Yeah, he's putting a TON of mileage on that kid. I get it, he's a stud and you want to give him every opportunity to impact the game but I think you gotta protect him from himself and just play him at CB then give him maybe 10-12 snaps a game at WR. He isn't the CB he could be whole also trying to play WR full time too, not to mention the excessive wear and tear.

Imagine giving him that contract then he becomes a part owner so his role has to be significantly limited. If they were smart they would've used that to wiggle out of the deal.

Preston Smith and Bryon Jones were my 1A and 1B in that draft after DJ Humphries went right in front of us. I did NOT want Shaq. It was less about the player and more about the need. We have a bad history of using premium picks on ho hum prospects at positions where we have minimal immediate need. I don't believe in picking for need, but need has to he factored into the equation. If you have similarly rated prospects but one plays a position of dire need and the other plays a position where he would definitely be relegated to a backup role for the foreseeable future, IMO that's an easy decision to make.

Don't get hung up on the "military grade" moniker. Industrial standards are the same. It's just a way of saying this device passes a certain protocol of tests. Yes, THIRTEEN carries for TWO yards. Bro, you're not a dual threat at the high major college level. You're a pocket passer. You're a big strong dude so you can run short yardage sneaks but you can't tuck and run unless there is a LOT of open grass in front of you and coaches dialing up designed runs for this guy need their heads examined. The guy could run in HS, he can't run in high major college football.

This is why you don't draft older raw prospects. If you're gonna draft a raw prospects, he better be young. When a guy is older and still raw it isn't enticing "upside", it's a massive red flag of why this guy isn't more polished with his age and experience playing high major college football.
