Went fly fishing for only the second time since Helene today. The first time was pretty depressing. Hurricane debris was everywhere and trout were few and far between and minimal bug activity (yeah, bugs are annoying, but that's trout food). Seemed like fisheries were devastated. Well, a few months later and I had a great day on the water. Hurricane debris is still everywhere but so we're the trout and lots of aquatic insect activity. Aside from debris the stream seemed back to it's old self. Lost count of how many I caught but it was dozens.

Yeah, Ewers was a #1 QB but he was disappointing from the jump. I'm not jumping around, I'm just putting your bad comps into perspective. You keep saying comps are everywhere but there really aren't comps for #1 QB prospect, especially the most hyped #1 QB prospect on a long time, riding the pine for two years behind a 7th round pick.

Joe Burrow was a borderline top 200 recruit. Arch Manning was everyone's #1. And Dwayne Haskins was was a top 15 NFL draft pick. Ohio State never signed Burrow expecting him to start for them, then he transferred to LSU and absolutely exploded as a super senior.
-
Of course. He's choosing to retire. I'm assuming they probably worked out some type of injury settlement.

Seems like risking $1k on a sure thing bet to get back $2250 in a year would be a smart move if you had to risk over $28k to net $2k. Just saying...
-
I just hope they suck but don't suck bad enough to land a top prospect. Basically, pull a Tepper era Panthers.
-
"the march for Arch" is the best bad thing I can come up with LOL
-
Cool. Let's see that then.
-
Sooooo... what you're staying is that you wouldn't bet $1k on it. Cool. That's literally my whole point here. LOL Cool, you've won a couple extreme longshot parlays on small bets. That's a LOT different than plopping down a band.

Except that The Golden Calf of Bristol was a legitimately GREAT college QB (and he was a 1st round draft pick not a 7th). Like one of the legit best of all time. And it was only for one year. That's a terrible comparison.
-
Okaaaaaay... I mean, I knew you were talking out of your ass. I just wanted to prove it. LOL
-
Neither Peyton nor Eli spent two years getting splinters in their ass behind a 7th round pick.
-
I'm actually excited to see what Bryce can do this year after his strong finish. But yeah, if he regresses it looks like a potential good chance to turn the page.
-
I mean, next year's draft is the first year of his eligibility anyway. Honestly, if they're trying to minimize his injury risk exposure in college this is the path. Sit for two years, light it up for a year, gone.
-
I mean, it's gonna be a bad team and probably a dumpster fire of an organization. That's kinda what it takes to get the #1 overall pick minus a crazy trade up and even then... well, we all know. LOL
-
So you'll just get your money back.
-
He's definitely sporadic. The raw talent is evident though.

Why? If you're gonna go #1 why wait? Every snap in football has the real potential to be the last one you take or the one that results in an injury that leaves you a significantly diminished version of your former self. Guys like Ewers need to stay in college and collect NIL money until they run out of eligibility. High 1st rounders need to go. Especially with his playing style. Physically and stylistically he's very similar to Drake Maye. But that style of play ups the injury risk for sure. Hell, if anything I think the Mannings were fully willing to just keep Arch on the shelf limiting his exposure to injury risk in the college game. Just show what you can do for one year and bounce.

Bet. https://sportsbook.draftkings.com/leagues/football/nfl?category=2026-draft&subcategory=pick-number Post the slip. Let's see it.

Nico is gonna have to sell the NFL on not being a complete diva. He's looking like Shedeur with actual talent so far. I mean, Caleb Williams overcame it and still went #1 so we'll see. The NFL will put up with a lot of BS if they think you have the goods. It's why I didn't understand a lot of the Shedeur draft backlash. Listen, none of that stuff would've mattered if the NFL thought he was an elite QB prospect.
