  1. I'm accustomed to our place as the NFL's farm team. Anyone worthwhile gets plucked by a better organization.
  2. Yep. Blaming Rhule completely on Hurney was always just passing the buck. You don't give a guy $70M and full control unless you're sold head over heels.
  3. This is where I'm at. I'm sold on his physical talent. I'm not sold on him actually being a QB. I'm definitely NOT sold on our staff being able to develop him.
  4. I was saying down the stretch that Fitts absolutely needs to go along with Rhule. No GM willing to take a job baby sitting a college coach who has final say on all football matters is simply not a GM worth having. Hell, it's not a GM at all. The guy doesn't even negotiate contracts. He's just the head scout with a GM title.
  5. How can anyone be surprised? We've made the dumbest decision possible repeatedly ever since Rhule was hired. This makes perfect sense. Tepper let this man utterly destroy this franchise on two years and now he's keeping him onboard to ensure the recovery is as long and painful as possible.
  6. I absolutely RAILED against the Funchess pick. Big guy who played small and soft. He added nothing to a WR corps that already had KB. Well, to be fair, he really didn't add anything to any NFL WR corps period.
  7. Damn... Cam could really sling it back in the day. And yes, KB could've been great.
  8. Decent at everything, great at nothing. He looks good when there's a clean hole to hit. He's going to reliably get you what's there but he's also going to reliably create very little beyond that. He can be an NFL player but he may need to also add ST ability to make it.
  9. Ty Chandler is a late round pick/priority UDFA type. Good college RB but one of those decent at everything great at nothing types who isn't going to do anything that wows NFL scouts, either in drills or on film. He's probably going to have to make it in the NFL as a core special teamer/#3 RB.
  10. There is a MASSIVE gulf between "the next Steve Smith" and having no NFL future.
  11. Nah, I'm thinking 6-7 wins with Willis riding the pine. Willis is almost ready now. He'll get us over the hump. It's vital I come back for a 4th year. You don't want to potentially damage Malik's development by making him endure a coaching change bringing in a completely different system. That's how you get a 4th year of Matt Rhule with no actual signs of progress.
  12. The only issue I have with the Niners' move is that they went ALL IN. That was a huge trade. If Lance doesn't pan out they've really hamstrung themselves going forward. With that said, with their overall roster and a proven coach, they're in a much better situation to potentially lure in a top tier vet vs. a complete poo show of a team chasing top tier vets while getting laughed at.
  13. He can't turn the thinking switch off. You gotta be able to go into autopilot and trust your instincts (and those instincts have to actually be good). It's why if I'm drafting a QB this year I'm taking Sam Howell. We've seen him play with NFL caliber weapons and we've seen him play behind a terrible OL and with very limited weapons. There's way less questions about his mental makeup on the field than there are most QB prospects. We've seen him in a variety of situations and he's found ways to produce and make his team competitive in all of them.
  14. He lacks QB instincts. Once that ball is snapped, you have to be running on instinct. If you're thinking you're going to be too slow. Darnold is quite obviously thinking out there and that's why it all happens too slowly for him. He looks good when his first read is open because then he can operate without thinking. It's not an intelligence thing, it's a how your mind works thing. You could be Elon Musk smart and still not have the right mentality to succeed at QB.
  15. I don't need stats to tell me we sucked ass and we got worse over the course of the season. The longer Rhule and company are here the worse we get. But hey, at least Tepper doesn't have to publicly admit his massive blunder yet.
  16. That too. Passing on Fields to then draft Willis would be pretty damn baffling. Similar physical talent prospects but Fields lacks the size concerns and was way more proven at the college level.
  17. The biggest thing that scares me about Willis (outside of his rawness and my concerns about our coaching staff not being able to properly develop him) is tht his presence probably almost gives Rhule a 4th year. You pretty much know you're drafting Willis not for next year but for the future. Playing him as a rookie probably isn't going to go well.
  18. Dude has been on a ROLL lately with this type of stuff.
  19. I love these posters who have it all figured out and make these wildly elaborate intertwining bold claims stated as if they're fact. Makes for good entertainment.
  20. With the money getting thrown around at the P5 college level the NFL is about to become a farm league for college coaches.
  21. Brady had the second fastest average time to throw in the league (behind only Big Ben). I seriously doubt a rookie is going to come anywhere close to replicating that.
  22. We're not moving another thread to the TB over this bullshit. See ya in 24 hours @Smittymoose. The next person that tries to TB this up gets a week.
  23. The problem with relying on guys like Brady or Manning for comps is that you're counting on a guy to have a Brady or Manning level football mind. Good luck with that.
