  1. That guy is such a disappointment. I was really happy when we drafted him. I thought he had the potential to be the best TE in that draft class. Then he showed promising potential as a rookie. It was all downhill from there. He's gotten worse every year since then. I don't know what the issue there is, but it's disappointing.
  2. Oh, it's definitely gonna be alright. We're Panthers fans. Not like we can't take sucking. LOL! Any fairweather fans are long gone at this point.
  3. Yeah, that's uh... that's not what I've been arguing.
  4. You definitely haven't seen Sam Darnold play, I take it?
  5. As much as I did NOT want Mac Jones if that was our guy I could've learned to live with that too. It's just that the bust rehab efforts have an abysmal track record. People want to hang their hopes on the Ryan Tannehills while overlooking the reality that Tannehill was FAR better in Miami than Darnold has ever shown any hope to be. Darnold would have to improve dramatically to get to Miami Tannehill levels.
  6. I have some hope. More than I had with Teddy. But it's definitely a long shot. I think Darnold has the physical talent and I never thought Teddy did. I just don't know that Darnold has it between the ears and I never thought he did. I called Darnold as a bust in the pre-draft process that year. Just never bought into him. Still don't. Hopefully he proves me wrong but if he doesn't I hope we cut bait on him as quickly as we did with Teddy I'm just not sure that'll happen without the GM change that went along with that last decision.
  7. It would no doubt assist on marketing efforts, but Tepper gas been vocal that the three key elements to a consistent winner are coach, GM, and QB. He saw the opportunity to get the QB. Rhule and Fitterer need to be right on this one. Of they aren't and they're losing their job security could go south in a hurry
  8. The rest of the list includes the long, long list of QBs who never worked out.
  9. I think it'd be hard to sell Rodgers on coming here. I bet the Niners wish Rodgers had brought this whole thing to a head well before they made that very aggressive trade up to #3 because that's where Rodgers really wanted to go and I'm sure they would've loved to have had him. They would've probably given GB that package for Rodgers instead of giving it to Miami for #3.
  10. Yeah, Tepper believed in him. Likely still does. But if Darnold flops and the guy Tepper wanted in Fields succeeds and we're Rhule has yet to out together a winning season after three years (two years from now)... well, at the least those meetings are gonna start to get awkward.
  11. Too early to say, but FS and C seem pretty safe bets. Then there's the will he or won't he question with Darnold much like Teddy last year.
  12. If we're still flailing after two years we might be "on to the next one" with the staff too. Moving on from Teddy quickly gives me hope that this staff can recognize their mistakes and move past them quickly, but you can only swing and miss at QB while putting up bad records for so long before you're deemed the problem.
  13. Was I? Tepper wanted him. That's what I said. What I was wrong about was that Tepper would give the staff the nudge they needed to get them over the hump to make the pick. Time will tell whether or not that was the right call.
  14. You're super emotional. That's okay, but your continued denial of it is hilarious. Everyone "called me out" on Teddy last year too. It'll be different here. Joe Brady's system. Weapons. CMC, Moore, Samuel. Teddy will take the next step. All sounding familiar? You're a fan so you desperately want Darnold to be successful. Hell, that's understandable. I'd love to be wrong. I hope Darnold is the SB MVP next year. History is just stacked heavily against this. So, I guess just keep being emotional and lashing out because it's funny.
  15. It's probably gonna be Burris and FS will be high on our shopping list next off-season. We weren't gonna solve all our issues in one off-season but I did expect some competition to be brought in at FS.
  16. I just get entertained by how you always put up a front of being this neutral fan but always get super emotional and combative when someone has a differing opinions.
  17. When you have to go back decades to find your examples and even those are a stretch... oh wee mayne. It's basically exactly my point. It's a long shot.
  18. Sigh... this is so very reminiscent of last year. Just substitute "Sam Darnold" for "Teddy Bridgewater".
  19. The defenses they faced weren't similar though. Back in those days, DBs could pretty much maul receivers.
  20. The first couple chapters have been. We're hoping for a serious plot twist.
  21. The majority of the QBs you listed played in an entirely different era of football that was far different than today's pass happy league. Yes, successful bust reclamation projects do happen. They're just rate. No, it's not unfair to call Darnold a bust. He absolutely was in NY. We're hoping he won't be in Carolina.
  22. We did. Like it or not, we came back with Cam Erving.
  23. It's not about just what I think. It's a reality that 1st round bust reclamation projects are rare. We're keenly aware of the success rate of 1st round QBs but we seem to be heavily downplaying the success rate of former busts (Darnold) and second rate vets (Teddy). We're trying to hit the jackpot on long shot bets.
  24. We'll see. Fields may turn out to be a JAG but that's the beauty of the rookie wage scale. It lets you take chances on elite talent without crippling your cap. I was all about taking Cam #1 overall in large part due to the new at the time rookie wage scale. Had we been facing paying him like Sam Bradford was paid as a rookie I would've been a LOT more hesitant.
