Yeah, I think it has a lot to do with the system. But still, it's a HUGE concern. This is why interviews are such a critical part of the evaluation process.

I mean, it's not out of the question. I just assume that if he was being released it would've been at the same time as our other house cleaning moves.
-
Maybe he's butthurt about Tre being released and/or he's sought clarification on his own situation and hasn't received any guarantees? I don't know, just spit balling.

Suppose CMC is part of the deal for Watson

I don't necessarily mean high, but a mid-late round RB would probably be expected -
Dolphins have interest in trading for Watson

All I'm saying is that the most valuable asset in the NFL is an elite QB on a rookie contract. If you think you have one, you're not trying to trade a lot of valuable assets for an elite QB on a big money contract. It would be a very clear sign IMO that the franchise that has the best knowledge on Tua has decided that he's not going to be the answer. It would be the Rosen situation all over but for different reasons. -

Which tells you they think Tua won't develop into that. If they thought he would, they'd be retaining those trade assets and Tua's rookie contract. -

Anytime a team is willing to move on from a player they drafted in the 1st round (let alone #5 overall) after one year, that's about as big of a "buyer beware" sign as you can get. -

I don't know about that. Physically, he looks like a shadow of his former self. I think that injury is still playing a very significant role in his play. -
Away from Belichick, Weis accomplished very little. He had the #4 ranked NFL offense in 1998 with the Jets, but his other two years as their OC they #22 and #25. After he got fired for tanking ND he had the #12 offense in KC. After coordinating the 105th ranked Florida Gators offense, Kansas evidently in the throes of an airplane glue huffing binge decided to hire him as their HC where he put the capstone on his career's achievements going 6-22 and 1-18 in conference over the course of three miserable seasons. Dude sucked.

Weis is a turd that was floated by Belichick. The difference between Brees and Jones in college is that Brees was playing at Purdue surrounded by run of the mill P5 D1 talent vs. Jones playing at Alabama where he's surrounded by a lot of guys who will be drafted before him. Purdue was a borderline top 25 team through the Brees years despite having a future 1st ballot HOF QB. In other words, that team pretty much sucked.

I think we'd be looking at RBs pretty hard in the upcoming draft. -

Or we could just stay the course and do what we've always done - hope to surprise with a good year a couple of times a decade. That's been going oh so well. -

The Jets and Dolphins having higher 1st round picks and multiple 1st round picks THIS year definitely gives them a huge advantage. -
Screw Squatson, Give Me Your Case for Wilson

I think there's a 90%+ chance that Watson ends up forcing a trade. I think there's a very slim chance Wilson does the same in Seattle. He's in a good organization, he just wants to see them out a little more focus on keeping him upright. Odds are, he'd end up in a worse situation if he forced a trade and I think he likely realizes that. -

LOL! Ron should've been fired at least two years before he was. We look to be exploring every option to upgrade the QB position and that's exactly what we should be doing. -
Yeah, that was awful. But I think the moment the staff quit on him was when he threw them under the bus for getting the play call in late so that he couldn't check to a run on the play where he missed DJ Moore wide open in the endzone nearly resulting in DJ getting injured. I honestly think that was the moment when Teddy officially had no future beyond the '20/'21 season in Carolina.

What might those benefits be? -
Yeah, I'm fine with bringing him back to camp next year but I think he's officially out of our future plans. He'll have to improve dramatically to earn a roster spot next year.
-
Yes, when everything else goes perfectly, Teddy can effectively complete short passes and sometimes our very good YAC receivers can do something with them.

With all the rumors about the Dolphins and Watson and Tua coming out and saying he has no clue what his future is you gotta wonder at what point they've burned that bridge. -
I hate to be a killjoy here, but... H He had a 25" vertical at the Combine. That's terrible. 25" vertical while lifting your knees 17" = 42" box jump. That's not an impressive feat for a professional athlete.

I'm sold on Lawrence as a legit franchise QB. I'm not sold on Lawrence as the generational prospect people make him out to be.
