I can see it now. We go 7-10 or 8-9 and Rhule is retained showing improvement. The process is working! 1000%

I know the relationship between pressure and desperate decisions. Desperate decisions rarely work out. Tepper should've put on his big boy pants and owned up to his mistake and fired Rhule. Instead we're basically going into Fox's lame duck season 2.0 except the coach has the full power to tank the future of the franchise trying to save his job. Folks, it's ugly and it's likely to get uglier before it has the chance to get better.

Mitch signed with Buffalo because he wanted a stable situation to regroup. I highly doubt he's going to jump right back into another full blown poo show.

Draft day scenario - Could trading Burns be an option?
LinvilleGorge replied to SmokinwithWilly's topic in Carolina Panthers
I've been predicting a move for Jimmy G for months if we go the vet route again. I'll honestly he pretty surprised if our QB isn't either Jimmy G or Kenny Pickett... and that's fuging horrifying. -
Draft day scenario - Could trading Burns be an option?

They certainly sent a message when they picked up Darnold's option and jumped on overpaid bad OL at the opening bell of free agency. Unfortunately, it wasn't the message they intended. The message: -

When people ask "why did Pickett suddenly boom in his fifth season?" I always point out that it's probably because he's the same age as the average 2nd or 3rd year NFL player. He was a literal man among boys. -
Riot: Panthers to take a major swing at QB?
LinvilleGorge replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
In Rhule's mind, the only thing a QB like Jimmy G or Teddy or Darnold is missing is his brilliant coaching and tutelage. Oh, Teddy and Sam? Rhule was just wrong about those particular guys. The process is still working. 1000% Actually, in retrospect Rhule would almost certainly blame Teddy on Joe Brady while Sam was a "group decision". Shirking any and all blame is what Matt Rhule does best. -

Please Ron, help us. Go get Jimmy G and save us from ourselves! -

Potential head coaches with other suitors also know that. That's my concern right now. Rhule is going to leave us so gutted that anyone with other options is going to choose another option. You're basically dooming yourself to failure taking a job coaching a bad team saddled with limited roster building capital. -

He's going to keep swinging (and striking out) until he gets fired. -

We've been trying. We would've traded for Watson already if he'd sign off on it. We went hard after Stafford. We'll probably go hard after Watson again (and be told no again). We'll inquire about Rodgers and Wilson only to get laughed at. Then we'll trade for Jimmy G.- 113 replies

How short a leash will Rhule have next season?
LinvilleGorge replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think Tepper is just embarrassed about it at this point and fears he'll fug up just as bad next time so he's just going to stay silent and hide. I hope his kickball team does every bit as badly to further put the spotlight on his incompetent pro sports management. -

Agreed on the value of rookie contracts but our cap situation will be fine if we stop throwing money away on terrible QBs and terrible FA OL. -

Who may or may not turn out to be any good. Keep in mind, Brian Burns and Kenny Pickett are basically the same age. DJ Moore is younger than Pickett. -
Everyone wants Rhule gone but, what if
LinvilleGorge replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is reminiscent of the "hope" last year that Darnold's issues were all due to Adam Gase and the Jets. We were getting a steal on a franchise QB and he'd go downfield and put the ball in the endzone unlike Teddy. How's that working out? -
This. The frustrating part is that Tepper knows this. He said coming in the door that this is a .500 league and to break out of that you need three pieces - a coach, a GM, and a QB. Everything else is a want. Those are the three that you NEED. Yet he still hired Matt Rhule who had always won with good defense and "good enough" offense. He's sat on his ass while Rhule has spent most of his roster building capital on defense. He's watched Rhule overspend on shitty QBs. But he's hanging onto him because it's all going to work out when we draft a QB who is a former Rhule recruit and who went to Tepper's alma mater. It's all of these reasons and more why my hope for and interest in this team is at an all-time low. There are just no signs that this crew knows how to win in the NFL.
