improve. Let's just be happy with being the mediocre franchise we've always been and hang out hats on those handful of years when we fielded a good team that didn't quite make it all the way to the checkered flag. Some of y'all really can't understand that I'm happy to be wrong when it benefits the Panthers. I'm just a guy who loves talking football, doesn't mind formulating and sharing an opinion, and isn't afraid to be wrong. Sorry I'm not sorry that it makes you mad.
  13. This feels like it's headed toward an Al Davis/Lane Kiffen style "fired with cause" type situation.
  14. Nah, you just wanted to act like I was being entirely negative toward Darnold when this thread is anything but that. It's okay. No player is perfect. No team is perfect. Critique is okay. Praise is okay. There just has to be some balance of the two or this place becomes an echo chamber.
  15. If you took my comments in this thread as "backhanded compliments" then you're just beyond hardheaded. Sam has far exceeded my expectations but there are two IMO obvious areas for improvement. I guess being a "believer" means only glowing praise all the time, nothing else can be accepted. We already dealt with a very annoying group of posters who did that with Cam. I really hope it doesn't happen with Darnold and honestly, the fans that followed Darnold here aren't among that very small group. It's long-term posters. It's just weird. We're all desperate for a new legit entrenched franchise QB, but don't go over the cliff with it.
  16. LOL! That's exactly what I'm doing with this thread. You just refuse to accept it.
  17. LOL! You gotta check your own confirmation bias sometimes.
  18. Darnold is tied for 5th in the NFL in combined TDs. I have no issue with that. I fully expect his rushing TDs to come back to Earth as defenses account for the threat, but that should also open up opportunities. Our redzone offense isn't as bad as some of y'all are making it out to be and it's trending upward. We're 15th in redzone TD% on the year and 9th over the last three games. We were 100% yesterday.
  19. Did you actually read or just knee jerk react to a thread title? Because I don't think you actually read.
  20. Well, I did NOT see this game being a defensive slugfest. I still feel like an offensive explosion is imminent.
  21. Better go tell guys like Smitty and the Honey Badger they're just too small to play NFL football.
  22. Let's trade for Hunter Renfrow and play him at FS. I'm only partially joking.
  23. He gave up the only TD so far. He's decent against the run. You just have to force him onto an island in coverage. If you do, you can feast.
  24. LOL @ the NFL being so desperate to get back into the L.A. market. The Chargers are a very promising team with one of the league's beat young QBs and here they are experiencing a road game environment at home. L.A. doesn't give a fug about the NFL.
